I've always had a sorta crush on Sigourney Weaver, admire the hell out of her

I honestly don't know anything about the Alien movies except for references to an Alien popping out of a chest and those pictures of her in her underwear that people post, I think that's Alien? And it's on a lot of must watch movie lists

And I do love Sci Fi

But I'm not a fan of horror movies, or gross movies

I'd say my threshold is Zombieland, I love it, have seen it tons, but still need to look away at certain parts

Final destination and Paranormal still gives me the heebie jeebies and nightmares occasionally even after all this time

I will abide by your decision

Edit: Seems the overwhelming consensus is that my wife and I need to watch this asap, thanks for all the responses!

Edit 2: ok I've seen more than a few comments about how this is fake, or I'm an idiot. So I'll post my response here cuz I'm getting tired of putting it in the replies.

I grew up a Jehovah's Witness, wasn't allowed to watch a lot of movies, Definately nothing worse than PG13 and sometimes not even then. Grew up on Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Back to the Future, MST3K, etc.

Since I left the church I've been working on an insanely long list of movies I need to catch up, mostly r-rated.

Alien has always been put on the back burner because i had the assumption from the very little I saw that it was horror/slasher, and I had bad experiences with watching horror i.e. final destination, paranormal

So I figured I'd ask and a couple nice imgur-ians could let me know without spoiling the movie, which would probably happen if I googled it

Love movies like Edge of Tomorrow, Gravity, Arrival, Matrix, Terminator, LotR, total Marvel Junkie, as well as drama, suspense, yada yada

Other movies I haven't watched yet - any of the Godfathers, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Predator series, my list is huge

The end

You’ll know the chest popping is coming so you can close your eyes if you with. That’s the most gruesome part

Alien is kind of like a slasher movie set in space. Alot of darkness, paranoia, not knowing when it will show up, it's an incredible movie.

These are like. Classics. A must have for a sci-fi fan.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

For sure watch Alien, and then watch Aliens. And then if you haven't seen any Quentin Tarantino films, watch Pulp Fiction.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Get a friend for safety, and then watch it together? :)

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Easier to watch these then A Clockwork Orange

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

i keep hearing i need to watch Clockwork Orange, but i've been told to make sure i'm in a really good headspace though cuz its twisted af

It's a very disturbing story. I would read a plot synopsis and see if it something you can want to watch it, brilliant, but haunting.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thriller/suspense, not horror, and it's one of those classics that is almost a mandatory "must-watch", even if you cover your eyes at parts.

6 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 4

Mmmm definitely sci-fi/horror.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I'd say it was a sci-fi horror, the body horror elements of it can't be understated

The Player, Cone Heads, and the Blues Brothers.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know they are not scifi, but if you have not scene them, I would recommend.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She half nakey, she fight big alien, she save the cat. Best. Movie. Ever.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Alien is violent, but it is balanced well. It's a good film. Recommended.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

first one is a great sci-fi horror, the 2nd one is a great sci-fi action

Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection! They all have her in it, DO WATCH IT.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

On one hand, you should definitely watch it. On the other hand, you should absolutely watch it.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Absolutely not

It's also aged extremely well considering the fact it's a 40 year old sci fi. Other than that, I'd also bill it as horror-thriller.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Nightmares be damned, you NEED to watch it!

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I played "alien isolation" and got so immersed in it that I felt anxious walking on the sidewalk in afternoon daylight. Obviously I enjoyed.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Someone else said I must play after watching the movies :) I added to my stream wishlist. Thanks for reply!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I regret not recording myself actually. I got really intense reactions and watched YouTube etc. feeling underwhelmed. There was one guy 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that was clearly immersed, and it was great. Never finished it unfortunately (due to terror) xD

There's even an audio drama, for the Colony in Aliens. https://youtu.be/dKafXnCf1dY I'd recommend them all to any ALIEN fans. Have fun (:

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly one if the best atmospheres ever and us one of my favorite horror movies.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Definitely, it's one of the best movies around. The other ones are great too. If you have a hard time streaming / finding them, there's ..>

I watched Alien and Aliens about 10 times. "BIIIIIIIISHOP!!!!"

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just remember to turn up the volume and preferably even wear a hood headset. Alien has a fantastic sound scene.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I sort of like hoodset, personally..

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well there it is

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's also surprisingly not that gory, I just watched it again with my teenage daughter, she liked it.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

>.. Also amazing audio books. They're on YT, adds alot more detail to the story and characters. I loved em more than the movies. Links>

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(I will say, they might be more enjpyable after you see the movies. Makes imagining everything much easier) (:

Those movies scared the crap out of 10yo me. Nothing has ever scared me like they did.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My pops was a horror/scifi junky. I saw hellraiser when i was 10. Talk about absolute nightmare fuel

Nope. Paxton, but from Aliens.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ass like a 10 year old boy

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It was made as a haunted house movie set in space. Started with very limited budget but when studio saw what they were achieving gave them..

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

I think it was Ridley Scott who said he wanted to make a movie that would make all the men in the audience 'cross their legs.' It worked.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

..them an extra chunk of cash. Lasers were borrowed from The Who, who were filming next door. It’s def one of the best films ever, must watch

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dude the whole production was chaos, but it worked out. Passionate people made sure things were done right, and it shows!

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Should you?! SHOULD YOU???I wish i could forget the first two films just so i could enjoy them all over again

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

especially Aliens, one of the most kick ass movies ever

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haha one of the silver linings of not getting to experience movies until full adulthood. Seriously considering putting my kids thru same lol

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

if they're under 12 or 13 the Alien might be just too scary I think but IDK that much about kids.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i meant more of depriving my kids of all movies growing up so they can experience for first time as an adult, lol, not actually going to

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sure I don't think there's anything wrong with that idea.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1) Alien isn't big on gore, it's more about tension building, though I can't say there isn't any (obviously; chestburster scene). It's a

2) great movie, and helped establish her for future "tough, and yet still smart, woman" roles. I'd say watch it, but I'm not saying it won't

3) give you nightmares. I don't know you.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

WHY HAVE YOU NOT YET WATCHED ALIEN?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Go! Run! Go watch Alien!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I grew up in a very religious family, anything stronger than PG-13 was a no go, and even that had conditions. My movie list is huge haha

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I hope nobody has spoiled the film for you yet. Many people are just absolute jerks and assume anyone has seen everything already >_<

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i don't think anyone has, someone said something about her being ignored and having a cat, but that's it. and the enthusiasm is contagious

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

oh good. Avoid spoilers then and just go into the film without any expectations. It's a really good Sci-Fi. Basically truckers in space.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok so like Alien is awesome.....but if you haven't seen Ghostbusters yet, pause Alien and go watch that first...

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Saw the first ghostbusters a year ago haha, thought it was very corny but good, was surprised, i thought it would be more kid friendly...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

it seemed everyone in my school Loved it. do you think i need to watch the ghostbusters 2 before alien? .... they aren't related right?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes. Then Aliens. There are no other movies.

6 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 2

I especially liked the director's cut of Aliens.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The sentry guns weren't in the theatrical release. First time I saw the DC, I about lost my shit with excitement.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Hear, hear.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Alien 3 assembly cut is amazing. I actually prefer it over Aliens but I know I'm objectively wrong on that one.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You're allowed to have your theories.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm, can this assembly cut be streamed somewhere possibly?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

HBO. It's called Special Edition on there.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Alien 3 is actually good.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I liked 3, and the one where they resurrected Ripley and mix her with alien DNA or some shit. Alien resurrection? Can't remember the name

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That was only a theory, they never made it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*her DNA was mixed with the alien queen when they cloned her
