Loose seal!

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up in Northern California. One of the first rules of going into the ocean is to get out when you see a seal. They are shark food.

Seal of approval

This is the shark version of cheese + crackers

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, he gets my approval of seal.

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'd greet him in water too

Inter-species communication and generational learning are fuckin' wild and I wish I knew more. Tons of species will not mess with humans on account of the fact we'll go full genocide on their entire lineage if they hurt one of us. Simultaneously, we will gently handle an individual seeking aid (as will many other predator species). "Hug the human, sharks fear their wrath" is not outside the possibilities here.

Or an Orca. Either way, FUCKING RUN.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Ha ha ha… i thought the same

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure that must be a selkie

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I suspect this video may have not been taken in the US, thus US law would not apply.

Fun fact water puppies can leave giant holes in flesh.

It's an older meme

But it checks out

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It gets my seal of approval.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did it go down on him at the end there?

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck that land traitor

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

remember, they are cute but have the impulse control of a toddler and the morals of a sea gull.

11 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Morals of a sea gull.... Wow, great writing

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seals will also chase a tennis ball. Just big water-proof dogs.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's the Internet for ya. It's a place where we can learn all about things from a 5 or 6 second video that lacks context and stops before the story concludes.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've heard their breath is rancid enough to strip paint. Cute, but keep your distance.

11 months ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

True, and they taste like they smell. Fucking cute though.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've heard the same of whales.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. Like horrible morning breath and rancid fish at the same time

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You try brushing all those teeth/ whatever those baleen things are!

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

wild animals.... that's gonna be a 'no' from me, dawg.

11 months ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 7

Everything was wild once.

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I like the idea of house seals. May be a few more generations.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That thing could rip your throat out easily

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Yeah, it could...seal your fate.

PSA you're not allowed to touch seals in the US under the Marine Mammal Protection Act, It is legal to touch a seal only under very limited circumstances, such as self-defense, to rescue an animal or mitigate harm. The MMPA protects all whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, porpoises, manatees, polar bears, otters, and walruses from human-induced harm.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

For now that is, as trump's america will most definitely get rid of those protections, once they get around to it!

2017-2020 was bad, 2025-2028 will be too

The psychotic prick also rebranded the name Dept of Defence into Dept of War… seriously, no fuckin' joke!

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But what if it touched you first, as what happened in this video?

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If I'm not mistaken, you are allowed to touch them to a degree if they come up and touch you (basically, you just can't do anything to initiate the interaction). That said, this guy might be stretching even that exception.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That thing could easily just rip a hole in your neck. Just because it looks cute doesn't mean that it is.

11 months ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 10

So could a cat

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

A house cat? No. I mean they can scratch the shit out of you but not take a chunk out of your neck. I mean unless youre unconscious. Now get up to Bob cat size. Sure.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Indeed, as the sea dog is a predator after all, but yeah, always respect any animal that you do not know, that includes other people's pets.

I never pet a dog that does not know me, I let them figure me out on their own.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

As a kid I was told seals are like dogs and will just run away from you if you try to pet them. If I try to pet the sea lions they will eat me. Source: I was raised in the bearing sea, on the island where the deadliest catch boats refuel

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Kids can technically do that too

11 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Tell me about it. My younger sibling used to leave deep bite marks on me. I sometimes think they were a cannibal at a certain age.

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Oh, it's still cute, it just doesn't mean that it's *harmless.*

11 months ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

So could a cute dog. Doesn't mean they generally will.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

That's because dogs are domesticated, whyle seals are wild animals. Don't pet wild animals. Not only because they can harm you but because you can harm them by accident and it is really dangerous for wild animals to get used to interact with humans. Next person it tries to swim up to might not be as friedly.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah i dont hug random dogs i encounter on the street because of exactly that. My dog is cute as fuck but I dont let people hug her head.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But it was :P

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your neighbor could easily shoot you in the back. The car in the opposite lane could easily swerve. It must be horrible to live a life in irrational fear of everything.

11 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 60

HOLY SHIT, you're dumb! Like, REALLY dumb! You shouldn't offer your opinion... ever.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I must suggest for you to personally go pet all cows you see from now on. Never mind that they kill more people than sharks in the US per year. Go. Go play in the fields. Save us all from your idiotic comments.

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

His point was to posture moral superiority... Like almost all comments by the children here

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

It's an irrational fear to be cautious with a wild animal as big as a wolf in its habitat and out of your own? calm down aqua man

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not everyone's neighbour can easily shoot them... THAT must be a horrible thought thing to have to live with tbh.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good good. Let the removal from the dna pool course thru you

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

It wouldn't be an irrational fear. But, don't let that get in your way.

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

What an idiotic argument. You just gonna go up and hug a bear? A wolf? It's the same thing. Seals are predators. They are killing machines. They aren't some cute creature to hug.

11 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 7

The seal came up to him. He didn't come up to the seal.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You should see what black bears do. They come at you all sweet. And then just maul you.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I’m not agreeing with that last guy by any means, but I could absolutely see myself dying trying to pet wolf.

11 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I met a fox when I was a kid and it followed me around for an afternoon and I treated it like a dog. Seemed to enjoy pets. I tried to keep it in my treehouse but my parents found out

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s carnivorans. Something about that entire order of mammals just makes them… pettable
