Yeah I don't need ai to make me a poem or draw me a picture. I want ai to query all the grocery stores near me for the best prices for stuff I need and make me a efficient driving map and list of where these items are in the store so I can get my weekly shopping done in 30 min.

The imagination of the user contributes very little because it bases it's images on someone else's art anyway.

That is not how it works. if i ask you to draw a dog do you pick one of the thousands of dogs you've seen and perfectly recreate it? No you use an amalgamation of information to represent the overall shape of dog, and refine it based on more information like species, color, etc. That is how diffusion models work, they do not contain every piece of art ever made. Just a representation of what objects should be. and even that is an oversimplification of it

A dog is simple for something more complex what ot makes will not be the image in your head every artist has their own style and little details and quirks that make it into their art.

That's partially because boring stuff is harder to automate: it usually has a small set of "correct" solutions and failing to achieve those produces an unusable result. It is mostly used in production lines or other places where all the inputs can be tightly controlled to minimize variables.
On the other hand, there is no "correct" solution to stuff like art, just people's opinions on the end result, so you can just throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

Oh, art has "correct solutions" as well, it's just that most people aren't trained to evaluate art. Thus why people who are into generated images typically express that they don't value art much in the first place, while people who regularly engage with art on a deeper level can't stop finding faults when looking at anything AI spits out.
Can be compared to Knoll's law of media accuracy: Everything in the newspaper is absolutely true, except the rare story you happen to have firsthand knowledge.
