I've been thinking about this a bit lately. Conservative people point to stalin, Hitler, pol pot, and say oh see what happens when someone tries to make society better. It's total cherry picking bs, because almost all positive change comes from people trying to make society better. The evil people in history aren't evil because they were trying to make things better, but rather because they were racist, murderous, they "othered" people. Every 40 hours I work I get 1 hour of vacation time but can't exceed 40 hours of vacation time per year. It's pretty fucked up. Basically, when we get laid off which is always on short notice, that's when we get "vacation". No time to plan, or make reservations etc.. just wing it and don't complain

I was about to reply. I remember when I worked for Walgreens, I had up with one year to earn one day vacation. I had to work 7 years for a week, which is capped, and I wasn't allowed to take my vacation days back to back.

That they'd want everyone to be hugely taxed to pay for the less fortunate, even if that means a majority of those taxpayers become the less fortunate. There'd also be no system to check what "less fortunate" entails, because that would be discrimination, so anyone could completely misuse the system, as we've seen so many times. You wouldn't be free to pursue your ambitions, because your taxes would keep you from having ambitions. I could go on, but I don't have enough characters.

To be honest with you I really wanted to hear what you think the left's utopian dream would be because while I can think of a few criticism of it I personally think that it's benefits massively outweigh any possible drawbacks. But if you had thought of something I hadn't that would be a chance for me to either change my view or at least defend it. What do you think the US would look like if AOC, Mamdani and Bernie got to set every policy and they all worked as intended. (utopian fantasy)
