Long story. I really need to vent.

My husband left. He told me last month bills would be tight so I would need to make up the other half. (I didn't question it because he does have a child from his previous marriage). He hasn't helped with our child though, yeah I know. That should have been a sign to let it go. He's always threatened to leave and finally he did. Last Monday. I feel ok. He's already moved in with someone else. Shocker. It was for the better.

Now the concern is that i can't afford this place and two children on my own. My pride really hurts. I tried to qualify for assistance but I make $22 more than the bracket. I'm lucky my kids are young enough that maybe they won't notice the lack of Christmas this year. We have a tree! So I'm asking friends to help donate and decorate, I'm so thankful for that.

This week I started donating plasma to make ends meet. I'm thankful for this community because yall have helped keep my mind occupied. That's my rant. I can do this. Thank you for reading.

Edit.

I appreciate all the kind words. I have started the process with the court and unfortunately the process isn't as quick as we all think it would be.

Clarification. I work full time and the amount of money i make before taxes is $22 per month over the income bracket. I dont qualify for WIC or food stamps because of that. I have a daughter from a previous relationship and we have a son together. His first son of course left with him. All understandable. I have started the process of selling and downsizing. Ill be honest there's a lot less clutter here, my little one has been riding her bike in the house because of it. I just needed to vent. I appreciate all the kind offers. I really appreciate all the ears that have been listening. I have gotten into contact with my city's community services and a few churches have reached out to me. I know I can do this. :) Y'all are a wonderful community.

Really thank you guys.

Tryv the local charities for help. Food pantries can help with groceries. Probably too late for the adopt a kid gift trees but maybe not?

I'm assuming it's going to be awhile before you take him to court, which is unfortunate especially around Christmas. Best of luck to you

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

you will be ok, @OP

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You phishing for a gofundme after that dad post?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I read bills as balls

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Went back and re-read it replacing “bills” with “balls.” Was not disappointed. I hate when my balls are tight. It’s why I switched to boxers

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sell the rings.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You should take your kids out for a day hike to near state park or a national park and just have fun on Christmas Day come back drink hot ch

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but it depends what type of children they are. and the park too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m sorry, OP. Dropping papers on my husband in feb. he won’t leave and I can’t support him anymore. Peace and power to us both. ❤️

8 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 4

Here you can borrow mine

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cue the GoFundMe link...

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Fuck off w/ 'lack of christmas' coercion, @OP. Christmas bullshit isn't some kind of essential claim. Get your fucking priorities straight.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

do you have a kid from a previous marriage as well?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Did you not read about the 2 kids? Or was it a case of TL;dr

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

she said they have one kid together, and he has a kid from a previous marriage. IF he left, I assume his kid goes with him.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

To anyone who want to help out this young lady, please dont give money. By all means offer to by presents but this could be a scam

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

even if you do buy presents, the kids will probably get them but she won't get money but she should if this is real

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mom worked two jobs and donated plasma to make ends meet too. You got this! Your kids will appreciate all you do, even if they don't show it

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Is it really "donating" plasma if they're paying you for it though

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

A liter of plasma sells for around $500 after manufacturing it to meet medical quality, donors receive $50 for 1/3-2/3 liters. Considering /

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plasma cannot be manufactured synthetically, yes it’s still donating. People need it, and much like IVIG, there is usually a shortage.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know, I'm just saying I would use the term "selling plasma", donation implies you aren't asking for compensation

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Long story short...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I sympathize.. But cant help feeling like we arent getting the full story.

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 3

I agree. Car interior looks pretty nice. Rings could get her money. Hard to believe assistance was refused by $22.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

I agree with the rest, but they’ll deny you over $1

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

In Illinois, you can't make more than $26,208 for FoodStamps, for a household of 3. You can apply for Medicaid. Lower your tax bracket too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Window crank means the car is older (tho possibly still in good shape) and those rings aren't worth anything once they leave the store.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also note a lack of shiny skin where the rings would rub. Dunno if I buy it.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Lol what? I'm married and don't have shiny skin where my ring is. My wife's finger is not shiny either and is actually dry under her ring.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My skin on the underside is shiny, so is my husband's. Or, if just taking the rings off, should at least be some change in skin color (1)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

indentation, texture... something. The pic implies that she just took the rings off. (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*checks husbands hand* No shiny skin from wearing a ring since he was 15. Can't check my own because I don't wear my ring.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

guys,...guys...hm, ....-belive me when i say i always mean well-, but we should report something like this... *At those who can see it.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Scam

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Pawn/Sell your rings. Boom...Christmas!

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

They're not worth anything.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This seems really familiar, as I (paramedic) was just dispatched to talk to someone going through this situation.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If it’s you and you want to talk, I’m always here. If it’s not you and you want to talk, I’m always here.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it’s you and you want to talk, I’m always here. If it’s not you and you want to talk, I’m always here.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Either way, I’m sorry this is happening. You got this. I know money struggles and this time of year, but to your kids you’re a great mom.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd offer to let you crash at my house, @OP, but I have a two bedroom house and a moody 15 year old daughter... Also you'd need tetanus shot

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

congrats! You're saying you got another one on the way right?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

generally speaking, should probably stay up to date on tetanus anyway.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

If you set up a po box, I feel like the community would chip in for your kids' Christmas

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 9

That's a no for me dawg. Tons of scammers set-up PO boxes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

She can sell her rings and provide Christmas

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

She can, but she could also have the help of others if they are willing to provide it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So. You're single.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 43

her hands are pretty! why the d votes?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

I dono man, they take everything so serious here.. It's not like I'm actually pming her or harassing her. It's just a comment.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A funny one I thought... Guess not

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nothing wrong complimenting a woman. Pompous little feminazis will always read into a comment to find the worst possible meaning.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Way to fucking be creepy.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

and he can't even see my hands.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Hey y'all no need to downvote him, maybe he's literally Kira from Jojo

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He just wants a quiet life.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do, but I love riling people up. That go for it so easy..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 kids? Are you also taking care of his child from the previous marriage? Math don't add up...

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

or he just left his kid there because he doesn't care who knows

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

also if they were married the kid should be her stepkid maybe even adopted

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

She could have 1 from a previous relationship just like he does.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Downsize the housing asap. From my experiences, whoever keeps the house is the worst off in the long run.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Move to a small apartment and sell/rent out the house

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

pretty much, the house is only a boon if the mortgage is paid off and doesn't require much upkeep.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hate to play devil's advocate but....let's not assume he's terrible. Why did he leave?

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

Agreed, I'd be curious to know the full story here. Not that I don't feel bad for OP, this def. sucks especially before Xmas.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

if he left his kids and isn't providing support or coming around there's no scenario that makes him not terrible

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 6

plus around christmas time.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Let's play devils advocate here and say she's abusive and manipulative. I would say that makes it ok. There's many reasons.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok to leave her, not ok to leave the kids and offer no support, ESPECIALLY to leave them with her under those circumstances.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's actually a fair counter. There's a lot about this that seems off though. I think Imgur is getting scammed.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but that isn't why he left.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Can you imagine a reason that would make that ok? It's not the kids' fault, whatever it is.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I think you're confused about my comment.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I don't see another interpretation other than that you think his reason for leaving might make a difference in judging him as an asshole.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nothing says douche like leaving right in middle of the holidays. I mean still a douche but the timming and no presents for kids???

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 5

i hope OP gets a new good man and kitties and plenty of help and support and presents for the kids this year.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

During holidays stress is high for all people. However, moving in with someone else is still a dick move.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I didn't know you had to endure into a relationship you don't want because the holidays are coming.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

They aren't talking about the divorce being at a bad time. They are talking about a father leaving his children at a bad time.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

a father just leaving children at all.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

yeah...endure into that relationship with his CHILDREN.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Sell your rings to pay your bills, try and apply for SNAP benefits (food stamps), also try and move to a more affordable place.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My ex husband spent $700 on my rings and when I asked a jeweler what I could get for then he said maybe $10 :-(

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My thought exactly. Sell those rings!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those rings'll get her $200 tops at pawn, sadly. I learned that the hard way when I was in her situation (minus kids) w/ my ex-husband.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I think food stamps is what she makes too much money for

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The rings won't fetch much. Once they're out the store the value drops by like 2000%. I speak from experience

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also if his name is also on the lease he should be required to at least pay half. He sounds like a shitty person. Don’t let him dictate you

8 years ago | Likes 442 Dislikes 2

Depending on laws, she can sue for breach of contract on the rent

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Wow that's a thing? How nice.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

they ask you a little info then they look up a number and ask for you name and number if you want to make an account for easier recall if

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you need service and your a single (parent) I think they put you in priority but if your single female definitely and married you'll be ok

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not religious, but a Catholic Church helped once w/ my water and electric bills when my x left me in a place I couldn't afford alone too

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

churches are known to extend out to local neighbors and definitely their congregation in times of need depends on if they have money

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

weird thing in CA is a lot of Catholic churches are losing members because of lawsuits and cities that used to be able to protect illegal

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

immigrants that comprised big part of their flocks are getting kicked out of the county and they might not pay taxes but they pay tithes

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Divorced woman here. Do not sell your rings. Trust me on this.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

How come?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What good are the rings that no longer mean anything but what they are worth being sold?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Several reasons, ranging from not getting ANY equivalent value for them, to using them as heirlooms for your children. Antique (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I put my wedding ring in a scrap book I made for my daughter. Was on the pages with our wedding pics. They’re hers now, for better or worse.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

jewelry with provenance appreciates in value whereas contemporary jewelry is worth crap. (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not to be a downer.. But I wouldn't use rings from a "failed marriage" as an heirloom. But maybe that's just me.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My ring when through at least two failed marriages. My dad's parents and my parents. So far, it seems like we're going to break the curse.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats, sincerely!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These are great options, but some of us make more than benefits allow for, and after having been married there are bills and expenses 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That you can’t get out of. I left my husband 2 years ago after he became physically abusive instead of just mentally, sold my jewelry 2/?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Moved in with my parents, traded out my car for a lower payment, and I still can’t afford to grocery shop or pay rent. I have debt 3/?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

from my ex not paying what he told me he was while we were married. In order to speed up the divorce and just get out I agreed to pay it 4/?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I am also the provider of family health insurance, as ex has no steady job I agreed to no child support as kids spend ~50% of time 5/?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

With their father. I make too much money to qualify for ANY assistance, even though after bills and car insurance I have less than 200 6/?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's not as easy to move as a lot of people seem to think - there are quite prohibitive costs involved.

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

When I moved out of my ex boyfriend's house, I had to pay $1200 worth of deposits to move elsewhere. Thank heavens for my parents help

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0
