Staged.

My wife and I had 2 NICU babies (different pregnancies). The littlest was 4 lb 15oz. Puny. Both are healthy now.
izzy452002
Glad they are both healthy!
KorrasamiOTP
My daughter was born 11 weeks early and was in the NICU for 81 days. Now she’s a happy, healthy 3 year old
izzy452002
Aww I'm so happy she is healthy!
youcanreachmenow
Congratulations! Love the defiant attitude. A little reminder that despite their size and being fragile, babies are little fighters
izzy452002
Absolutely! She came out fierce!
youcanreachmenow
They're mad yokes altogether. Just spent the last hour walking around SG trying to put my little lad to sleep, fought every bit of the way
Drakoth97
My mom is a NICU nurse, I think she greatly prefers this to any alternative
izzy452002
I'm an RN as well, this was just a joke.
Conejito
Like the back of the Garden of Earthly Delights "fuck this place"
lightfoot2
I had a little 5p 4 oz boy. He was so little! Now he's 6'8 and when I listen to him I want to put him in my hand and go "there there"
izzy452002
Aww that's lovely
BojanglesTheFlyingCar
They will always be our babies
eathotdog
Im 6'4 and my mom is 5foot nothing, funny how that works
lightfoot2
SIT DOWN WHEN I TALK TO YOU! (My Mom)
TsubakiTragic
Live long and prosper, little dudette.
tinytyty13
I was super happy to leave but all the nurses and doctors were so amazing.
TheVampireDante
"I lived bitch!" - that kid.
darkchiron
I agree with you, kid. The outside world is worth doing that to.
DodyShiratori
I remember when I drove my daughter back from the NICU... Most nerve wracking 10 minute drive of my life ?
izzy452002
Her husband was white knuckling it. They flew her 4 hours away so he's was stressing quite a while haha
ghsdkgb
Saying fucu to the nicu
Lynkfox
Congrats. My son was there for 16 days, it was such a relief when we got to take him home.
izzy452002
Congratulations on your little one! I wish him happiness and health!
AtaSeaParks
It's such a relief to leave the NICU for the last time with your healthy baby. Best wishes to you.
izzy452002
Thank you! She's my niece, her twin sister is still in nicu. This one had heart surgery and is doing great now
AtaSeaParks
OMG Wow! That must have been terrifying. I'm genuinely happy she's doing well and hope the next steps go well for sis.
izzy452002
Yes, it was really stressful initially. But she's a little fighter! Thank you so much, we appreciate that! ?
joeyecho101
Everybody is always glad to leave the NICU. Just remember the folks that work there are miracle workers.
KiopMiko
They absolutely are. I have nothing but admiration for health care workers.
izzy452002
Yes, they are. I've worked there a few times, I have the utmost respect for my fellow nurses there. This was in good fun.
joeyecho101
Of course. Glad you finally get to take the little one home with you.
rdewalt
My middle daughter was a NICU graduate. For her first birthday, she delivered cupcakes and thank yous
Blackmetalhappiness
"I lived, bitches!" - Bad ass newborn
patkat1
He went home & I stayed for 3 weeks. My parents were happy they wanted a boy & a girl & only had 1 hospital bill. We were both healthy. Yay
izzy452002
That's awesome! Congratulations on being healthy!
BumbleBeeBeardedGingerBear
Congratulations to you & your sibling! I also have twin girls with a certain amount of sass. /a/C16sM2y
izzy452002
Haha omg she us adorable! I love the feisty ones!
BumbleBeeBeardedGingerBear
Honestly they just love putting that finger up in the early stages. I recommend making an album to help keep your sanity like I did. If you
BumbleBeeBeardedGingerBear
Or your sibling has any q's about raising twins, I'm happy to help.
izzy452002
That would be amazing! I'm sure she will have a lot of questions, she's a first time mother
BumbleBeeBeardedGingerBear
I was too! My biggest cheat was sticking a twinbed between their cribs and side carring them so i could roll back & forth to feed them at ?
BumbleBeeBeardedGingerBear
She'll find what works best for her. ?? are a lot. ? parents do NOT get it & still give a lot of impractical advice. I nod & smile a lot.
MyCatWillFightYourCat
Can't wait till we join you. My daughter has been in the NICU for 12 days now
izzy452002
I'm sending over positive vibes, I know it's very stressful. Just take it one day at a time ?
MyCatWillFightYourCat
Hope your little one is still doing well. We left the hospital 2 days after you! Seems like a live time ago already
Carl99
@OP Congratz, was a premature baby myself, will be turning 38 next year. Something tells me your going to spoil them both rotten.
izzy452002
That's awesome! I hope you are healthy and happy! Yes, for sure! They have me wrapped around their pinkys
EvilStarLegacy
My twins were also preemies and spent a few days in the NICU and now they're 9 years old and amazing!
izzy452002
I'm so happy to hear that! May they continue to be happy and healthy!
Gaylepod
F U NICU
izzy452002
Haha I should have put that on there!
patkat1
My mother had twins but they didn't know it until I was born 3lbs 25oz & half hour later my brother arrived 5lbs. We were 2 months premature
izzy452002
Oh wow! Hope you are both healthy and happy!
patkat1
Absolutely! We had our own language as babies. Kept each other entertained.
Duskz
My wife and I just received our lil one 2 weeks ago from the nicu. It's a bit nerve wracking at first, you're constantly reading into
izzy452002
Congratulations on your little one! I hope they continue to be happy and healthy!
Duskz
Tyvm. She had been passing with flying colors! :)
Duskz
Every little thing they do with concern. Just remember this, do they *look*distressed? Are they crying? No? Then it's probably just
Duskz
normal. Face scrunching and scrunching crunches can look intense, but can often be very normal, too! Lastly, GET THE SLEEP YOU NEED.
Duskz
If you have a partner or someone helping, see if they cab take a5 hour shift with the kiddo so you can sleep solidly, alone. Otherwise
Duskz
You'll be wide eye starting at the baby at every movement they make. Take naps, too
Eridianne
Quick reminder to have the carseat installed facing backwards for a newborn, lotta parents overlook it so heads up!
Aaronb1138
They seriously forget that??? I knew that by age like 12. It's a giant ass diagram on the box the carseat came in.
VTiR
Yeah there's so much evidence that adults in many countries are functionally illiterate. They literally cannot read the instructions.
izzy452002
That's a great reminder, my sister was sitting in the back and took the pic like that ?
JohnDillermand
Not just newborns. Recent recommendations are to keep kids facing backwards up to age 4 (unless they simply grow too tall to face backwards)
Nonna2
They followed us out to the car at the hospital and made sure we had it set up right before we left.
Sugarbritches21
Also a reminder to have the straps over the shoulders (preferably without those pads) and the middle latch up towards the top not belly
Sugarbritches21
Tightened enough to where 2 fingers can fit snugly underneath. Source: I work at a hospital and am car seat certified.
Sugarbritches21
https://youtu.be/V3hKH3SrCVo this gives a pretty great tutorial for how to install/ secure
makalalala
Safeintheseat.com has all things car seat safety, literally can save lives
ohnonotmeagain
also stop the airbag on that seat
bobGrimer
Don't infant seats sit in the middle? Where they're not behind a seat.
whaleboi
My friend, who’s not quite ready for children yet, was just wondering; why is it important?
Eridianne
Bro Google 'internal decapition' if you're down to cry hard for a real long time
whaleboi
Bro, I’d never google that
lazerfrog
In an accident rear facing means the force pushes their heads back into the seat. Newborns have no neck strength so impact is really serious
whaleboi
My friend greatly appreciate the information ?
Trelfar
Babies are much more susceptible to head & spinal cord injuries if their head is thrown forward in a crash. Rear facing prevents that.
VodkaReindeer
Is there no danger from being rear-ended then?
whaleboi
My friend greatly appreciate the information ?
neezie
Ask most hospitals will double check you installed it correctly prior to leaving. Just ask!!
demoncookie
In Philly CHOP or fire dept will help you install car seats properly.
persnicketyemu
I discharge from the Nicu and I think 60% listen. we teach parents this but we do not have time to walk them to the parking garage. 1/2
persnicketyemu
2/2We harp on safety like safe sleep and then I see tiktoks posts post Nicu of kiddos nestled in unsafe sleep positions and unsafe bedding
grumpiestoldwoman
Yeah, our discharge NICU nurse literally gave us a pop quiz on everything before we could leave. I'm not exaggerating in the slightest.
persnicketyemu
I do the same. Hate having babies come back worse off after everything bc of an avoidable safety issue
sSommy
Our won't even let you leave until a nurse has checked car seat install. They have you bring the seat in, strap baby, check straps, then car
vman2000
Same. Our hospital had someone walk us to patient pickup and checked the car seat installation before letting us leave.
elembeetoo5772
Can confirm! A nurse walked us to the car and made sure she heard the “click” sound that means it’s secure.
DerbyDad03
The click just means the belt is latched. Always tug on the car seat to make sure it is secure. One time the seat latch broke when I tugged
elembeetoo5772
Thank you for mentioning that important step!
sushiengineer
Do they really? There are so many labels on those things telling you how to install them
5047
I mean we have coffee cups that day the contents are hot. Some people genuinely need these labels if not more of them
Trelfar
A very large proportion of people do not read any instructions, ever, no matter how obvious.
Eridianne
You wouldn't believe it buddy, working in youth protection I've seen it a billion times
IFoundOutThatYouCanHave63CharactersOntheUsernameHowCoolIsThat
eii fellow CP worker! ok i gotta get back to admin.
everythingiscats
My mom couldn't figure it out so she tried to jam the passenger seat against my daughters car seat. :| My dad fixed it later, ffs.
everythingiscats
Too shocked in the moment to tell her if she ever gets in an accident and my bub is hurt, she will no longer be my mother.
