Finished product first! It’s a serving board made out of red cedar cut from my grandpa’s ranch.
Sorry for the shameless pic of op, but this my gpa and I cutting the milled boards to length to fit in my truck.
Rough cut lumber in the newly established wood shop (op’s basement)
The boards are a true 2” thick so I cut strips and glued them together. Here is a strip that has been freshly jointed.
Original layout before all sides had been jointed. Ended up moving the eyes to the middle.
Glued 3 strips at a time for more solid joints. Worked well.
Thanks for lookin!

Very nice. In Sweden we have such a limited supply of lumber. Pine, spruce and birch. Thats it. All others cost ALOT.

Interesting! The cedar trees that this lumber comes from grow like weeds in central Nebraska where we cut these.

You can buy smaller pieces of foreign lumber online, say 2''x2''x12' but expensive. Your pile with cedar would cost a small fortune here :)

Wish I could trade ya some of mine for some of your local birch!
