Considering that people commonly pee out of the bowl, I wouldn't let a piece of paper fly around, risking that it touches me, after having been on the floor.
In the words of Lewis Black: "If you're flying coach, what you can do is - you put your head in the toilet, press the button and flush it. The suction is such that your head will be ripped clean off. Because it's better to have your head ripped off than flying coach."
On older planes with the tank style of toilet, there is a vacuum fart sucker just under the lip and smokers who I have worked with would basically put their heads in the toilet to get that sweet, sweet, nicotine hit at 40,000 ft. The fart sucker would remove the smoke and other than the smell on your clothing, most people wouldn't even know.
It's not vacuum it's density, you are standing in a stall that has the equivalent of 10,000 ft of pressure, the tank is not pressurized so it's sitting at 30,000 feet. High pressure gets pulled to love pressure to equalize
And then imagine what happens on the International Space Station, where people shit in microgravity! The toilet has a vacuum hose for collecting large and fine particles!
That would need a full replacement of the air inside the bathroom. Which might even be painful to happen within a second of time. I'm guessing like 1/4th of the air in the room was exchanged, and not equally. Not to mention the stickiness of particles splashing against surfaces, spreading more and more around. Also Mythbusters proved (crudely, but still truly) that particles get everywhere, no matter what. Lid closed/open. If it's in the air, it's going everywhere.
And you can't entirely prevent shit particles flying around in your bathroom after flushing the toilet. Closing the lid helps but isn't perfect. That's why cleaning the bathroom regularly is important. And rinsing your toothbrush before using it.
I think Mythbusters did that one and all the toothbrushes, regardless of where they were kept or if the lid was closed, had around the same amount of shit particles on them.
I keep my toothbrush in the medicine cabinet on the wall honestly when I use people's bathrooms and their toothbrushes are like a foot away from the toilet in a little cup I shudder.
pendant correction, particle can vary in definition, but in the context here it would indicate a solid and in this case it would be suspended in the air, where as a gas could be blending or escaping to its own buoyancy level.
In physics, a particle is a small object with physical and chemical properties like mass, density, or volume. Particles can be atoms, molecules, or ions.
There is no requirement for a particle to be solid. Did you just make your own definition and apply it to this context or where did you come up with that?

...what were they expecting...that's how vacuums work. If anything that's a very small one.

This is why you can rip a bowl on the flight

Only if you remain seated whilst flushing, lol. But I seriously would not reccommend it.

PSA never courtesy flush at Home Depot unless you need a little help or your balls washed.

I recommend not imagining this as it might cause discomfort

I don’t think there would be any, they would get sucked down the toilet

What do you think is flying up your nose when you smell shit? Actual physical particles that once resided in someone’s ass.

Is it poop particles or gas molecules?

It's usually the gas containing odour molecules. You aren't breathing actual faeces.
