Slight correction, I do sell if there really isn't a reason to keep the older format. I sell the cheap stuff for dirt, but I mostly keep old formats since I do have a means to play all of them. Plus, sometimes it's cool to watch how far we have come quality wise for home media.
Anyway, here are a few, but not all, of my repeat offenses.
Titanic, of course. I'm a nut for all things Titanic so it only makes sense

Interesting note for Psycho, the Blu Ray is before they found and released the full cut of Psycho. Up until then, all we had on home media was a censored TV cut. The middle 4K is the first release of the full theatrical cut. The Arrow Video 4K came in a box set.
Of course, The Evil Dead looks best on VHS.

I have begun a "buy it digitally then download it elsewhere and host it on my Plex server" ethos. I never felt good downloading without paying. If I could download the raw file from somewhere not sketchy, I'd prefer that, but piracy has always been a service issue.

I still have my original VHS of the remastered Star Wars films. Not the Special Edition one where Lucas started fucking everything up, but the originals that had the restoration and color correction done. Never get rid of those.

Keep those 4k77 Star Wars discs safe. That's legit lost media, since Disney didn't do what I figured they would and release a high quality print of the unaltered trilogy. Now I'm wondering if they ever will.

I genuinely think people's eagerness to throw away their physical media is a significant portion of why the media landscape is such a hell-hole today.
My prime example is usually that for video games, if devs have to fit their games onto some kind of physical delivery then suddenly they care more about optimising it and making sure it's not super bloated. As opposed to rn where if you buy a physical copy of a game for xbox it's basically just a download code

Same here. I just bought a 4k Bluray player because I wanted the LOTR movies in the best possible format with highest bitrate sound. My kids didn't believe me at first when I told them that physical media would blow away anything streaming. Now, they are believers!

Same, my wife and I have even started getting into buying vinyls. But make sure to keep an eye out for degradation as I have discovered some of my DVDs have been lost to disc rot while digitizing my library over the last year.

Basically the reflective layer of the disc starts breaking down. It can look different on every disc, on some discs it can look like mold spots and on others it can be very subtle ring that almost looks like water got between the layers and separated them.

Physical media over streaming services. HBO Min is removing some of my favorite cartoons and/or removed the ones I haven't watched all the way through. But I can watch NHL games and other stuff for $6.99/month for ad-free streaming for 12 months thanks to Boomerang for the big discount.

It's not, not really... well kinda. It takes from all previous titanic films, and even stars some actors from previous productions. Ismay pressuring Smith is from the Nazi film, the romance drama is straight from the '53 Hollywood film, the most is taken from A Night to Remember though and, if you want to count this, the expedition comes from Raise the Titanic.

Streaming is great for a ton of variety, but there's so much lost and missing over the years. Weird licensing contracts limiting what can and cannot be streamed. WKRP in Cincinnati is a great example, almost any available version of the show has been altered to get around music rights. The episodes that ARE available have almost all been altered to music that is cheaper.
Media preservation is good and I love my shiny discs.

This is also the case for Quantum Leap: they didn't release all the original episodes on VHS due to music licensing, and replaced some of the music. In the most recent releases, they still only have *most* of the original music.

I will always go for physical media. I actually own it but the biggest benefit is uncompressed data. Especially audio. Streaming heavily compresses audio and Blu-ray doesn't to an extent and 4k Blu-ray doesn't at all.

Always make a back up. Keep in mind that DVDs won't last forever. Even if stored properly, they will eventually lose their data .

The only one I use "seriously" is Bandcamp which has streaming and download, so you can move purchases to your own media. "Files must be at least 16-bit, 44.1 kHz lossless files (WAV, AIFF, or FLAC) in stereo to ensure that fans are able to purchase music at the highest quality available."

Yeah, I have 2, 7.1.2 sound systems (one with an OLED) and would like to get into 4k Blu Ray soon. It's so expensive though. Any movie suggestions for good atmos audio to start collection?

I have a 7.1.2 system I use it for atmos with my Onkyo receiver but for sure isn't optimized it doesn't point properly for directional audio but it still sounds better than dts-hd master audio. I use a PS5 for the 4k player.

Oh neither does mine. My living room is tiny. The billiard's/ game table area are might be a little better but that Denon receiver does not do 2.1. both are those upward firing klipsch towers for height channels too. Just got a PS5 like a month ago, partly for 4k but haven't purchased any yet.

You also have to make sure that the audio on the PS5 is set to direct because natively they don't support Atmos.

We can’t trust the streamers for a lot more than people think. For instance, just the first three seasons of The Expanse are leaving amazon prime, not the whole series. Why. It’s stupid.
But I can’t afford buying new and or superfluous. I gotta have a reason. Like, my nieces have not seen Crybaby or the original Hairspray, my next visit will fix that.

Without those first 4 seasons, no new viewers will watch the rest, so Prime will see fit to drop them too cause of lack of interest. The same thing happened to the video store I once worked at when disk 1 of Evangelion was damaged and removed from the system. They saw a lack of interest in the following 7discs of the series+2movies that they sold them all off used. They all sold within minutes, to me lol.
