For those who are fortunate enough to not know, this is the Black Sun, a Nazi symbol. The first time I’ve seen Nazi iconography in my life in person. These people are out there.

We have 3% stuff around here

I thought it was a hipster dream catcher

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have never seen this symbol before. Is there a list or infograph or something depicting the various symbols?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haha these stupid people dont know i have a nazi symbol on my car, so owning the libs right now - that guy probably

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 4

It's more of a dogwhistle to other nazis

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Doesn't look like a sun, and definitely not black. Lame

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

imagine buying this because you think it looks nifty and having all of your car windows smashed out one day lol

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I live in the very African-American majority town of Gary, Indiana. There's a dipshit down the street with the wifi SSID of RaHoWa, which

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

is a racist slogan for "Racial Holy War." He's also flying a confederate and a "Trump 2024 the victory tour" flag.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Having never seen that symbol before, I knew it was a Nazi symbol the moment I saw it. I just could not Nazi It.

4 years ago | Likes 262 Dislikes 28

So close

4 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

I think he intended the double negative... he "could not not see it"...

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

That…that makes sense

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a shirt with that symbol and a dog on a few years back, wore it often until I realised what it actually meant. Oops.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, someone should get q smashed window with a rock

4 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 10

I was told that was a sun wheel or Wheel of Odin, a Norse symbol.. learned it's a tenuous link at best. This particular design is modern.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Neo-nazis love that faux-Norse shit because Christianity is too Jewish for them.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I thought Prince Xizor ran Black Sun

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A guy drives his truck around the San Diego freeways with Nazi flags, it’s not that uncommon unfortunately..

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 2

Sounds like an enemy combatant..

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He would have been shot on sight for that 80 years ago

4 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Seems like the sort of thing an insurance company would refuse to insure. Just asking to be vandalized flying that shit.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Where is this?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I am Jewish, a granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, and I didn’t know that. Thank you for sharing.

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

haha

Go away troll

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

What the FUCK.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Interesting. I've read a lot of WWII history and never encountered that symbol. I've learned something today~

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's neo-nazi shit not old school Nazi shit

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No, old nazi shit too. Himmler designed it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

seriously? damn I just read a good fantasy novel called Black Sun by native author Rebecca Roanhorse

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Seems its specifically a "neo-Nazi" symbol.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

actually.. you are wrong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wewelsburg

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What part of that is relevant? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sun_(symbol)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and this part of your article backs me up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wewelsburg#North_Tower

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

in that case... you earned yourself half a beer

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nazi coward. Not brave enough to use their regular symbol.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

are there variations? bc that is different

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dude I saw a guy driving around with his young daughter with the SS logo in huge letters on the side of his car. Poor kid.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Why do Nazis always drive Chevys?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know. Why?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Punch a Nazi

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 5

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would have given that man a hearty thumbs down

LoL, wow. You don't like what I said so I'm a Nazi and should kill myself?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

You don't tell someone a thumbs down. You just you know thumbs down

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I hate how they try to steal other symbols like Norse ones. Fuck that. Hail Odin, punch a Nazi.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

I can't seem to keep up with the times b/c I had no clue they're stealing runes now. Wtf?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah...the Nazis did it, because iirc, the upper brass were into occultism. Now NeoNazis use them frequently -_- it drives us nuts.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since the 40's I'm afraid

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fellow Norse Pagan here, it irks me to no end when people see my rune tattoos and ask if I'm a Nazi -_-

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I almost got a rune tattoo. I’m glad I didn’t just cause of the nazis. Fuck them.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i had to stop wearing my bracelets at work because there were a few complaints about the runes on them.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's shit, dude. I'm sorry, I'm always worried about my boss complaining about my jewelry too. This is going to be a uphill battle for us.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I saw a ton of them at the last Slayer concert. We actually had a Nazi counting competition when we realized...

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

When there are that many Nazi's at your concert and you don't denounce them doesn't that make you complicit?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 7

I heard that Samuel Colt made a good Nazi counting tool, but you have to reset it every 6 clicks

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

By WWII, John Browning had upgraded it to 7 clicks plus an extra click in the pipe if you're feeling saucy.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 4

The appropriate response to seeing a Nazi. Remember that

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck, dude. I could watch nazis get punched in the face all day.

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Mmm, not a fan personally; because it legitamizes their feelings of being victims of persecution, which they then use to their advantage.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 13

I don’t think Nazis feel persecuted. They just hate everyone and blame everything for their own pathetic lives.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(Guy with ultimate symbol of hatred on his armband): "Let's be civil..." - (Black giant of swift justice): "Nope, sleep time!"

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

Handing out naps like a boss.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Imgur mods absolutely fucking hate this gif. I'm amazed it's been up this long.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

So satisfying! How many times have I watched this loop?

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I don't know which one is the Nazi.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 22

Not sure if troll, nazi, moron, or all of the above

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Too bad we don't know the license plate

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 6

Some might say I did take a pic of the plate lol

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

Doxxing is still bad mmkay

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 29

Not if you're doxing nazis. Fuck nazis.

4 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 8

fuck nazis

4 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

Doxxing is when personal info that isn't otherwise public is made public. License plates are quite public.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

Some places consider spreading any kind of information with malicious intent as doxxing, this includes even things like twitter handles.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also this, I do OSINT and you have to be very careful about not sharing stuff you find.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is true, but also false. I know for certain in California license plates are considered PII and doing so could get you in trouble.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

In other states, you may get in trouble for intent. If you posted it and said something along "get this guy"

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

In regards to public agencies collecting license plate information.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

No, this can apply to a individual. You also may be breaking ToS by sharing such things.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I thought it was one of the many Star Wars symbols people are getting tattooed on themselves.

4 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

I guess all Mandalorians play Fender guitars or basses

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No the black sun in star wars is like a pointy ring around a dot

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I also thought it looked like an imperial symbol or something.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Lots of stuff in Star Wars is based on WWII.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

While I'm against what that symbol stands for I gotta say if it wasn't for the nazi thing its a cool looking symbol

4 years ago | Likes 460 Dislikes 16

I was gonna say the same. It’s kinda like a spiderweb

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I totally would've thought sci-fi or steam punk... good to know ahead of time...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

God Dam it Nazi's why are you so fashionable, you evil fucking bastards.- Atun-Shei Films

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I’d seen that before knowing what it meant, I’d have thought they might be a fan of those new airless tires.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my default is to assume this dumbass got a cool sticker he found some place and has no idea

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

im jewish and has no idea…. but i also wouldn’t put random symbols i didn’t understand on my car so i’m at an impasse with myself

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's part of the reason why they chose it.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It's a Norse symbol. They stole it because they can't make anything good. They only steal.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The shittiest thing about the Nazis was that their propaganda was on point. Big eagles, iron crosses, huge architecture. Great aesthetic.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don’t forget uniforms by Hugo Boss

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They probably stole it

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

They did. Stole and then modified for their purposes.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the nazis are double assholes for having cool stuff and ruining by being assholes.

4 years ago | Likes 165 Dislikes 1

I have a tickle of memory that suggests they (designers of nazi uniforms) got on fashion magazine covers decades ago.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, Nazi uniforms were designed by Hugo Boss…

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At very least, I do remember a panel from Maus (1980) mentioning how good the father looked in a properly sized CC prisoner outfit.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This right here. Black leather dust coats are badass but thanks to nazi officers they're off limits.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My brother gifted me a cup with pathfinder symbol from Iceland. Seeing it helped me get through. Learned it's used by white nationalists /1

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I got a cup with NASA's Pathfinder instead, to drink my coffee in public. Retired the original /End

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yep that's true for a lot of totalitarian icons. Nazis and Soviets had cool art in service of evil.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have to agree. Same with leadership ranks for the KKK. Racists took the title “Grand Dragon” and I’m pissed.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

There's also the Sons of Confederate Veterans. They're KKK-lite. They aren't recognized by any genealogical, reenactment, or historical

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Groups. They have Facebook pages, ffs. It's all hate. Tate Reeves belongs to them (not a shocker).

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heard there's all sorts of cool titles like Lord High Cyclops and Imperial Wizard and stuff like that. Buncha nerds.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They've ruined a lot of good symbols...this, the swastika, runes...

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

That pisses me off to no end

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tailored leather trenchcoats...

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Skull badges for hats

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The Holbein style knife too. Those are just beautiful.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They stole a lot of awesome symbols that stand for wonderful things and bastardized them. I'm white, so I can't try to make a zen garden or

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have the proper statues with the proper symbols (people will think I'm trying to get away with hiding Nazi symbols). The original ones are

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lovely, still widely used, and have beautiful meanings with long history. I wish they could be reclaimed for their peaceful meanings.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can you imagine not knowing what it stood for, I didn't, and just thinking that's cool and putting it on your vehicle?

4 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 0

I live in fear of doing exactly this.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it looks native or Aztec almost *shrug* Nazi's ruined a lot of symbols =(

4 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

My parents bought a used van with a cool owl sticker on it. My mom scraped it off because she didn't know if it meant something or not.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh no, please don’t tell me they’ve ruined the iconography around owls too!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully that's the situation this guy is in and someone tells him nicely.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Like all the cops and vets with punisher stickers

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Or getting it as a tattoo!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That would also require a tattoo shop not noticing what it was and saying something, but OOOOOF

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anytime I make something I check to make sure any symbols/designs don't mean anything shady. It can takes hours but worth it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, I can imagine it. I would not be willing to put money on it being coincidence, but sure, it's not outside the realm of chance.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I a kid I saw an episode of Superman, with frozen guys with arm bands waking up, thought the symbol looked cool so I started drawing it

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of when my siblings and I found stuffed animal in our new house. All girls we had no idea it was a stuffed penis. Awkward convo

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

?noredirect

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I did the same thing as a kid. It was an awkward conversation to explain to me what it was.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's basically the entire purpose Anime has with Nazis. They look cool and Western.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Season 2 of Jojo's Bazaar Adventure. Our heroes are saved from the vampire hoards with the help of...the Nazis! Uh...yay? maybe, I guess?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure most nazi esque stuff in anime is paired with imperialism, boy let me tell you how much those animators hate imperialism

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

It depends. I've encountered works where I'm pretty sure the author thought Imperial Japan wasn't such a bad idea.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's only in younger generations that didn't deal with it, from my experience living there

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So was the swastika. Was used as a religious symbol for centuries before those fucking twats latched onto it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Say what you want about the tennents of national socialism dude, but at least their graphic design skills are half decent.

4 years ago | Likes 229 Dislikes 6

What's your point koala?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

That's because they appropriated symbols from Norse mythology and India.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They lifted pretty much all of it from different sources, though.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Aren't those just recycled Norse runes or something similar? Hardly original thinking either way

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yup, good luck symbols in many different societies. Hindus still utilize to mean that

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they were run by an artist

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They literally just copied someone else's work.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

They stole most of their iconography from other cultures. Typical.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Well, that, and a few squiggly lines are a pretty simple way to make a symbol.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*Tenets. Tenants = dwelling-occupiers, Tennant = Doctor Who actor, Tennent = mountain in the ACT

4 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Tenet = disappointing movie

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I liked it. It did break its own rules quite a bit though.

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

The Nazi one has 12 "legs". There are similar ones non-Nazi (kind of like with swastika))

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

They are variants of a symbol commonly knows as the solar cross.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My family is Buddhist and I actually have necklaces of the swatizka or we call it chữ vạn I can never wear because you know

4 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Is it a direct copy or are there noticable differences?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only to the incredibly uncommonly educated. Hitler reversed it, turned it 45 degrees, and sometimes the original includes dots in the spokes

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Iirc it originally stood for the sun or good luck but that knowledge is not nearly as common as the nazi usage.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hitler's version has an “X” at its center, while the Buddhist version has a plus sign.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Underrated comment of the year

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same thing with their uniforms. They're abhorrent people but you gotta admit the SS were snappy dressers.

4 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

Hugo Boss designed them.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

With the leather and the dancing!

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's springtime for Hitler and Germany.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Winter...for Poland....and Fraaaaaance

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you, Hugo Boss.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Damn came here to say that.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

When I learned that fact, it became clear why the Proud Boys use the black and yellow Hugo Boss shirts as their unofficial uniform

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

40k guardsmen of krieg. German uniforms, none of the nazis

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's cause the Death Korps is more WWI Germany than it is WWII.
