I think we should open up the voter rolls to the Selective Service System and those who voted for Trump or did not vote get extremely low lottery numbers.
Many of gen-z lost their healthcare, most gen-z is 13-28, and are in the process of loosing their parents coverage. I am not Gen-z and am going through healthcare hell rn. I can't imagine them in worse boats rn.
18-29-year-olds favored Harris by a margin of almost 20 points, the largest margin of any age cohort; why are people in here talking like they're Alabama voters or something? If you want to blame someone for Trump winning the election, have you considered the culpability of the leadership of the opposition party? You know, the people who actually can influence things, but decided that supporting genocide and health insurance companies was more important than winning elections?
Was disheartened when I read how many gen z'ers went for trump. Part of me is glad that they finally woke up and realized what he really is. Part of me wants to slap them over the back of the head b/c it's not like was impossible to see what trump was all along. And part of me wants to enact a policy where if someone ever votes republican, they're the first warm bodies sent to whatever stupid war the republicans cook up, and they are the first ones to lose anything that republicans try to cut
in terms of benefits or other social programs. They last republican needs to feel the consequences of their poor choices before the first democrat does.
Their intention is to 100% not have one if they think they will lose. Given that they are currently on course to lose in a catastrophic landslide and dipshit is already "joking" (he's not joking) about cancelling the election, well take a guess what their plan is.
Yeah, by now people should know that he doesn't joke. He either lies or literally tells you how he's gonna break the law next. Or mumbles some incoherent sequence of words about a topic he doesn't understand the slightest notion of.
If referring to Gen Z I think it's "fuck them for not voting" possibly? Just like the UK and Brexit (screwing themselves for a stupid decision) the missing youth vote then is why youths future (and their slightly aged present) is imperilled now.
"Members of Gen Z are consuming narratives as opposed to news, according to Hall. Instead of reading the facts of the events, they jump straight to the commentary of their favorite influencer, who is more of a “narrative builder” rather than a journalist, he said."
Absolutely. It's been apparent, for years.. hell, for decades.. what, and who, Donald Trump is. The fact that so many people allowed themselves to be deluded because, God forbid, we elect a woman, much less one of color who's not very tall.. well, hell, we'll pretend that the grossly unqualified failure is acceptable, over that!
On the one hand - I'm not going to fault Gen Z. It's a right to be able to vote who you think is better, and they didn't grow up with Bush, Reagan and the like.
On the other hand - they were around during Stinky's first term, and were born with an internet I didn't see until my mid teens.
What I'm getting at is that today. you literally have access to the world's knowledge in your hand. You can fact check in real time. Sometimes it's worth a look.
And lost something up to 200k men with around the same amount of wounded while they killed around 26k Yeah they won the winter war because they could afford to just throw soldiers on the problem.
How well would that work with the US army ? In Vietnam the US lost 58k
Its not considered as win from ruskies side. They lost lot more and it was 100% failure in all aspects. We had to surrender becuase nobody came to our aid back then. Nobody. Some minor help came but nothing that really helped.
I hope the parts of Gen-Z that voted for this sh*t stain get a trip to Venezuela, where guerrilla fighters are going to make their lives a living hell.
Condemning kids that have been indoctrinated since birth and have to sort through all the lies and come into adulthood during COVID is not the move my friend. Their brains are only just now fully forming like.... Perhaps give them a break and focus on the grown adults that encouraged them to vote that way. Ostracizing them won't help us now.
Fuck that. If the courts can and do go after a 13 year old as an adult in the committing of some crimes then the voting age dumbasses that voted for Temu Hitler get what they fucking deserve if they get co scripted into a war on foreign soil.
That's a strange hill to die on, friend. Do you think 13 year olds should be tried and convicted as adults? Because I sure don't. In fact I think the entire incarceration system needs an overhaul. Do away with mandatory minimum sentencing. Anyways, I got off topic. If you or someone you know made a mistake as a kid & were held by that standard for the rest of your life, I'm sorry because no one deserves that. Outside of rape and murder, most fuck ups done by kids are done unintentionally.
Never said that 13 years olds should be tried as adults. I said we have a government that says that some should, the same one that now is telling ICE that they can do whatever they want to do to us.
While in the same breath condemning kid's choices made at a young and impressionable age, doubling down on the fact that these now young adults deserve to be sent to death camps? As if it's all their fault? As if we didn't have 4 years to put safety nets in place to limit the next president's power? As if most of the fully grown adults just pretended like nothing ever happened 2016-2020? I'm so sick of you centerists.
Voting "incorrectly" should not be a death sentence. I don't wish it on my family who all are in the MAGA cult. Or my coworkers, neighbors, etc. That is simple thinking. That is how THEY think. We are better than that.
Your family, co workers, and neighbors lives aren't at risk because of the way they voted. Mine is.
Fuck your family, they are the reason I have to keep looking over my shoulder every day. They are the reason I am not sure if I will wake up in a concentration camp tomorrow.
And fuck you, for defending people like that. For trying to act as if they are some innocent party to all this and not watching gleefully.
That's fine ignore the rest of the thread where I'm specifically talking about kids that made bad choices. What grown folk do is their problem. I'm just a person expressing empathy for kids catching flack at the same amount that fully grown adults should be getting, that's all. Fuck me for defending kids, COOL. If this is the allyship to be expected from centerists, count me out. Otherwise watch where you spit, comrade!
Ahh yes, the kids, who are old enough to legally vote, but not old enough to understand what they are voting for. The oh so young widdle 18 ywar old children that can't possibly comprehend what they are voting for. How can I sit here and condemn a child who is too young to understand anything that they you, but yet they are old enough to vote anyways.
Fuck you and your bullshit. Stop infantalizing them. If they are old enough to vote, they are old enough to understand what thry voted for
And holy shit, how ignorant you are my friend. Soooo many black and brown trumpies in my neck of the woods. Will happily suck Donny dick for a piece of the corruption pie. It's not like they have support from the general population anyway, so they'll happily do anything to keep their hands on the money-pile.
the problem is that the gangs know that Trump is like the worst person to make a deal whit as deals whit trump is just him doing a dice role twice a day and ether stays or does a 180 on you. Plus if Trump lands US troops in Venezuela it will hurt the cartels so they will fight.
YOU know that making a deal with Trump is the worst If that information were as "seeped in" as people think it is, then there wouldn't be so many corrupt people lining up to make deals with him
The US coming in is *not* business as usual. It's disruption in supply chains, unwanted attention, new hands to bribe... No matter which way you cut it, no matter if someone likes Maduro or not. The US is not coming to save anyone there.
People love to blame the "protest votes" which i think is not only nonsense, but provable bullshit. Gen z is who i blame. Young white males for trump voted in high numbers, even young women. They followed their influencers because they are young and dumb
But also faced with a sophisticated, pervasive propaganda machine that has *never* had this level of ubiquity, access, and targeting capability. Yeah there was TV news and talk radio but not custom algorithms that chose individually crafted propaganda messages, seemingly coming organically from millions of fellow people who were in fact largely foreign and often entirely fictitious, in your pocket, every waking hour.
They had the liar's fire hoses on them full blast for basically their entire lives, in a way that no generation has ever dealt with. It's not surprising that it worked well; rather it's actually remarkable how resistant they were to it.
"Protest votes" are one small part of the larger problem of just... non-voters in general. They're the ones who really handed Trump the election. "I'm not gonna vote for Harris because Gaza!" is just one of the dumber, more outspoken excuses people manufactured to justify not voting.
Logically faulty when you consider that Trump was obviously going to be at least as bad on that front for sure. But I think people's opposition to a party openly stating they are going to continue supporting what is clearly a genocide should not be described as "manufactured". That's a real and big concern, trying to downplay it will only push these people further away.
Don't care. Those people can go fuck themselves. If they're that stupid and naive, they're going to find a reason not to vote anyway. They deserve everything bad that follows.
Oh wow! The same losing strategy the Democrat politicians employed. "Fuck your opinions and desired policies, vote for me because you have to". Not disagreeing that it was important to vote Democrat and that more people should have, but not giving a fuck about their concerns about a literal genocide is not going to sway anyone, it's just digging your boots in the ground about how right you feel
Look, as someone who lives in the Detroit area, and knows Palestinians personally...it was more like, "I'm not gonna vote for the people killing my people right now, at this very moment, and the other guy (who isn't killing my people right now) might not kill my people." I'm not saying it was a smart idea, but it wasn't necessarily stupid. Reality is grayscale, man.
...because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for the people actively committing genocide on them because the other guy might be worse? That's a weird take.
Basically, yes. Specifically men, essentially because of the manosphere influencers like Theo von and also Rogan. The women in that demographic were pretty staunchly against him, but it’s the young men who are getting buyers remorse. I don’t think they were generally politically aware enough to realize how bad Trump’s first term was
It’s just taking advantage of young men and giving them answers that they want to hear.
“Hey, I’m not able to make a lot of money off the bat and I’m not getting laid.” Is a pretty common, normal thing that people go through. It’s frustrating, but you learn how to do the work and better yourself and respect women to build a relationship.
But the Manosphere offers shortcuts and tells men that they’re ENTITLED to money and sex. Just disrespect women and sign up for my program. Shitty stuff
Well the Dems message to young men of “you’re all rapist pieces of shit and we don’t give a shit about your ‘issues’” didn’t really help. Made it incredibly easy for Republicans to manipulate them.
That’s not what I’m talking about here. And certainly was not the messaging they received. Which allowed the “Alt-Right”manosphere horseshit to swoop in easily. Until Dems fix their shit, they will continue to make the same stupid decisions and lose the same groups over and over.
"how dare you ask me to be introspective about the culturally ingrained biases and toxic norms that I have internalized! How dare you ask me to be better and improve our culture! I'm going to take these things personally and double down on being the absolute shittiest version I can be now!"
Eh, it's less extreme and more concrete than that.
DEI recruitment programs are a good thing, but they have the effect of making primarily young men bear the cost of atoning for older men's harassment and discrimination.
If they say "I don't have anything to do with the fact that you never used to hire women" - true - "and these programs seem unfair" and get told "Well that makes you a simple minded shit", I'm not gonna be surprised when they say "Well then fuck you and your ideas".
Nah, I have to agree with that on a small level, based on talks with younger co-workers, even lefty ones.
From my end, it's not that they're being specifically harassed, but the clueless DNC assumes that males are a-okay by default, and so has no messaging of "yes, you too belong here".
The alt-right has skilfully capitalized on this. Hence the common refrain, "why would I vote for people who hate me".
Yes, they're being shitty, but it's worth examining why Gen Z shifted from the Millennials.
