They are constantly looking for new talents, the reason why the same core group of actors always get the leading roles is very simple, they are spending hundreds of millions on the movies, and they want to know the lead roles are being played by someone who can get people to go out and see the movie. And new or lesser know actors are not as reliable for that as well known A list actors.

Absolutely. It's stuff like this, that is why things like Raygun happen and surprise people. There are way better Australian breakdancers. People that have money are the ones that can afford to chase their dreams more easily, and there's little to no mechanisms to allow everyone a shot at things. Obviously some people overcome this through a combination of determination, opportunity, skill, etc. But yeah, then there's the 'bad luck' of things like, you weren't Weinstein's type like you said.

There's a reason Hollywood casts the same people a lot: they've proven they can do the job. That job is getting butts in seats and showing the audience a good time once they're there. Inexpensive movies, like horror movies typically, can afford to take risks on new folks in a way hundred million dollar budgeted movies can't. Inde Navarrete has shown she can do that job with obsession, now she's got the big budget franchise movie offer to go with that success.

The way most movies are produced in Hollywood is one of two ways; you have the budget to attract the star... or you have the star to attract the budget. That's true even in the indy scene. Everyone in Obsession had some credits, but the headlining star was Andy Richter.

People want 'talent' and 'good films' but they don't really understand that the funding often has to come from somewhere. The reason why big names tend to be in so many different films? Because either their name brings in the funding or they've got their own money that they don't have to care how a movie goes. Want more movies with some degree of quality and truly varied casts? Get Hollywood to care less about truly making a profit off movies. Get the costs of making movies to be cut down.

Yep, serialized shows are fodder for actors to build relationships with producers, which is critical for "really making it". Obviously a monster percentage never break out of guest appearances, but the real "overnight successes" are a rounding error on a rounding error on a rounding error.
