A/V tech of 12 years here. Can confirm, SM58's are the Nokias of the audio world. You could easily take someones head off using one as a ball and chain with the XLR cord attached, then plug it in and sing of your glory afterwards.

An SM-58 is basically a small mace. They are really hard and heavy.

Yeah, I've tried it briefly when evaluating microphones for my home setup (... for TTRPG uses, because I'm a fucking nerd).
Ultimately settled on a condenser (namely: WA-47jr), but the SM-58 was definitely *bulky*.
