You call me sweaty, you pay double.

#1 they actually made it to the Titanic several times, but the structural integrity of the Hull was already shaky before they left it out in the freezing cold for months.

The mute button is my answer to incessant ad grifters. Next step, teach siri how to mute the tv so I won

#25 I pay school taxes and donate to PBS because I don't want to live around a bunch of stupid people.

Exactly for pretty much all of it.

Two of the left-wing grievances are right-wing grievances, too. It's just that the right has no interest in actually doing anything about them.

#5 Oh so this is why my managers insist that there's no need for me to sit in on the meeting because they can summarise it for me and that my time is better spent focusing on the tasks on my to-do spider diagram.

#2 I mean work does just suck sometimes. There's tasks that must be done to keep the world functioning that just straight up aren't fun, but need to be done anyway. Work doesn't need to be made to suck extra, and we should always be trying to minimize how much it sucks, and we should be paying the people doing the shitty jobs commensurate to that, but at the end of the day loving your job, or doing an easy job isn't a luxury everyone gets. Appreciate the people doing the hard jobs.

#38 it takes 3 fuckin years to pay it off now.

downright devious as an extension of the new subscription to life policy: if you are poor, you shouldn't be able to own anything. Rent, Lease, Insure - otherwise die.

#2 So it turns out that people don't respond as well to medicine that doesn't taste bad. Shitty tasting placebos also get a stronger result

#2 Why did we learn to make fire? Why did we leave the caves? Why did we develop agriculture and form permanent settlements? Why did we study the world around us to figure out how things worked? Why did we form communities? Why did we invent art, and dancing, and music?
All of human civilization has been the pursuit of making life less difficult. It isn't "supposed" to be hard. It *is* hard, and *we* are supposed to take the next step forward.
thekeyofe
#2 They make medicine taste bad on purpose so people won't chug it.
But there's no good reason why work HAS to suck or why life HAS to be hard.
TheBigBadBonerBiter
I was gonna say, making medicine not taste like shit sounds like a good way to accidentally kill yourself.

#5 There's actually a whole root-cause-analysis system in manufacturing called the "Five whys" that's basically just repeatedly asking "Why?" Why did the machine fail? It lost hydraulic pressure. Why? A fluid leak. Why did it leak? A gasket broke. Why? Turns out it wasn't rated for that much pressure. So then you have an actual root cause, instead of "There's a broken gasket, let's replace it and call it a day."

#44 calling every single thing antisemitic has really got me either not giving a shit or not believing when people talk about antisemitic stuff happening and that is 100% Isreals fault.

The beautiful part of this is, if you're MAGA, you are not loved and respected, Trump hates you, and you're paying too much for groceries.
Zero for three. Well played.
QuitLookinAtMineAim
I'm not maga, but trump hates me and I'm paying too much for groceries. The love and respect is debatable.

#2 Calvinists. They're why the US hates the poor, the prosperity doctrine.

#22 it means I want everyone to have their constitutional freedoms regardless of their private life, which should stay as private as they prefer, and I believe in social programs over funding the great big war machine. Take that money out of our military, stop wasting it on stupid ass shit, and take care of our people. That’s what I mean by fiscal conservative but maybe it means something else.
llamableat
it's what it should mean, and maybe did at some point; now more of a screen for those embarassed by their vote

#5 as an accountant on the spectrum- all the fucking yes!!!! I have actually done this most of my career and my clients thanked me for always being straightforward and honest. The corporate jargon is a waste of time and is just empty words!
JConIII
Did they base the movie "The Accountant" on your life?
kmikl
IT has this as well with auditors and risk managers. The number of times I have to calmly ask people to "make it make sense, explain this like I'm 5" tends to weedwhack the BS away in a hurry.
AtmaDarkwolf
"Hype speech" is some of the most annoying, empty 'fill the air with sound' I have ever heard, and what sickens me even more about it, is how they can often get an entire freaking room cheering along with it. It is nonsense and morons are hooting at it like its the most unique, ground breaking shit they ever heard.
VikingsAreNinjaPirates
Our company went without a CEO for years, so I wrote a Magic 8 Ball-style program to emulate one (the CTO who was running the company loved it). It would coin flip if you asked it anything about strategy initiatives and spit out business school jargon like, "We need to synergize our verticals to extrapolate our market residuals." At the end of the year, I had it produce a Slack message from the Robo-CEO: "We didn't make as much money as we could have. Please invest in us. Give me $5 million."
VikingsAreNinjaPirates
Still not the worst CEO I've worked with. It liked my proposal to stop software development and pivot to becoming a bakery. Who knows what useless shit I could get it to do now with large-language models.

#5 - I'm in IT security risk management.
This is how I make a a good salary and have other companies bugging me to work for them weekly. Seriously, if you have ADHD, ASD or AuHD, this is the kind of job that you're tailor made for: it is literally cutting through corporate bullshit, and getting to brass tacks.
The fact that it's mandatory in some industries so it makes neuro-typical and otherwise normies squirm is an added bonus if that's your thing.
IDontKnowWhatToDoAnymoreAndImTired
If you ever decide to start a consulting business, I'd be interested in joining up and I think I could find at least three more top recruits for you.
WanderinBard
AuDhd here and in the same line of work for the past few years. It's been good.

Thank you for the advice, I have been considering something like this since I realized half my goddamn colleagues can't even recognize a phishing email (which gets through our security system because the link itself and even the actual website are clean).
What sort of qualifications did you need to get started? Because my undiagnosed ADHD was part of the reason I didn't finish college, so getting taken seriously in any professional field is a bit of a challenge.
