It was marketing to show they were giving you the best, not just watery slop. It went with commercials priming customers to be excited for the display.

Ok, the thing with blizzards is they were thick enough to turn upside down and not move for that 1-2 seconds. They have to do that, or you get it for free. Dunno how many DQ places still honor it, and some don't take care of their machines, or put too much stuff that would melt the soft serve faster, and it's a dangerous game. But it had a point. It was a pretty big deal in the soft serve world for a couple of decades.
Well, no, but you would get the entertainment of watching them make a new one. I didn't make the rules, I just know what a pain in the ass it was having to do it 30yrs ago.
