Tron: Ares

Dec 28, 2025 9:11 AM

I thought that the original Wendy Carlos music and older graphics was a nice touch when they went back to the original grid. I liked the many callbacks and easter eggs. The fights were... visually stunning and had it been 30 years ago they would have wowed me. The story was... also there. All in all it was a movie that reminded me that better movies exist. I think that might be Jared Leto's appeal - reminding you that a better movie in the franchise exists. Like, sure Morbius exists but so do the superior Blade movies. Like sure Blade Runner 2 exists but so does the far better original. Like, sure Suicide Squad exists but so does any other DCU movie.

I've seen this before. Jared's probably pedaling something and the movie rolls are his payout. It's either coke or preteens.

my golden life is to find somebody who has as much love and faith for me as some rich fucking asshole in Hollywood does for Jared Leto

He offers to help pay for the movies production, as long as they do him one little thing...

Hollywood is a small club and sometimes skill isn't a requirement

My favorite Jared Leto movie is the one where he just acts as a slightly different version of Jared Leto

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The perfect Jared Leto role is his part in Fight Club: he’s only in the move for 5 minutes, he gets the shit kicked out of him, and he has 0 lines. Perfect performance. No complaints. 5 stars.

His part in fight club was good. His best performance

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because Leto is legitimately a fantastic actor. Go watch Dallas Buyer's Club or Requiem For A Dream if you don't believe me.

However, he shouldn't be getting cast because of the whole 'trying to start a creepy sex cult' thing.

I feel like those are the only movies where's he is actually doing a good job.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The only reason he was actually decent in most of Tron was because the character by its nature is supposed to be bland and 1 dimensional. He did a terrible job at the end when he was supposed to be doing the opposite……

"The story was ... also there." That's the tag-line they should show in bold letters on the tv commercial

I enjoyed Tron Ares

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The soundtrack is better than the movie.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I enjoyed both

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was alright in Requiem for a Dream. Imo.

I mean, none of the Tron movies have actually been all that successful.
Both prior movies bombed at the box office.
Tron as a series is one that everyone recognises, but few actually go and watch.

My theory? Have a franchise worth a lot but you know it's next movie is gonna give middling returns? Put leto in it and make it completely tank allowing you to claim the insurance. Bonus points if you pay as little as possible to produce it.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok, but that brings the question: what insurance company would cover anything Leto touches at this point? He consistently bombs the stuff he's in, and the closer he is to the lead, the harder it bombs. Insurance companies don't insure guaranteed failures. Home insurance companies all left Florida because hurricane damage is so likely that they can't afford the payouts. Leto is like a hurricane in Hollywood.

Like nine women (some underage) have accused him of sexual misconduct too. I guess that whole #metoo thing didn't do much to clean up the industry after all.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He is the perfect 'nothing' actor. As in, the majority of stuff he's in would suffer nothing if he were removed. Perhaps even be improved.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Well Morbius was so bad that he actually improved it, by being hilariously even worse.

Only role of his I tolerated, because his sole purpose was to stand off to the side and be a pretty face. His only acting "skill".

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are many reasons to love Fight Club, seeing Jared Leto get the shit beaten out of him is just one

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He hijacked tron:ares to be his own personal fanfiction where he's the center of attention.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm convinced he has dirt on someone.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same reason Dean Cain keeps getting work.

Does he? I thought he was mostly unemployed these days, enough so that he thought joining ICE was a step up.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He does. And yeah, that's just Dean Cain.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My guess? He/his cult has some damning evidence on some prominent people in show biz and its his bargaining chip.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think he feeds off killing budding franchises.

I liked the idea of him as Jordan Catalano in My So-called Life. When I was a kid. And then every movie he was in all had him as characters I didn't like. And then I rewatched MSCL during the pandemic and realized his character sucked then too.

He owns his own production company, he also has a lot of connections within Hollywood.
Most of getting cast in stuff in Hollywood is about knowing the right people.
And he knows a lot of the right people and through his production company he has some pull in the decision-making process.

Let all your blood out and you won't have to worry about high blood pressure!

8 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Eventually he had to bomb enough movies that there just isn't any money left to cast him in these things right? Yeah, he's got connections, but if you cost your friends millions of dollars every year, they eventually stop working with you. This feels like a "the market can stay irrational for longer than you can stay solvent" type problem.

8 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He helps pay for things via his production company.
And he gets enough from residuals to keep the money flowing in.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

he is also the head of a cult. so theres that too. im sure its not a sex thing....

8 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Yes, but at least he's up front about it being a cult.
Which is different from like 99% of cults.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s ALWAYS a sex thing

8 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

But does he have a business card? Let's see his business card.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was floored to learn that he's the lead of 30 Seconds To Mars, which explained why I don't like that band, and the fact that he has a full on cult stemming from said band. He has a fuckload of money just from that, and then there's everything else. The dude knows people and knows how to know people.. no matter how shitty he is, you can't deny that his charisma gets him places we could only dream.

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Now if only he could show that Charisma on screen, people might like his acting a bit more.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Speak for yourself. The places he goes are ones that accept people like him.

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hollywood is like Facebook. They get the same joke content but years later. It takes years for them to sway because filming is often years into production. Oh, you don't like this guy? Well, he's in 4 more films that were shot in 2018, and we're waiting for the CG dept. to catch up.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right!?!
Why the FK are all of these HORRIBLE people still getting work in Hollywood?!?
Hiring toxic predators should be a thing of the past by now...

8 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Given the current leader of their country is a pretty significant one, I don't think their day is past just yet.

8 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

HE specifically is horrible or his acting is?

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Him specifically - runs a cult and has a looot of allegations against him, including from underaged...

(and not just "ooh, maybe" - there's proof)

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if it’s HIM the people in charge haven’t realized that your generation sticks to their guns when it comes to ostracization.. for them, fuck that guy forever only rings true with women, blacks, communists.. NOT WHITE MEN! Personally, I’m too old to keep up with all the slights and subsequently instituted bans. With Jared Leto I just assumed he was a bad actor, but never saw that myself so end up confused about his back to back bombs. Life is hard, stay frosty.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I work with a bunch of middle class men and women of varying ages (20-55) with plenty of racial diversity, and I can say none of them give a fuck about things like that at all. Leto could have been found guilty of raping someone while also strangling kittens and puppies at the same time and these people wouldn't hold it against him. The people who are vocal about "fuck that person forever" online are a small minority from what I can tell.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jared Leto straight up is a cult leader based in Hollywood, like people legit worship him and Thirty Seconds to Mars

8 months ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

It’s so insane because he’s just so boring? 30 sec to mars is a very OK band, they are so inoffensive and bland. It’s like joining a cult with the head of The Fray.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

30 seconds to mars is shit! But let’s be real, Dallas buyers club was amazing and he was incredible in it!

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

And "Requiem for a Dream", great movie, I'll never try drugs ever.

Oscar winner Jared Leto. Given the right role he *can* shine. But definitely needs a better agent.

8 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

requiem for a dream, lord of war, dallas buyers club...he has a tendency for over-acting so he needs a somewhat crazy role in a somewhat surreal situation with other cast members also being kinda over-the-top so he doesnt stick out too much as the weird one...nicolas cage and matthew mcconaughey were perfect in that regard...so yeah, if he picked his roles more carefully people wouldnt talk as much shit about him...

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right? He's SO erm ... uh, whats the word.

Legends are a fucking riot

He's meh, he's not out right bad at acting.
He's just underwhelming at acting.
If he was bad, then some of the movies he's in might have the "It's bad but that makes it good" effect.
But he's kind of just there in most movies.

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He's been in some very good movies, but he's almost always the worst part of them. Even when he won an Oscar for Dallas Buyer's Club, he wasn't even in the top three best performances in that movie.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, he's mediocre and just drags in any movies that he's in.
But what is more common is that he's in a lot of movies with just god awful scripting and directing. Which is how you get things like Morbius, a bad movie not really because he was in it, and more just that it was a badly scripted and directed movie.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, he's a mid actor at best, but no one on Earth could've saved Morbius.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's a supporting character at best, but somehow keeps getting leading roles.
Most of the good movies he is in, are ones where he only has a few scenes in.
And the bad ones are when he's one of the main characters.
