Find a friend that will inform you after couple days away from The screen. We all need rest but we cant back down at the moment. TAKE CARE OF EACHOTHER
No tv? Irs good man. I do it almost every weekend. I dont really watch tv. My only screen time is my phone. I usually put on records or play guitar or read a book. Sometimes i will sit outside and feed the birds then sleep in the shade under my cherry tree. If i had a river or lake close by, i would be fishing or just chilling
I wish I could do that. I have to take 4 Benadryls, spaced apart by 1 hour each, then start taking melatonin, and I usually have a bottle of Pinot Noir these days, and sometimes that’s not enough to keep me from being up all night.
Decided to live analog, 1951-style for a full day. Stuck my laptop, phone, tv remote and PS5 controller in my backpack, and spent the whole day screenless. Read books, build Lego, do laundry, play board games, clean my room. It felt good. I honestly wouldn’t mind doing it again, maybe for a couple days or even a whole week. Try it yourself!
Probably haven't had a no screen day in years. But with summer I have lots of days outside all day long, but then I usually wind down with watching a few YouTube videos after dinner. I could switch in reading instead
In grad school I got to TA geology summer field camp for 2 weeks. With a few rare exceptions when we went into town, there was no cell service. No Internet. Just camping. On the last day I went on a hike with the other TA, the prof, and his dog. We were sliding back down in the snow on our butts, the dog was trying to "save" us and being silly. It was the only time in my adult life that I can say I was truly genuinely living in the moment and elated. I can't explain it, but not being tied to
Sounds great! I go out for section hikes on the Appalachian trail kind of like that. Though I do bring my camera, and I need my phone in case of emergencies
emails or phones and actually getting out of the habit of checking your devices or even thinking about them is truly amazing. I wish I could recreate it.

Had to make up for it today, huh?
AtmaDarkwolf
oh, power went out eh? :P
MissPhoenix56
I make it to camp outs a few times a year, being disconnected from the world for a few days at a time feels so nice.

LiarLiarPantsUntier
I fail this every morning at approximately 6:50 AM when my alarm goes off.
WickedSludge
God knew I would be too powerful if I could focus on one thing so he gave me a cell phone and computer.

?? Fuckin' so?

#1 The only daily screen should be sunscreen.
jtxyz
You're not that special, me neither.
It's like 3 degrees out, there's no way I'm opening up the windows today to use the screens. The airflow is nice but it's just too cold.
What? Oh.
NotThisGuyAgain
Intentionally spent an hour mid-day doing the same yesterday. It felt really good!

Did the power go out? Spend 24 hours in the holding tank? Get your foot stuck in a hole? What wacky situation occurred @Willk95
Willk95
Nothing happened. Just an experimental trial in self discipline

How did you get to sleep? I have to have the tv on or I can’t.
Willk95
I take melatonin. Read a few pages of my book.
Honestly it took a while for me to actually get to deep REM sleep, but eventually I got there

I’d love to rent a cabin for two weeks and be without tv/internet. Just to reset
GravyEducation
But what about if there was a guy with a knife and a mask living in the woods
azarza

aluckygrl

GravyEducation
But work is dumb though
BishlamekGurpgork
Agreed. But, you know, it's harder to live money-free than it is to live screen-free.

Teach me your secret on how to manage this on a Monday.

I did this by force in rehab - I hated it at first but it felt real good after a while.

This sounds like crazy talk. COMMIE crazy talk. Now I want to try this.
Sticklebrickk
I don't even have internet. I have my phone, but I like to listen to 8 tracks, records, and playing with lego or tinkering. It's a peaceful life.

You'd have to drop the Lego.
WaxDragon
But if you drop it, you might step on it
spittytrinkles
Lego Treadmill
Willk95
Why? I just took apart and rebuilt a few sets in my collection. Good way to kill a few hours
Whatdoyousaytoanicecupoftea
Wasn't around in that format till 1959.
TheBlueMuppet
Even then it was gray and burgundy blocks for a while.
Willk95
Ah. Well my point is that it’s a screen free activity
