I'm estranged from my family, I only have one friend and she's on the other side of the country from me, my last 10 dinners were either rice or baked beans, the roof over my head is drafty, moldy, noisy, tiny, is shared with two other flatmates, and is the best I can do in a housing crisis -- also, my estranged mom is helping me pay rent, which is another can of worms... so I guess I'm not rich. (I'm in this position because, due to immigration/visa laws, I have been legally prohibited from holding a full-time job for the past two years. I don't feel safe returning to the country where I was born and hold citizenship. )

#7 I fantasize about assassination of evil people, sends me right to sleep. Its just so relaxing. People say that you shouldn't wish ill on people, but I regard it as wishing for a better world.

Some of these try to make misery seem somehow better than the alternative, but there’s nothing romantic or noble about suicidal ideation.

I’m so very sorry you’re suffering. I hope you are able to find your way to joie-de-vivre sooner rather than later. I promise you it can absolutely get better. I know it will for you.

I do always love a nice pick me up joke. Life gets better, you are just too much.

I've been unable to legally work for two years despite having two M.A.s and 10+ years of software engineering experience.

Because of bureaucratic nonsense, I might not legally be able to work until April 2027. By which time there might not even *be* a tech industry. Quite frankly, I just don't see a reason to hope in this late-stage capitalist dystopian hellscape even if I *do* manage to get stable.

But yeah, I'll hang in there.
