I work in the ED at Yale in New Haven. Y’all...it’s been crazy. This is amazing. Got an email telling me to get my appointment set. I work a 3 day rotation over the weekend. Have a few days off after getting the vaccine to combat any side effects. I’m doing it! Here’s to hoping things can get back to normal for everyone.

It is a 2 stage vaccine. If you want, I will update with side effects for both. I’m just so excited. It honestly makes me feel like crying.

EDIT!!!!!!!!

Here is a link to the update I was asked for. https://imgur.com/gallery/KlELcyQ

Ah, I see we have the same employer. I haven't gotten my email yet, my name is lower in the list, still first wave, but lower.

Between people saying that they won't take it and having not enough for everyone from go facepalm.picard.jpg

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Great! Just curious - do they allow you folks tranquilizers? Gotta be awful in there these days, like a MASH unit.

I work in the psych side of the ED. No tents required. lol

Let us know of any superpowers that you get!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work for a health system in Alabama. They started our medical staff (volunteers) earlier this week. Support staff (such as myself) 1/

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/ should start getting the vaccine in a few weeks. I'm super excited.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you for what you do! I'm getting mine this week.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Here's hoping this isn't the T virus

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Here's hoping it IS the T-Rex virus! (as in... it turns people into t-rexes!)

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Let me know if you get sick. So I can use as evidence for my roommate that won't get one because he thinks it will kill him

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm happy for you! Yes, please.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also work in New Haven, got mine this morning at Griffin Hospital!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With the Covid vaccine coming soon, it's the perfect time to use natural selection on the anti-vaxxers.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I took a vaccine a few months ago when it was undergoing phase 3 testing and im just fine

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

ok Mr.Gates's robot. /s

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Thank you for participating in the trial :)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats! Question: Do they schedule you at the time you receive it for your second dose?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@Op do you need to take out a second mortgage to pay for it though?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vaccines in the us are usually free with insurance or cheap from the health department.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m frontline in the hospital. My job pays for it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congratulations it’s about time front line workers were at the front of the line for somthing

5 years ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 0

The sad thing is that front line workers who are not hospital staff won’t have priority access to the vaccine. 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

I work at a bike shop that has been open to the public this whole time and I am at risk of infection 5 days a week. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

While I appreciate you working, I’m oil and gas and have worked through it all as well. Someone fighting for lives can have my spot in line.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

We will get our turn soon enough.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Meanwhile I could get infected by one asshole customer at any time, while I am unable to protect myself unless I refuse to work.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congratulations! Please update!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let us know how the 5G signal strength is

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So once you're vaccinated are going to wear a mask or not? This should be interesting...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jealous

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone concerned about the potential long term side effects? Genuinely curious

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

These are programmers, so the immune system learns without the nastier side of the virus getting loose.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The term side effects for covid are much worse

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nope. What are you going to do, stay isolated for 10 years while you wait to see?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The 1st covid vaccine tests were 11 months ago. Even the weirdest rarest ones have shown themselves in that time (pandemrix -> narkolepsy)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Narcolepsy?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Finland somewhat under 200 ppl out of all swineflu vaccinated got narcolepsy symptoms 6-12 months after the shot. Adjuvant had some issue

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, sorry. I had read that previously, I thought you were referring to current COVID-19 vaccination trials. Thank you for clarifying.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you as concerned about the long term side effects of Covid?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yes. And considering I've been activated twice for support, I'm not too thrilled with it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought they are minimal considering it causes an immune response without attacking our bodies

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not me! Since the side effect of covid is fucking DEATH - any side effect from the vaccine will be mild by comparison.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I'm a soldier and in healthcare. Sometimes death is the preferable alternative

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So far, the biggest risk is an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. But that's true for any medicine, or food for that matter.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I was told point blank not to get it due to my allergic reaction to normal flu shots. I swell up like a balloon.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what herd immunity is for.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

me too! If I die I’ll let u know before u get yours

5 years ago | Likes 316 Dislikes 1

Idk if you kicked the big one, but I got all shot up and I’m still here.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If he dies?

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Let's just assume that if he doesn't respond, the vaccine turns you into a zombie.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Lol no!, but that would make it a little difficult

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Especially if he dies!!!!

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Yes

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

What side effects are you worried about? Honest question

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

This year I got suddenly diagnosed with diverticulitis and had the surgery to remove a portion of my colon (all in the same year)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So between diagnosis and surgery I had a FEW infections and ER visits. I’m still recovering so anything that could impact that or weaken me.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Obviously beyond that I don’t have any preexisting conditions. But quite honestly I’ve had my fill of illness of ANY kind this year.
