Fuck this guy. If you drive drunk, put people's lives at risk, and are lucky enough not kill anyone, it is only fair that you suffer from embarrassment as a consequence.
Considering how little he's been in the media lately, and that his only "talent" is to be in the media, I'd bet he knows exactly what the Streisand effect is.
Unlikely. The fans who are going to go see him perform aren't going to be fazed. Especially since this happened in July 2024. I mean, Chris Brown was convicted of felony assault against Rihanna in 2009, and his very successful 2011 F.A.M.E. tour still toured 37 shows, 32 in the States.
I can name as many Chris Brown songs as I can Justin Timberlake songs. That's not my point. My point is that his fans can, and they'll see him in concert anyway. He was literally in the middle of the U.S. leg of a tour when he was arrested, and still sold out 48 of his remaining 59 performances over the next year, with only 15,351 out of 1,013,877 tickets unsold.
Owning it sets an example for people who have addictions. Many addictions continue due the shame/judgment cycle. Empower people to seek help and the deaths will go down.
Those in the public spotlight have the power to change things. Running, hiding, denying don't.
Screaming as loud as I can: "I DON'T WANT PEOPLE KNOWING I DRIVE DRUNK! DON'T PUBLISJ STUFF ABOUT IT! HIDE THE VIDEO! NOBODY MENTION IT!" dang it. They quoted me on it, with pictures. And interest peaked so videos are in high demand. dang it. Who could have thought.
Doesn't mean the PD will release it. Or they delay so long that a case that would be totally reversed but it's already closed or verdict made. It's "public" when they want it to be

JCentauri
Is this going to ruin the tour?

When will celebrities learn that if they just apologise when they fuck up then stop doing entitled bad things people will still like them?
bluboy80
I feel the best thing to do in those situations is just own it. I respect people who can admit when they fuck up and take responsibility for it
nintendolunchbox
My guess is he said something slurs
bluboy80
Didn't think of that
57rescraft9
He had some other woman in the passenger seat-----that's why he doesen't want it out there.
nintendolunchbox
Hmm. Then I assume his wife already knows now. I assume he used slurs
dailysuicidalthoughts
Oh nooo my last shred of respect for the man is now gone. Doesn't matter if you are an ally, if you are a piece of shit to begin with.
dailysuicidalthoughts
Imagine having millions of dollars, and driving drunk when you could call a limo, or make a taxi/uber drivers night.
LuLuPennyAndOdium44
He could've literally just asked to be driven around and 100s of people would've volunteered.
sunshinehouse98
This is going to ruin the tour

What do you remember if Chris Brown. I can't name two songs , but I do remember Rihannas busted up face.
gablestout

I never would've known until this post popped up.

joshuasplinth
Oh buddy. I hear ya, but bad move Brian.
activeracer28
Fighting it creates a worse image. Owning it, apologizing, then getting help shows you are human and sets a good example.
MsHissyPants
No, it sets a less bad example. Fuck drunk drivers, all the apologies in the world won’t bring back the people they’ve killed.
activeracer28

nintendolunchbox
I'm wondering if he made any slurs. Some are hard to come back from.
Keitterman
Nah, you just don't get to tour with Beyonce anymore, you have to switch to Kid Rock
StNickCage
This kills the fame.
LordBrandonTheBold
But you get "Infamy" in exchange.
4chyn
It’s the most expensive option.
DangerBaer
You get what you pay for.
4chyn
Applies to lawyers too
ChickenNuggetNumber05
is he famous?
nintendolunchbox
He's the guy in the May memes
Canofminus
Cry me a river. (I sang that in the same fake ass falsetto he uses).
nintendolunchbox
Man, that song a bop
insaaanity
This isn't the Streisand effect - if the footage never gets out, it can't start spreading like wildfire.
Artoris
Yeah, but I had mostly forgotten about his DUI until right now.
nintendolunchbox
It's public record. It's coming out.

It was like 10 years ago and NOW he is suing?
nintendolunchbox
A year and a half ago. My guess is he used slurs. Or at the very least. " Dont you know who I am ?! Your other cop just let me go."
IIikethecutofyourjib
Reese Witherspoon. Such shit
nintendolunchbox
At least Reese ended it with. " Well you'll know who I am tomorrow " still shitty , but imo she's resigned the idea she was going to be let go.
albaboss
We’ve been waiting for police body cam footage of so many killings of unarmed civilians. But this is the one they decide to release 🙄
Poopoopeepeevagina
John Oliver just did a great piece on body cams in his show "last week tonight"

Because it humiliates one of them Hollywood types. The police are embarrassingly transparent.
nintendolunchbox
Anyone can ask to see body cam footage of any case.
iamthemurray
Doesn't mean the PD will release it. Or they delay so long that a case that would be totally reversed but it's already closed or verdict made. It's "public" when they want it to be

It will come out. It's the law. Delay, okay. But it's been nearly two years and the case is over.

John Oliver just did a great story on this. Here’s the link

Watch the latest episode of John Oliver. He talks about body cams. There are loopholed.

nintendolunchbox
Embarrassment. I'm sure the lawyers will argue it would hurt his career.
AnotherOneBitesTheCrust
I’d argue that it’s going to ruin the tour
Godawful8888
What tour?
dendiverdown
THE WORLD TOUR!
Shaodyn
Guess he should have thought of that before he did it.
017renegade
You know what hurts his career? - Yes. Driving under the influence! This clown!!
nintendolunchbox
If I recall he got pulled over twice that night. The first cop let him go. That's not a good look for the cop if he was already drunk at the time.
thisistheusernamethatneverendss
Especially drunk enough to get pulled over twice on the same trip
