As a kid, I had a TV in my bedroom (which I now realize was terrible for my sleep hygiene). Since the channel I watched the most during the day was Nickelodeon, I accidentally discovered Nick at Nite one night when I turned the TV on late.
I remember Nick at Nite as being on super late at night. In reality, Nick switched to Nick at Nite at 8:00 PM, which to my kid-mind felt super late. I fell asleep watching it almost every night for years. To this day, black-and-white TV shows, especially the ones that aired on Nick at Nite, take me right back to being a kid.
Nick at Nite started in 1985, with The Donna Reed Show and Dennis the Menace as the main two programs. But the era I watched was from 1995 to around 2000.
I've been revisiting my favorite Nick at Nite shows with my wife recently. She didn't have cable growing up and wasn't allowed to have a TV in her bedroom. So I'm making her watch the Nick at Nite shows and decide if they're actually good or if I just like them because they're nostalgic for me.

I Love Lucy, starring real-life married couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, originally ran on CBS from 1951 to 1957. They made 180 episodes over 6 seasons. It was added to Nick at Nite's lineup in 1994 and remained there until 2001.
I Love Lucy was sponsored by Philip Morris, a cigarette company. When the show originally aired, it's opening sequence featured animated versions of Lucy and Ricky interacting with the Philip Morris logo (this was replaced in reruns with the intro we've all seen a million times, the heart with a satin background).

I lived with my grandparents and mom during my formative years. My grandpa always used to watch MASH, and I hated it. Love it now.

Was the Dick Van Dyke show on then? It was one of my favorite reruns to watch as a kid. That and The Odd Couple. Didn't have cable. but WGN

Also I didn't actually have cable TV, but the local coax cable lines "leaked" so much signal I could just pick them up with an antenna :)

Yes! That was the first TV show I ever saw that had continuity and story arcs. Blew my mind as a kid.
