I passed out when my son was born.

#1 piece of advice I give first-time dads, after learning it the hard way myself: They don’t put up a sheet.

You see the put up a vertical sheet on TV, but there’s no sheet in real life. You’re going to see EVERYTHING, and it is HORRIFYING.

That one dude holding her hands... that's PAIN he is feeling. Bone crushing pain. Bad move.

Lame

Robbie Williams described it as "his favourite pub burning down" but not wanting to "rebuild" her yet since another child might be on the horizon. "Don't want to go about it twice." Trying to mitigate the damage done he closed by complementing his wife. "Sorry Ayda, you have a beautiful foo."

Male here, one of the best euphoric experiences of my life

A GoPro? He's wearing a GoPro on his head?

really huh!

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well, hard to put it on the baby's head...

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I called my doctor in advance and requested a single, one time use, valium. So could have a cool head in the delivery room and not freak out.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude! This reminds me of health class in high school where we had to watch the video of a child-birth, and I’m pretty sure I was close to going into shock, or something. It did trigger a panic attack, or something, my body froze completely, I couldn’t even breath. Child birth is wild.

Homie with the go pro sent me 😂

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We were in the labor room for 20 hours. So I was just exhausted and stoic at that point. My hands were numb from giving backrubs. (Not to diminish the work and suffering my wife went through, but we were talking about men's reactions.)

And some of these men will go on to cheat on their wives because they just can't see them the same after this.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Something I wasn't ready for: watching my wife's doctor go up to her elbow inside my wife to retrieve my son, who was breach and didn't want to come out. This was about 10 minutes after she delivered my daughter relatively easily. Twin births are next level shit. My wife is a rockstar.

The Benny Hill skit where he's being congratulated on a 4 pound baby boy and he say "I got back half my bait!"

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a kid i never really thought how messy childbirth actually is. You see it tons in movies and shows where the woman is in pain but you don't see more ( and the baby always comes out very clean).

As i grew older i learned this but still haven't actually seen it in media until first season of The Pitt, where they showed it full frontal, uncut and in all its messiness.

Horror splatter movies have nothing on actual reality :D

It’s best to not look bc ptsd sucks

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some of the facial expressions say: “Holy shit I owe my woman big time!”

7 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I was one of those boys who about fainted in health class. I have no explanation. Just happened

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There’s a zoom-in on a baby head coming out, in an episode of The Pitt (HBO can do that). Holy shit I was not expecting to see that. Once again, I’m so glad I’ve had a hysterectomy!

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm proud of the ones who look excited to see their children. I'm proud of the ones who are doing their best to keep a poker face. To the ones who fainted: You did your best, buddy, I'm still proud of you for being there.

Mine started screaming *loudly* when only the head was out and the rest of the body still inside (how is that even possible). I knew it was only the start to a lot of trouble...

My daughter had twins on Tuesday. C-Section. My SIL said he looked once and was nauseated.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats! Congrats! (Two times because of the twins) +1

Watched my wife have our son get stuck at the shoulder. Several times. Then watched a c section. These dudes ain’t seen shit.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All this followed by them removing an ovary and fallopian tube. Ovary was growing hair and a tooth.

The first guy isnt improving an already stressful situation.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 10

How? Seems like the kind of energy you'd wanna see

7 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Loud startling noises rarely improve medical situations.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Because that's not something they would appreciate, or they don't have that kind of relationship with their partner, or they had a bad experience, and so they assume/insist everyone must have the same perspective.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That might depend on how long the labor has been going and the general tone of the experience. If she’s been at it 15min, and then BAM, you both now have a child, excellent. Go for it. If she’s been in labor for 48 hours, she might kill you.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I dunno, sounds like a great way to celebrate the end of a 48 hour labor.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He seems quite excited at the successful birth of their child, seems like the whole room is smiling (including the mother at the end) so the stressful part is most likely over

7 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Is it bad that I wouldn't want to be in the delivery room? For the record I've never been in a relationship so maybe love would overcome my squeamishness

7 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Here in Italy the hospital personel will tell you that they already has an important job to do, so you'll enter only if you're sure to not faint, as they'll ignore you (I doubt this is true, but the concept is clear).
I am the last person willing to see blood and body fluids and whatever else is not supposed to be exposed out of our skin bag, but I have to say that i never regretted for being there for both of my sons birth.

Love is to know yourself enough to take the best decision for her.

There are other countries where they make it clear that if you were there upon ingress, you should also be there on egress. It's your fault after all, so suck it up.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I 100% wouldn't want to be there either. But I'm a woman, so I got my tubes tied.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why are people recording this? Is this something they are going to have their friends and family watch later?

7 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 17

I was wondering the same thing. Makes me think of people who record other deeply intimate moments of their life like proposals, so they can post in social media for attention.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

A lot of people do...yes.

7 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

After a dinner party, to guests: "Here's the part where her gooch tears and she shits herself! Isn't it a miracle??"

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

And he collapses like a fucking noodle

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eww. I don't want to see an angry one. Then again, wife and I are in our 40's with no kids and no desire to have one.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

That’s fine, but you both should kindly recognize that your preferences aren’t those of the majority, and in fact you’re invisible now and forever; bye.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Nice suggestion. Bye to you too for not having a sense of humor.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah, if you aren't used to seeing shit and blood and viscera coming out of your loved one, or just generally it can be a bit of a shock, especially with the failings of education around the process.

7 months ago | Likes 165 Dislikes 1

Lack of education on this topic is a choice. There are lots of organizations that give free birthing classes.

I was right there when my daughter was born and I have to say, it was amazing. I didn’t care that my ex (then my wife) dropped a dookie in the labor room and started speaking in tongues, I was just so proud and excited to be in that room as my only child was born.

My girlfriend is having a c-section this Friday, I’ve seen two births already but this will be a whole ‘nother level

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've observed surgeries before, including an amputation. But this would be definitely different. I'd be crying my eyes out.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't expect the vag to almost fliip inside out.

It does?? No way

Every labor is different and there are different reasons for different smells

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did not notice any particular smell. More a sensation of emanating heat.

Our second was like this, except instead of a sneeze, my wife was laughing at a joke the Doc told while getting their gear on. Doc got serious all of a sudden and was all, "You need to stop laughing, now. No, seriously, stop laughing, he's coming out."

Could be worse, like the scene from Welcome to Derry.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The birth itself is a bit weird, but not as unsettling as some of those faces indicate. Although I went in having watched some movies before. The afterbirth, on the other hand, is super gross.

7 months ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Yeah I have this image of a doctor, arm deep up in there getting everything else out, while she was just chatting up a storm about how good my wife did and how we should have 10 babies...

my malamute thought it was great.

I mean, most people get upset to see a loved one with a minor injury, like a small cut. Seeing the carnage of blood, guts, piss, shit, and other viscera, all at once, can be a lot.

7 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It's just another friday night for some... /s

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah. The nurses thought I was going to faint when the doctor pulled out forceps. Like, no, I'm not faint, but it's difficult to watch your new baby being yanked violently around and out with giant salad tongs clamped on their head.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I thought they gave up using those things long ago. I still have marks on my head...

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My kid is 10 now. So it wasn't a terribly long time ago

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They told me to sit for the c section, they didn't need another patient in the room. I did get to see the final extraction though.

7 months ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 2

The birthing class me and my wife went to suggested that the fathers shouldn't see the C section for that exact reason.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You mean the baby?

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I still have those vivid memories of my wife’s c-sections. Both of them were literally life saving. 😊 thankful it was an option.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They just put a little hanging drape things and had me sit next to my wife's head so I could talk to/comfort her. Then they were like "Wwhhhhoooop! Tada!" like a magician and lifted my daughter up so we could see her over the drape partition thing.

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Same, except they did give me a heads up when they were taking the baby out so i could see that part. Past the point of cutting through the layers of everything by that point, so it wasn't too bad.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A woman is like a cake, so many layers.
