Was this a two-stage blast ? The initial crash in video one doesn't seem a destructive as the big explosion shown elsewhere.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

First explosion is from the truck carring solvents, then the flame heat the big tank with lpg that explode in the big fire

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Thanks OP, that explains it. Good post.

Huh guess LPG does melt steel beams of the bridge

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 5

Heresy! Fire can not melt steel beams of bridges! Everyone knows this, it has to be the work of some secret gov't agency /s

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude in #3 is all like v

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Now you see, you see! Giving those darn LPG-people a right to marry makes roads explode!

These fucking jokes about people burning to death...

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

Dude you need to cool off... kinda like some people in these gifs.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 6

Or, you know, showing some respect for the first few days instead of resorting to cheap humor. Thats always nice too

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

If I had to die in a fiery explosion, people damn well BETTER make cheap jokes about it. Don't let that spectacular opportunity go to waste.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

One of the first times a post like this has not left me wanting more info or viewpoints. Good on you!

8 years ago | Likes 264 Dislikes 2

You shouldn't... it is a old repost... entirely...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have to ask, why the f*ck are people standing around watching?? Are they devoid of Instincts??

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How many people died? Did the truck drivers get away?

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Killed 1, injured 70. (Came here to ask the same, info from link in other comment)

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

So far, only 1 death--the lpg truck driver. There are people with severe burns who might die as well.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Thorough documentation, @op Good work.

8 years ago | Likes 1411 Dislikes 2

Didn’t mention the people, more importantly.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

pretty disturbring to know how all that paint solvent are stored so unsafe it can basically blaze up like this.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

and all the worts luck just made a LPG truck being the one hitting and seeting it aflame.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Truck drivers of imgur, did the tank truck did try to slow down? Look like he was full force to car in front.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Apparently the driver (rip) either had a stroke or fell asleep

Serious props to your Police, Fire, and EMS services over there. Outstanding job.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is terrible, but I still think it's cool that we live in such a technologically advanced age that you can see it from so many~~

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

~~different angles and shit.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That explosion is called a BLEVE. Boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion. Some of the worst firefighting deaths are caused by those.

8 years ago | Likes 775 Dislikes 1

There's a worse fire type: electrical car fire

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

BLEVE. Blast Leveling Everything Very Effectively.

8 years ago | Likes 184 Dislikes 2

Thanks kids next door

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I forgot that was a thing

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Probably because it is just about the next level down from a fuel-air explosion.

8 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 2

I mean, it is one, really.

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Best BLEVE it's nasty stuff

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Is that like throwing water on a oil fire? The explosion reminded me of that, albeit on a ginormous scale.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

unBLEVEable!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

DO YOU BLEVE IN LIFE AFTER LOVE after love ᵃᶠᵗᵉʳ ᶫᵒᵛᵉ

Godfuckingdammitfuckingfuck i hate you for putting that fucking song in my fucking head and I'm going to fucking end your fucking face!!!!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can feel some thing in side me say, I really don't think tanks strong enough.ohh

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Often accompanied by a sound like a screaming jet engine or train locomotive from the pressure, warning you to get the fuck out

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Basically burns your lungs like rice paper.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I doubt it was a BLEVE as there needs to be sustained heat to boil the liquid. There was no time to heat that amount of LPG so most likely

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Good point. But never pass up a chance to use a cool acronym.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The tank ruptured and a spark ignited the resultant vapour escaping which then ignored the remaining LPG. BLEVE 's are bad news though.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I respectfully disagree. A truck load of burning solvents is likely more than enough BTU production. The vapor production was delayed.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This absolutely was a BLEVE. Notice the gray cloud of lpg that ignites? That's a telltale sign of a BLEVE.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

TIL I get more world news from Imgur than a legit news site

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That one guy who was eaten by the flames... Holy shit :(

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Luckily for him, he died immediately in the crash. After causing it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 17

Another comment says he's burned but alive.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

shit i hope he makes it!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That must have been loud as fuck.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

My cousin was literally there, just 5/6 cars ahead. Scared the hell out of him.

If you are driving the flammable gas truck, check your brakes before getting out on the road

8 years ago | Likes 295 Dislikes 15

I would say it’s high time we find safer ways to transport dangerous chemicals to prevent an accident from being a horrible catastrophe

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I’d say hire drivers that pay attention. There was no attempt to turn or any evasive movements. Driver fucked uk.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

He may have been unconscious.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or he could have been playing angry birds. The vehicle never moved at all. If he’s went unconscious the vehicle path would have changed.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why would it change? That's not how physics works.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wasn't the flammable cargo truck crashed into from rear by the tank truck?

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I think brake failure is far less probable than a distracted driver. In the first video I can't see any reaction whatsoever.

8 years ago | Likes 266 Dislikes 0

If that was a full truck, brakes may have lost effectiveness due to overheating. Or swerve into another lane, or wherever there’s room.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Brake systems in trucks are not the same as in cars. There are separate supply lines for different wheels, air accumulators, low air >

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

warning, parking brakes (spring). Brake failure to is highly unlikely to be the culprit. Stroke maybe we will never know.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yes, and if the brake lines fail, the brakes are applied. The opposite of what would happen in a car.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

vacuum brakes right? if theres a vacuum brakes are off if there isn't they are on hard

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Police think about a stroke

8 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 1

Based on what..?? Dude was prolly texting or smth. I see people looking down their phone while driving all the time and then having to 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 18

quickly to all kinds of maneuvers because they're crossing white lines, etc.. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 9

Unfortunately you're probably right. Really pisses me off when I see people take their eyes off the road to use their phone. Can't you wait?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

What annoys me more than mobile users, is the incessant advertising that accompanies roads. We're supposed to be driving, not reading

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I think about a mobile phone.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

If you are driving the flammable bridge, check your stroke before getting in a bridge.

8 years ago | Likes 155 Dislikes 2

v

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Yes. If your stroke fails, then get it replaced.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

reading this, I think I might have had a stroke

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's why collision avoidance systems are mandatory in every new truck sold in the EU. And they should be retrofitted on older trucks ->

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Delivering dangerous goods... Not everything the EU does is bad...

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

There's a large number of legalisation that the EU actually gets right.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Was this directed by Michael Bay?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

So how many deaths?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Only one at now, 14 heavy injured, police man who arrived to stop the traffic and help people

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Wait, the driver of the truck didn't die?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, only the drive of the lpg truck, but 4 of the 14 are serious burn injuries

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah, okay, weren't sure if you were saying that the police officer that arrived was the death or not. Had to run to a meeting so didn't read.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope they have insurance

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Driver won’t ever take his eyes off the road again. So much destruction.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Probably a coroner who will have to take the driver's eyes off the road.

What's LPG? Put away your phone while driving

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Liquid propane gas

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a hydrocarbon gas that exists in a liquefied form. Examples of such are Butane and Propane; both are LPG

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Liquid propane gas

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

The dude driving the mixer definitely burned up

There is no mixer. That is a Liquid Petroleum Gas pressure tank.

+1 for eviscerated. RIP for the deaths.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

You mean evaporated? Cause definitely not eviscerated. Or immolated?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure the guy approaching in #2 died as well. Or is atleast extra crispy

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Crispy? So he got a tan?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Extra Cwispy

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In the bottom left of the explosion I see a face. At least that dude would be able to say “I got this tan from an explosion”

Whatever company that owned that tanker is about to go bankrupt with that much damage

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

You got to be not okay to go near that thing in the first place.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The only thing that bugs me about this community is the lack of empathy found on posts like this. This man died. They won't know why he -

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Crashed, probably ever. And us fucking losers are over here on the internet saying "good" and making death jokes. Fuck us.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Over 170,000 people die per day (of all causes, of all ages). Even though it's insensitive to dismiss or make fun of someone's death, some

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

have learned to be content with the fact that well, people die. And the fact that even when considering everyone between you and your

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

friends' friends' friends very likely make up less than 0.0001% of the world population (people you'd give at least a shred of a shit about)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

you understand that a vast majority of deaths don't really affect you in any meaningful way, so it's easy to trivialize it to nothingness.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Any causalities?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One death and 14 seriously injured

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Thought it was 2 dead and 60+ injured?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

it was 2 dead but this was revised as 1. I've not heard '60' anywhere though, only 14.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yea, but it's up to at least 70 people injured, only 14 seriously.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
