Shout out to teachers everywhere

To be fair, the cameraman wasn’t shooting Matt from his good side. Maybe he is shitty.

That makes me like Mat Damon so much more. Good on him for having such a great response off the cuff like that

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Never get tired of this end. Maybe you are a shitty camera man. The right wing and their never ending whataboutism of subjectivity to excuse being fucking dunces with logic and observation.

No! No! Because I wasn't with a hooker today!

The caption/title-er person missed a golden opportunity to name them "Mom Damon & Matt Damon"

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was this right after "Eurotrip" was filmed?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Matt knows how to debate. He was taught well.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Camera man let another camera into frame, spoke out of turn, and let the camera drift while his focused subject was speaking. Camera man has provided evidence that he is in fact bad at this job. Good call Matt!

That's not an unusual skill for an actor, btw. A supermodel can smell a poor photographer or a poor lighting person from a mile away. The perfect moody pout won't be captured if it's not shot right and lit right. It makes perfect sense for someone in his line of work to recognize someone who's recording him badly.

They brought some really bad Qs to an IQ fight.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sure, I get 10 weeks a year time-off, but it's unpaid. It's also pretty close to the exact amount of time I need to recover after working 80 hours a week for the other 42 weeks.
It's the best job in the world, but it ain't easy.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stRtOHjh6lY less relevant, but Matt Damon on Graham.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Scaring" people to be better. DOES NOT WORK ! It does not work with job insecurity, it does not work with death penalty. Look in history ! IT DOES NOT EVEN WORK WITH HELL !

Popes and bishops were absolute hellspawns, although they knew, in their world this was a reality, that they would go to hell for their murders, adultery, lying and treachery, yet they still did it.

Incentives must be positve. Such a simple lesson, 2000 years of examples.

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Some people seem to be born to be shitty. That cameraman, for instance.

1 week ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 2

As a professional camera operator, you don't jump into an interview like that. That's not your job.

Unless you're a shitty camera operator.

1 week ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES

1 week ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

love the way mom immediately calls out the cameraman's bullshit. "where'd you get that number?" "I don't know, 10% of people in any profession..." jfc the complete mental disconnect from reality and reason some people have.

1 week ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I suddenly like Matt Damon a lot more now.

1 week ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

He wrote one of the best movies ever made to get his start as an actor, and has since used his fame to bully absolutely everyone with money relentlessly to give it away to food and water insecure populations. Yeah he's cool I think

1 week ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Yeah. He (and Ben Affleck) are inherently good. Using fame to push other A-Listers (including Clooney) to think more about their station and ability to make a statement about the world around them.

The movies they make aren't always bangers, but I'll support them in most anything they're involved with.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Coming from the same mentality as the Dad who told my (French teacher) mum... "it must be nice to get those additional paid holidays". This is after she, and two other teachers, had spent a week in France making sure "Joshua" and 30 of his class mates didn't get arrested for being little shits.

Matt Demon, is the kind a guy, I would love to play boardgames with.

Not a lot of Pixels but I am 90% sure that microphone says 'Reason' on it...

That is why she is asking fucking stupid questions.

1 week ago | Likes 161 Dislikes 4

OK, just saw the 'Reason.tv' watermark, yeah, it is Reason.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The "T" is silent. (Young Ones reference there)

It's a very old clip, still a banger though

For those who don't know, Reason is a far right / libertarian derp website.

She's a Right Winger Grifter

It's what they do

1 week ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

Go to reason.com and just read the headlines.... it is a libertarian rag that believes corporations are our gods and govt is always bad, esp when they are feeding the poor.

Every once in awhile they actually latch onto an actual nugget of govt overreach, but most of the time they are just mad a child hasn't starved to death.

I'm an MBA myself (officially as of 1038am yesterday) but his point about MBA-style thinking is on point even now 15+ years later - anybody who thinks statistics, marketing, finance, and economics can solve every business problem, every employment decision has simply forgotten that humanity is the first and most important factor.

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Congrats on becoming a graduated cylinder!

People forget what economics is... it is not the study of the flow of capital, but the study of how individuals, businesses, charities, governments, trusts, BDSM clubs and Sesame Street allocate scarce resources.

I will note tho, if you have a PE Ratio of infinity, your company is actually worthless.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This wasn't a science degree - we graduate as spreadsheets not graduated cylinders.

And if we're talking more modern econ then yeah that's true enough.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Cameraman - "Ten percent of teachers are bad." That's a pretty specific statistic! It sounds like there’s a story behind this. Did you just watch a terribly filmed movie, or are you dealing with some frustrating footage yourself?

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Man, that Flip Pocket Camera really dates this, lol. Haven't seen one of those in 15 years.

1 week ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

And young Matt Damon didn't date this, lol (yes I agree it's wild seeing that old tech)

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Oh yeah

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm still a little amazed at the smart people at Flip Pocket Camera who at the top of their sales, were like. "Yeah, um, we see the writing on the wall and know we're about to go extinct so mic drop, we're done. If you want one of our cameras, buy one fast b/c we ain't making any more."

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Back in the height of the Flip Camera days I actually had a Creative Vado HD instead, because it was more compact and had a little bit better quality. Still have it too! but the (Replaceable!) battery is long since died.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nigh on fiteen year or so, I reckon!

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How can you tell that's what it is?

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because you can see it being held up in the shot?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And because I used to have one. Got it for free. It worked great until it died one day for no clear reason.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not the one filming this video, it's the little black iPod thing with the red button thats held up halfway through

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh! Lol I am blind I guess

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Job insecurity doesn't make people work better, it just makes people stressed which makes their work suffer. It also drives workers, particularly the capable ones, away into fields that offer more security.

1 week ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Like that Jack Welch CEO fuck at GE. "Derrr, every year we fire the bottom performing 10%, dat'll make everyone work more gooder!" Yeah no, just made everyone into hyper-competitive backstabbing psychopaths. Cause you didn't need to be good, you just needed to make everyone else worse. Like running from a bear, just be faster than your friend

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. It's such a weird thing that people claiming to be capitalists believes existential threats increases performance.
Nah man, threats brings stress which fucks everything up. Comfortable while motivated on the other hand... But that involves bringing "happiness" into the equation...

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Side note, I absolutely love that "a motivated worker is a productive worker" is actually true, while usually used for the opposite situation.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Seriously wanting to keep your job because you love it and couldn't imagine doing much of anything else (Realistically) is a MUCH greater motivator. Honestly I'm in management, I treat my staff with respect and dignity and give them room to breathe and grow and make mistakes without fear of harsh reprisal. Recently took on a staff that was a nervous wreck, ready to light the building on fire and walk out the door. A year of me not antagonizing her and she's dedicated and passionate again. (1/2)

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm not even saying I'm great, just that I should be the expected baseline, not some sort of outlier or weirdo. (2/2)

You know I'm sure he finds it funny and its all in good fun, but I do wonder why they picked Matt Damon of all people to lampoon like that. By all accounts hes pretty intelligent and super nice. Case in point, this video

I have read that he was heavily involved in him being portrayed this way in the movie.

Irl they didn't set out to make him derpy, but they couldn't get the marionette to not look derpy so he told them to own it.

He kinda is a shitty camera man.

Look at the way its swaying all over the god damn place and he isn't letting the interviewer do the interview.

But does Scotty know?!

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Got a friend named Scotty who graduated high school the year that movie came out. He went through college and law school hearing it. He's hosting a housewarming/pool party/ whatever we're supposed to call it as actual adults in a few weeks. I'm gonna shave my head and sing that shit.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

My friend was going to sing it during our friend scottys wake. He did not realize what it was about. Scotty shot himself in the head in front of his girlfriend so I'm glad my friend ran the idea by me before doing it

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oof. Glad he ran it by you, and I'm sorry your buddy is gone.

I see them as housemate. Constantly rebellious against a system they completely rely on.

House cats. I’ve seen that one. Also accurate. I just happen to love cats, so I don’t use that one.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Wow. So well said.

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Perfect description!

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I considered myself libertarian for a bit, but I eventually realized that it's an ideology that both doesn't scale and assumes that everyone is starting on level ground. When you realize those two things, you either have to look for a new ideology or start lying to yourself. Meaning all libertarians are either naive, willfully ignorant, or have ulterior motives.

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

In my experience, it’s normally a combination of all three.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah that about sums it up. Most "libertarians" are just Republicans who want to smoke weed, not pay taxes, and be allowed to be openly racist.

1 week ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

There was a time when that wasn’t the case. Then the party got co-opted by a bunch of MAGA neckbeards. The idea of “fuck off, federal government” is really easy to get behind while completely missing the nuance. Now every one of them is just a “don’t tread on me” bro with pseudo-intellectual flair.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Nah, right-wing libertarians were like that at least 20 years ago. Well before MAGA.

1 week ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I don't know when that time you are describing was, but I am over 60 and all the Libertarians I've ever met fit this description to a T... and if you read the novels of Robert Heinlein, the original "Capital L Libertarian" and theorist famous "deep thinker", it was that way well before I was born.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The party was formed in 1971 under wildly different principles. People like Tonie Nathan were Democrats until they switched.
