Yup. I run a few programs every morning. I use the same command every day. I'll come back on Monday and have to find the piece of paper with the command written on it because I can never remember the proper format.

Don’t think. Do what they say. None of the forms match. Just go along with it.

I've been practicing being rich for years now and I still can't pick up the habit.

Yes! I always tell people take long vacation, around or after the 5th day you might actually forget about work and the healing begins 🩷🫠

Well where I work you get use-or-lose and people have a hard time scheduling actual time off..

I'm actually super happy about this. I have noticed that I also forget very fast my corporate job, but I don't see as a bad thing at all.

I’ve had a bunch alcoholics at my workplace. They practically do a "reset" every Friday till Sunday. They aren't fit for duty again until Tuesday at the earliest. Wochenendalkoholiker means weekend alcoholic.

Cause I’m breaking the habit

I don't know what's worth fighting for, or why I have to scream

I wanna say... spreadsheets?

I'll get things done. At some point. I know that there's a paperclip directly underneath my dresser just out of sight. I won't get it, but if someone needs one I know where it is.

Oh that's not me. I definitely forgot 90% offhand knowledge though. But it took 2 days to be better

I work in cleaning. Floors, bathrooms, windows. If i start at the opposite end of the building from where I am accustomed to starting, I miss stuff, it takes me longer and I'm constantly back and forth between the supply room and other areas because I realized I missed something.

2/2 cart full of tapes, changing tapes out all night long (graveyard shift). If I didn't start at a specific place every night for some reason (other emergencies / problems could throw me off or delay my start times / position) it would totally screw up my flow and I would have to make repeated back and forth runs to different systems. And if restores were needed? Oh boy. You'd have to pause the backup job timed right at a swap to be able to sneak a different tape in for data restore.

heh back in the dark ages I was the backup admin at a datacenter. Before we got the single huge tape silo, it meant every system that needed backups had their OWN dedicated tape drive attached. Oh and did they all use the same kind of tapes? NOPE, the tapes were different brands/sizes/capacity and were labeled for EACH server. Also, was ONE tape good enough? ALSO NOPE, some took 3 or 4 tapes per night and had to be swapped out. I had a cart I wheeled around the whole place 1/2

Patterns form habits. Time helps, but breaking the pattern hurts.

I change my routine every day, which kinda sounds like an oxymoron
"No you're an oxy moron"

"Hahaha, no, I'm just a moron. And addicted to Oxys." *nods off while standing*

try that with audhd .... even something I have done countless times over years immediately gets interrupted and puts my brain into a complete blank state by the most minor of things.
Doing groceries, taking the same route as always, someone is blocking my way? Oops, start from the beginning. I got there when the nearby school is on break and there's a long line? Well, guess I have to wait in a corner staring at my phone.

Trying to start a new routine of practice, like for an instrument or >

I'm ridiculously ADHD. I've chosen to pretend my job doesn't exist the moment I step off site

studying or exercising, with a fixed schedule 2-3 times per week? 2 years later and it's still not a routine. It still takes the same amount of extraordinary effort to start and keep going every single time; be unable to do it for one month and any progress of months before is likely gone.

But: Prevent me from watching Netflix while eating or limit my time for doing so, somehow a very deeply ingrained routine, and you send me into a stress spiral for the rest of the day (and the next 2).

I'm 35 years old and I still have to remind myself to brush my teeth, and I have to run through the checklist when I do

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yep. Even with just 4 tasks on my todolist on a day, brushing my teeth being the 4th and last one, it still throws me into spirals where I lose time and procrastinate or forget what I wanted/needed to do. audhd is strange bitch...can honestly be completely disabling, but try getting it recognised as such.

And we have to do it EVERY day? More than once? It's exhausting.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yeah....i've started to try and trick it by using mouthwash/floss randomly through the day. when I visit the bathroom or next to the pc.
Problem is: I wouldn't want to bet money on myself to not just forget doing that for a month either.
Like, whether or not I will do it for a given time is more random than static from a tv.
