Even if you don’t give a hoof about horse racing, the festival features partying, a steamboat race, a huge hot air balloon race, and satirical events like the Run For The Rose’ (food servers race with a full wine glass). There’s a funky and mellow mood unique to this city and time of year.

Always walked down to my grandparents' house for the Derby, the Preakness, and the Stakes to watch with them on their TV when I was a kid. I was in Louisville a couple times last year and at one point drove past the track. Floods of good memories of hanging on on race day with them. Took a pic.

I’ve always wondered where the term Preakness comes from. “Preakness, adj. — The extent to which something is preak.” 🤷

Well, that is an inevitable consequence of horses.

Scary how precise that is. The Tattoo Shop also contains the office of the Louisville Federation of Musicians. You’ll see ensembles performing on the grounds in the spring.

I don't need horse racing to have a good time in Kentucky (I'm a bourbon loving alcoholic)

Yeah, we see you and others of that description here all the time. And hear them. And smell then.

Though to be fair, I think I kept it to just a couple namesake cocktails and a Blantons at the Seelbach hotel before heading over to the Leonard Cohen concert at the Palace in early April 2013

Good balanced approach. We welcome you.
