After 17 years I had to put my little buddy down. He’s been with me longer than my own family. I made him a big ribeye and watched him scarf it down with a last tail wag and a lick on my cheek. I know he’s in a better place but damn this is hard to deal with.

Took him only about 5 minutes to clean his plate.

Good boy.

You gave him 17 years in a loving home, till the very end. He couldn't have asked for anything more. Take comfort in that.

Hang in there buddy. I had to put my doggy down recently after 15 years of pup ❤️. She visits in my dreams and makes my days a lot happier.

My bell had vanilla ice cream with peanut butter sauce, she couldn’t finish it so I helped her...I can’t eat ice cream now..

We did something similar for my dog with Cushing disease who also had megaespogus. Made him feel like a king. Much love and compassion. ??

Sounds like he lived an amazing life, and definitely enjoyed his last meal! Rest in peace. Feel free to message if you need to talk!

Wish my dog could eat, and give me a kiss before I had to say goodbye to her. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Animals have these advantages over man: they never hear the clock strike, they die without any idea of death,

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

they have no theologians to instruct them, their last moments are not disturbed by unwelcome and unpleasant ceremonies,

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

their funerals cost them nothing, and no one starts lawsuits over their wills.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You poor person. Your pain will not last like you think right now, I promise. So sorry, he will always be the goodest doggo

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He'll always be a good boy.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You did the right thing. Get a pupper quick, your buddy would want you to be happy. X

8 years ago | Likes 348 Dislikes 11

My daughter did same for their dog

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait until you’re ready. Or if you’re never ready, that’s okay too. You can’t just replace your dog.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

About a month after my birb I'd had for 13 years passed, my rescue pup came along. It'll happen when it's right. She helped heal my heart.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Its best to wait a little while

To each their own

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A dog pro told me the same thing. He said it was to avoid comparing dog the 2nd to dog the 1st. Each one has their own identity.

After our first Golden Retiever passed away my mother always felt she would betray our dog by getting a new puppy, even after 2 years. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 0

This January it's been ten years my cat died in my arms and my mom still doesn't want a new one

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Don’t forget to add that she could rescue one and potentially save it’s life.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

That was about 25 years ago. Shelters weren't as many back then around here, and I too young to take them into consideration :(

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I convinced her our dog would be sad if we wouldn't share our love with another pup... and so I got her to feel good about our new pupper :)

8 years ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 0

That’s a good way to deal with it

I'm not crying, you're crying.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Welp I didn't want to cry today but thanks

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I love this. I took in a stray when I was no longer living in my elderly home. There's so much love in those, others have given up hope on

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Good god, there's nothing that makes me cry faster than dog stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Oh goodness. I'm sure that's exactly what they'd want if they could tell us. Thank you.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think so, too. My good girl is 13, I'll get her a little rescued friend soon, because she is very motherly and caring so her love lives on

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She's not camera-shy <3
