I remember hearing once when I was younger that the reason why female mantises bite the heads off the males during mating is that the sudden rush of adrenaline was the only way they could ejaculate. I've never confirmed it as every time I've asked, I got no response from them.

She could and they very often do kill the males after mating lol. Stuff(concensually of course) and run buddy!!!

It's not true. They don't always attack and the males sometimes get away when they do and mating can still be successful in either case.
