We were there just last Sunday. The fires were still burning up in the hills, but the road was clear all the way to Big Sur, which was where we turned around and went back to Monterey for the rest of the day. Hadn't been to Monterey since we lived there in 1990. Couldn't / didn't recognize the town anymore. That's kinda sad, but inevitable I guess...

It's such a great drive, did it years ago while on a 2 week trip to CA with my ex. Drove it from San Diego to San Fran. Stop at various points and want to go back with current partner who would be way more fun than the ex on this trip. Nice views!

San Francisco to Santa Barbara used to be my commute. What’s that boss? Get paid for a six hour drive through paradise? Twist my arm!

Oof, suppose it's only bad if someone gets into an accident on a bridge. My longest was a 4 hour drive to Maine to plug in a router.
