Spent the last 10 years working on the road. My new place. I don’t have much. Inflatable mattress and folding chair with cooler as a night stand, but it’s all mine.

Hell ye man, Thanksgiving 2018 I moved out to live alone. You get furniture slowly but it'll always be home to you.

Todd Packer! My man!! Nice crib!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which road?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The four corners area and Texas for almost 11 years. New place in Fernley, NV

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Awesome. Been there, and it’s so great to be on your own two feet. You’ll get stuff. But you have you, and that’s better than stuff.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This! Best feeling in the world.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well done @op. There is something to be said about having your own space. I wish you all the best ?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used to own my own house, now I’m unemployed and staying at a friends house, so I totally understand.

Wayfair has some reasonably priced cabinets, shower curtains and throw pillows

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Cabinets from wayfair ? Aren’t they like $12,000 and come with an underage sex trafficked child?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I mean I imagine you can use it for maid service instead

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congrats!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sometimes, my friend, that is all you need to find happiness. Congratulations!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In all seriousness good for you. I hope it feels like home. My advice outfitting the kitchen- estate sales new stuff cheap & not haunted...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My brother gave me a bunch of cast iron skillets and a Dutch oven. I’m good with cooking

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ha ha. New place. Have to drink cheap.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My Dad always told me "4 walls and a roof, we're doing ok".

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Yard/ garage sale are the best! You can haggle as much as you need

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Estate sales are great also

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And Craigslist And Facebook market place

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've gotten so much good stuff from Facebook for free it's insane

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don’t do FB. This is my only social media outlet

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Amazing! Keep it up!

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Been there. But remember it's easy to become complacent about self care and your space when you haven't had one of your own for a long time

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Be sure to take steps towards improving your space and making it a place that's special to you, make it a home. Congrats and best of luck!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I will. I have a kitchen I can cook in. I won’t take it for granted. Thank you

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Still making progress? Hope all is going well!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 41

You missed an /s there or something pal?

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

fuck you , you are a piece of shit

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 34

Hey Bhageera how about fuck you? It's clearly you who are a piece of shit. It's an encouraging comment and anyway I read it as shit=stuff.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Okay... Weirdo. If your first reaction after reading my comment was "He is calling OPs place shit" then maybe you got some opinions.

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Start simple. Use OfferUp and become a hoarder like the rest of us.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Is that the new Craigslist?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better by far

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ve never checked offer up. I will. Thank you.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't forget craigslist and FB market place

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Statistics indicate the dirtier the cooler, the fresher the drinks it holds.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s been on the road for 5 years. I just moved in yesterday. I’ll clean it. Thank you.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You will thank yourself ?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Who cares, the carpet appears nice and vacuumed. Congrats on your new home.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Used furniture stores. Target has 6' plastic tables (folding legs) that are strong for $42. Folding chairs at Walmart for $10. Art at>

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Some days I miss my folding table desk. Could pile SO MUCH stuff on it and nothing ever damaged it.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

One of the big benefits of buying used/ cheap shit. Hardly worry about damage at all. It already got its life use, everything else is bonus.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

places like Savers, Goodwill, etc short money to dress it up a little. Gets you started and feeling a little more comfortable.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Don't forget about Habitat for Humanity. They have what they call "ReStores" where they sell donated items.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Clean place to sleep, roof over your head and a fan.... Winning.

6 years ago | Likes 274 Dislikes 1

Your own clean shitter is probably a highlight

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

The fan is my favorite. Been living in motels. I forgot how wonderful a fan blowing while you sleep is.

6 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

Uh. phrasing?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Archer??

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Congratulations OP! Become a dumpster diver like us. People throw out perfectly good stuff every day. Happy for you

6 years ago | Likes 366 Dislikes 1

Ya. Here everybody moves out on July 1st. The things I've found. Technics 12, Canton Speakers, iPhone 3g box with 150 ecstasy pills in it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you want bedbugs? Because that’s how you get bedbugs.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Haha, I found a brand new Keurig Elite at goodwill the other day, still had the tags on it and everything. $200 coffee maker for $10 XD

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Don’t know how you Americans drink Keurig. It’s like sex in a canoe.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was gonna be a shit and say "Us?" But I totally salvage furniture.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I won’t lie I got ALOT of my furniture in my first place from charity shops and FB marketplace.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How do you know? My friend is throwing all her stuff cause she's got a mouldy apartment that makes her sick. How u know it's not unhealthy?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Go by University's during move out day. Soooooo much amazing crap in the trash. At least, there used to be...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Especially dumpsters behind thrift stores. Growing up if there was stuff the store wouldn’t take my mom would pitch it in their trash

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

90% of everything i own is dumpster dived or charity/op/thrift shopped

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd be careful cause well...bedbugs

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

If it isn't upholstered then you really don't have to worry about bed bugs.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yea I was gonna say it’s almost not even worth that risk. Those SUCK and are expensive to properly get rid of.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got a whole goddamn baby this way.

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

Prom night dumpster baby?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I got a lot of furniture at my apt complex that way. In the process of moving now; saw someone reclaim a table I put out by the dumpsters.

6 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 1

Yes... That how you get a mold and lice infected house lol. Purple throw shit cause it's nasty sometimes.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Ahhhh..the circle of apt life continues

6 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

When I moved home from college, I put a lot good stuff next to the dumpster. I figured someone would eventually grab it.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I've found 3 bikes around my complex since I moved in a few months ago. Fixed a few parts and sold them on FB.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Me too! It's amazing how people just leave them in front of stores and houses.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nice, but mine were next to the dumpsters.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The out pouring of support is why this is the only social media app I use. I’ll get stuff in time. Spent everything getting my new place. TY

6 years ago | Likes 2097 Dislikes 4

Post a selfie and see how supportive this community is

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Why, because we don’t care what you look like?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started out the same way. All my stuff us used or I found on the side of the road. It makes you appreciate things

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Craigslist FREE section is a goldmine for surprisingly decent stuff

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same here.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

go by the rich area of town before pick up day, you can find nice practically new furniture, just avoid cushioned/fabric stuff incase of>

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

>bed bugs. But tables, dining chairs, dressers etc are good! Lot of times rich folk just throw it out because they want a new furniture set.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since people have been asking I created a amazon wish list. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/QFASITB1DP46?ref_=wl_share.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

White folding table is like 40 bucks at Walmart and it makes a terrific computer desk, that's what I use. You could also check goodwill

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just put everything into buying a house, I have zero furniture. Going to buy it all on craigslist and FB. Except mattresses never buy used.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hell yeah keep on.... truckin? Good for you dude!!

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Hey dude, this is going to be me soon, for very different reasons. Unintended furniture is the best furniture.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember when I first moved out my parents house. I loved like this. You should check out the free section on Craigslist.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been in the exact same place mate. Mortgages and bills come first, when you've got them in check add the little luxuries to your life.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Just....just get some bleach for your cooler-stand. For your health, pls.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Walmart got cots for 70 if you get tired of blowin that up

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you on Facebook? Look if your area has a “Buy Nothing” group. Also check out Craigslist free stuff category!

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No. This is the only social media I have

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You are an inspiration! Dumpster and curb side collection is often easy pickin's for good quality things. Keep celebrating the wins!

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Just hit up Craigslist or FB market place

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stuff can come later. Having a place to call your own is what matters. :)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Easier to root for a stranger going through rough times than your racists high school classmates

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

We love you!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Appreciate the sentiment. Thank you.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keep an eye on Facebook free stuff.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nextdoor is way better for local and free PS: Facebook sucks.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is the only social media I’m on

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You want me to get you a microwave? Do you have cleaning supplies?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s awesome for you to offer. I have a microwave (came with the place) cleaning supplies would be great. Message me.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What’s the point of working on the road for so long if you have nothing to show for it?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My daughter has never struggled. That’s the point. I sacrifice, so she has everything I never had. The point was of all parents. Give all.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That’s cool, I’m a dad also and never wanted to get to involved in work for fear of missing out. I’m not rich though so I get what you say.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I spent $900 on my first mattress set and it had to be replaced within 6 years, I got one of those memory foam ones from amazon and 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

A cool metal frame from amazon for 1/3 the price and it’s so much more comfortable. Sometimes cheaper is better. Good luck and congrats!

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I did the same thing. A twin was under $200 shipped. The only downside is they are heavy and have no handles.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I find the memory foam mattresses do well on a carpeted floor. Solid even support for a soft mattress works very well

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Care for something timber? I like to make things for fun, let me know -aussie here.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That would be awesome. I build squirrel and bird houses. You can see the squirrel house on my feed. Let me know what u have in mind

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'll be honest, I'm not very creative with ideas, I can make things once I have a prompt, but I have no idea what you have or need/want.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A place to hang my keys and put mail when I walk in the door would be fantastic

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got the perfect thing in mind, pm me for PO box.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you have a wish list or a way to get you a house warming gift? I would love to send something!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Can you edit your post and post it at the top too? I'm afraid people won't see it.
