Hi! Y'all seem to have like when I talked about my books in the past. So I have a new one coming soon. Except this will be the first time I am crowdfunding it.
Project Tasman is a sapphic psychological dystopian novel that focuses on a woman, Alana Quevedo, who gets stuck in a government experiment against her will. While in there, she has to choose who lives and who dies. She's stuck with her fiancee, her ex, her brother, her sister, and a total stranger. But everyone either had a dark past or another complicating reason that might make Alana consider killing them.
As for me, I'm S. Morgan Burbank (they/them/she). I am a trans femme author who primarily writes dystopia and sci-fi, though I have also done dedicated trans fiction. Sorry for the selfie. But I'm not sorry for my kickass sword earrings.

You see, to even START transitioning you have to overcome the hurdle i like to call the "ugly woman" in your own head. I could have started my transition around 20, but i ended up waiting until 34 to start because i couldnt get over thinking it wasnt worth it because i would be an ugly woman. Now, i catch myself doing this exact thing, where i hold myself to an impossible standard of pretty woman i will never ever achieve. Its bullshit.

Pro tip for my masc homies out there: if you know how to partner dance (ballroom, swing, etc) take the opportunity if it comes up in conversation to show your trans lady friends, platonically, how to do a spin, turn, or twirl.
It will light them up and affirm them in a way they have likely *never* experienced in their life. It's visceral, it's real, it's poetry in motion, and *she is the piece of artwork* moving through that moment.

It's a tar pit like my situation in the outskirts of Pittsburgh. Need a car to go the distances but couldn't afford a rental, let alone a car, on the wages offered, unless I remained under the parental roof. Not an option. So I gathered up my last paycheck, hoisted my backpack & bought a bus ticket. I had a couple addresses of people I had met in better days, got a lucky housesitting offer (rent-free 3 mos) & landed a f/t job within walking distance. Saved up enough for a room & a used car.

I grew up in the Pittsburgh area. Close, it's almost Ohio, same cultural milieu, same climate, same lots of stuff. I fled the Upper Ohio River Valley like a scalded cat the moment I graduated High School. See, the world's a big place. Lots of cool people in many other places. Some are much nicer to live in. It's easier to relocate, the younger you are. Don't wait until you're too old.
