#15 *Tens* of thousands. Saruman didn't deliver that line with that much gravitas for you to miscount.

Oh, are we talking about Lord Celeborn, The only elf to turn down Sauron's BOSS TO HIS FACE? Lord Celeborn, the Elf who loved life so much that it literally grew up around him spontaneously, so that Even the Valar had to say he was blessed by GOD?
The Elf who held off an ARMY OF BALROGS (yes, an ARMY of HUNDREDS of those giant fire demons that Gandalf struggled against ONE that had been hiding in a cave for centuries) AND HELD THEM OFF, ALONE, BY HIMSELF, FOR 3 DAYS?
tHat Lord Celeborn?

#33 I imagine @Ngugi must have at least one of these

In fact do no (though even had to go check my tea mugs myself haha); beside a lot of books I have little to nothing to reveal any special interests admittedly

Did you know that Viggo Mortensen actually broke his toe in this scene and he screams from actual pain
TheLesserOfTwoWeevils
#9 I hate this one and always point out that in the books, Bilbo far from ignores responsibility, was present at the council of elrond and volunteers to destroy the ring himself. Boromir is going to take the piss but then realises everyone else at the council respects Bilbo. Gandalf has to gently dissuade him because although they all know the offer is genuine, it is quite beyond the very old hobbit.
HeyHeyPeoplePlinkettHere
I don't get the stew jokes? Did I miss a scene or am I not saying out loud with the right enunciation?
billycakers
Aragorn eating her stew and is clearly disgusted. You missed a scene for sure
Radix865
I can't remember if it's only in the extended cut but she makes stew for Aragorn but she can't cook for shit and he even tries to dump it on the ground secretely, I wonder if it was partially done to show that she's definitely not a housewive type.
But extended or not, it is only in the movies.
ratrider524360
It was actually a pointed joke at the catering company who tried feeding them that unapatizing shit so they literally ad libbed that in, the hate was all great
HeyHeyPeoplePlinkettHere
ahh thanks.

I love the hate for Eowyns stew

4) Unfamiliar with the work, somehow

Birds are dinosaurs in the same sense that humans are those little rat things that were alive 65 million years ago.
NameGoHereInDisField
A more correct comparison would be that birds are dinosaurs the same way hominids are great apes: a subgroup of the larger grouping. Nobody is saying the my chicken is a velociraptor...
WorkerLurker
It’s more related to a T-Rex than a raptor. However there’s still Living dinosaurs and some are birds (Cassowary)
JayDeeDubs
That is not accurate. Humans possess many traits that Cretaceous mammals had not yet evolved. Every trait of birds can be found in species of non-avian dinosaurs, they are simply a group of theropod dinosaurs that survived the extinction event and rediversified.

#32 Look, Sam's great, but this is what Tolkien said about the Ring:
Impossible for *anyone* to resist in that situation includes Sam. Also, without Frodo, Sam never would have made it anywhere near Mount Doom. Alas, Frodo is the major character the Jackson movies adapted the least well.
Grimmrog
sam is the sherpa, frodo the tourist xD
JayDeeDubs
If the Sherpa couldn't find the mountain or Nepal without the tourist maybe. Frodo and Sam needed each other much more than this analogy suggests.
Tjitso
People shaming Frodo for being seduced by the ring and then give up their new year's resolutions before the end of January.
DrMaggot
People who have read the book know that frodo is a hard ass hobbit. Shanked with a poisonous blade at withertop ? Nah I'll still walk 2 weeks and climb a fucking cliff while I'm at it.
Ring of doom that corrupted the heart of boromir in a split second at a mere glance? Whatever I'll carry that shit for more than a year until mount doom.
Men kings and elven kings ? Yeah those are my pals I'll converse with them as if they're my equals.
Skawomplious
My take is that the unit of Frodo and Sam is the hero. Neither could have done it without the other, and few others could have taken the place of either of them.
aflarge
Also Frodo tried to give it away multiple times, it's just the people he TRIED to give it away to convinced him of the necessity that HE keep it until it can be destroyed.

Funny, but not accurate.
Quessir
I've seen people claim he's an avatar of Eru Ilúvatar, and seen others claim he isn't. But if he isn't, who or what is he? As the image says, there's no accounting for how powerful he is, and in a world with a huge history of ridiculously overpowered creatures and people he is the only one with no explanation, and he stands high above any of them on Middle Earth.
If Sauron got the Ring and won the war, would Bombadil's land as is be in any way affected? Would Tom himself?
SlyMrFox
He was a character he made up to tell stories to his children and just decided to include him in the Lord of the Rings.
JayDeeDubs
Yes. The book is clear that Bombadil is not more powerful than Sauron with the ring, and that he would just be conquered last, as he was first.
Quessir
Cheers!
