#10 holy fucking creepy... .

I remember this ad in the 80s! Old guys creeping on young girls was a lot more accepted for some reason

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yup. And that one was real!

Vintage ads are like the Wild West of product placement.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

9 out of 10 me who tried Camels preferred women.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even if some are fake, it explains why boomers are so fucking braindead

Remember that the same marketing organisations that made these ads, and even some of the same individuals who worked on them, are still in the industry, but now they market for vapes and cbd products instead. The lawyers too - almost every lawyer from big tobacco who is still alive now either works with vaping or cannabis. There's a reason people have this notion that "vaping is safe".

The individuals are long gone. But yeah, Phillip Morris, for one, still going strong!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You may be forgetting but cigarettes were still being marketed in the west until the late 80s and are still being marketed in some countries now. It's not ancient history

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I did say that PM is still out there “going strong”. How did you miss that? Further, the individuals you’re saying are still there are long gone.

I'm reasonably certain #26 is fake. For the sake of my last shred of faith in humanity, I hope #10 is.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

The picture is real. The product and text are fake. Was originally an ad for bread.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can confirm that #10 is real, as I am old enough to have seen it in the wild.

#26 is fake, pretty certain that was a 50s jelly ad, but have bad news about the other... They had many, even TV ads, in this vein.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

17 & 26 are, but I think 10 is real.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

#26 is fake. #10 is real; I remember seeing that particular magazine as as a kid.

If you insist!

#4 this baby has SEEN things!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bernie Kopell! He played the doctor on The Love Boat and Siegfried on Get Smart!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#14 when did a baby suffocating in a bag become one of the best things in life? That’s bonkers

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#19 That’s Alf’s dad, who also played Goebbles in a Nazi movie.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's Bernie Kopell, not Max Wright. He was best known for playing the ship's doctor on Love Boat in the late 70s and early 80s. Neither actor played Joseph Goebbles in any movie I can find.

#10 holy shit. No.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's a real ad. I'm old enough to remember having seen it when it was current. :(

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What's funny about #4 is I was just talking to my dad earlier today about the time he rigged up a hammock in the back of the van for me and my brothers to ride in. Times have changed, eh?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it even that unsafe, given that it doesn't break?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was born in 1980, I did quite a few rides in the cargo area of a station wagon and the person's mom was just "Lay down if we see a cop". My parent's Buick wagon however had the tailgunner seat so we at least had seatbelts in that one. still horribly unsafe when you consider a rear end collision of course.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I call it the tailgunner because you faced backwards, so like a WW2 bomber if you had a twin linked Ma Deuce you could fend off tailgaters.
