As of this year, the annual American temp has risen 2 degrees. In central New York, it is now over 3 degrees. As a result all the climate zoning had to be changed for the first time in its existence. Whereas we were always zone 5, now we are zone 5b. Not good, But what do conservatives care. The know its real, but its easier to deny other than change their lifestyles, or corporate processes. So denying it makes it so much easier to save face.

DOE is huge for funding energy source R&D. Nuclear maintenance is a big part of their portfolio, especially by budget percent. But the main focus is still energy managing energy policy and especially R&D on that front.

I mean, they do deal with other energy-related stuff, mostly infrastructure and technology development…but yeah, the National Nuclear Security Administration, the sub-department that deals with the weapons, gets $22B out of Energy's total budge of $32B.

Suffice it to say the consequences of Gulf Stream collape would impact worldwide food production. Trying to speculate at the socioploitical fallout of that is a shitshow of a choose your own nightmare story. We have no where near the autonomous infastructure for even the billionaire preppers to maintain the quality of life they currently enjoy.
