an idea for a stupid prank. make the elephant only somewhat tense. people will immediately go for full strength and fall flat on their ass. Like Dwight hitting himself with a phone.
Tigers are not just strong but they are fast and have murder sabers in their paws and dagger teeth. Kudos to our ancestors who survived sharing a neighboorhood with lions and tigers. And sabertooth tigers and cave lions. Imagine an 1,100 lb lion inviting you to dinner.
Yup. An African Elephant can be up to around 14,000 lbs weight on the upper end on average, yet can pull more than their weight. They can pull and drag loads exceeding 18,000 lbs. The source I found lists them being able to drag almost 20,000 pounds!
Natural fiber rope has a strength under 10,000 lbs (with some variability) so it could just be mounted to the concrete and designed to snap with the right force.
Note, high performance rope can outclass and elephant, but this doesnt appear to be that
Chimp muscles are 1.5 times stronger per pound. So assuming same muscle density (so average chimp and reasonably buff human) a 50kg chp is as strong as a 75 kilo human. They are dangerous but not magical. Also ripping off, and especially biting off, genitalia is well within average human capabilities
Didn't Fox have a sumo vs chimp tug-of-war where the chimp won with one hand and not even looking bothered? Back when they were doing man v animal stuff?
Was an orangutan if you mean the same video as me. And they are vastly stronger than chimpanzees. By roughly a factor of 3. Comparison: Chimps are 1.5 average humans in terms of power, Orangutan are 5-7 times average humans in terms of power. So yeah, an Orangutan beats a sumo, the chimp would have been sent flying in tug o war.
Chimps are on average 1½ times as strong as humans in pulling and jumping tasks, because they have ~ double the number of fast-twitch muscle fibers, and their center of gravity is lower. They will tire a lot faster, though. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-40405026
They cannot. They're only about 1.5x as strong as the average human. They can dislocate your arms/legs, break bones, or rip your face off but they are nowhere near strong enough to rip off a limb
... The average human is weak as tho. 1-2 pullups for instance. Even I can do 10. And I haven't been to the gym for a decade and I never was that strong.
I wonder how easy it is for me yo break bones, dislocate and rip faces off. I am a lot stronger than the chimp by this metric.
Humans aren't really weak at all. Our bodies are designed to withhold our strength because we don't need it for 99.9% of our day to give us fine motor control the chimp lacks.
We are basically heavy infantry in the animal world. We can carry our body weight or MORE and still handle complex motor skill tasks while doing it (soldiers).
Just strength alone the chimp wins but we are top dog for a reason. We combined strength with intelligence. Though the 2nd is lacking. Lol
MightyIink
These are so fun! They put a stroller right next to the cutouts and I was easily able to pull the candy from the baby.
arumunus
Reminds me of the whole "I could fight a bear/tiger/ect" mindset.
MidnaDS
I could probably beat a real tiger. The tiger would maul my face and kill me, thus being disqualified from the tug-of-war contest.
Shapster
The joke would be tonmake the elephant real loose
TheVillageGrouch9000
↑ Strength or weight?
DeakVanNyke
my dude really thought he could out-tug an animal 3 times bigger than him...
Ijustwantquiet
And here I thought the ropes were for voiceboxes.

What are the chances that tiger and elephant are just a knot on the back of the box?
DukePhelan
This reminds me of that poll where something like 6% of Americans think they could take a brown bear in hand to hand combat.
The elephant level just seems disrespectful.
oldguyexlurker
Elephant rope might as well be bolted to a wall.
NoneOfYoBiseniss
It probably is. :)
Oblok
I'll bet the elephant one is just tied to the bottom of the box. :) It would be tough to fit an 18,000 lb / 8100 kg weight in that box.
HaveANiceFace
Maybe it's made of uranium.
DarkfireDragon
If they wanted to be really accurate, it would have lifted him into the air.
ImLurkingOnImgur
@UnitConversionBot how much is this in washing machines?
Grimmrog
is that even considered "strength" or just weight that plays its part there?
astrangehop
I was really hoping it would make an elephant sound when he pulled the rope

same

Probably a pully with a spring mechanism.
InnerBushman
That's animal's pulling force, not weight.

Careful, they're a pack hunter.

This only demonstrates its neck strength. You have no idea how strong a meerkat's ass is.

Let's kick it and see.

Or Tiger roar / Elephant trumpet
VosperOfAntarctica
I was half expecting the elephant one to be attached to a really light weight to fuck with people leaning into it with all their might
SometimesOthertimesAnytime
I was 100% expecting that.

I don't think I could out pull a chimp.

Depends if you bought it dinner first.

If the rope was connected to their brain and coming out of their forehead, I bet I could

They are 30 to 60kg, seems doable, they'd bite your face off though.

Male chimps are insanely strong and could easily rip a limb off, including that one that castrated a guy.

They are incredibly strong for their size. If sufficiently motivated, they can rip your arm clean off.
