They do though. Zombies, golems, skitterbots - they all remain forever. But regular old skeleton gem has a duration. Don't need corpses tho.

Oh okay, yeah that one. Summon Spectre. That lasts as long as they stay 'alive'. Sadly only get like 3 ( or close ) max summons at a time =(

It also makes more sense for both to have a timer, because they're created through mana, they're psuedo life-forms, they require energy, 1/2

2/2 mana is their energy, so they drain it. The only reason they wouldn't drain it is ambient mana, an external source, or just mechanics.

Actually, tons of fantasy media feature magic tools having limited mana supply that need to be refilled, either directly or ambient.

To be fair, in DnD they don't have a timer anyway, they just go 'feral' if you don't re-cast the spell during your next long rest.
