Brilliant engineering to be sure.
I don't even have to tell you the brand or the name of this abomination masquerading as a 'truck', that can't even survive a carwash.

Doesn't it rain in USA? Does that void warranty , too?

I remember a judge Judy case where someone's friend took their BMW through the car wash and apparently that kills it

Do not drive in rain. Do not park outside during rain. Do not drive while snowing. Do not park outside while its snowing. Do not drive in salt water. Do not park near salt water. Do not own this piece of shit.

I love how that guy thinks updating software will fix the issue.

i dont think most things involved with Elon regularly get very 'wet'
g0atsmuggler8
We have similar failed engineering designs in aviation. We fill the indents with micro balloons and a resin solution to let the water run off instead of building up and eroding the structure. Not sure if this works on vehicles too but I don’t see why it wouldn’t.
Filanwizard
My chevy truck has drain holes in the bed and frame because the cargo area of pickup trucks tends to have a chance of water exposure.
InablueMule
I see Die-Cast Material.
Munchman347
The two men who created Tesla were obviously not involved in designing that joke of a vehicle.
GlenL
Guys, I'm starting to think that Elon actually does play a decent role in the design of the cars
ElorYosnak
He played a role in the design of exactly one car: The Cybertruck.
The cars that work fine he was not involved with (majorly)
mmontour
"Works fine" may still include burning you to death when the electric doors refuse to open. Or "full self driving" disengaging moments before you slam into the back of a parked firetruck, thereby making the accident your fault.
ElorYosnak
This is your reminder that the stuff Tesla Makes that was designed by real engineers, namely the NotCybertruck, are perfectly serviceable vehicles.
The problem is not the engineers, the problem is Elon

i see so many in florida these days, i want a huge hurricane to come.

In Jan I was riding a bus from Atlanta to Miami and along the way I saw two wankpanzers getting pulled onto tow trucks along the side of the highway, on a single trip. Usually I don't see anything getting towed, I couldn't believe it was twice in one trip.
IBroughtASpareDrainpipe
It's the world's worst and most spectacular vehicle failure - the TESLA CYBERTRUCK!
HolyFreakingToast
~53% loss after 3 years and about 57% loss after 5 years, putting a 5-year resale value around $30k
From 100k to 30k sounds like a SPACEX investment!

Companies haven't hired actual engineers in probably decades now. Just a bunch of recent grads with zero experience and the overwhelming desire to say "Yes" to everything their bosses and CEO tells them. And then pay them pennies. While the rest of the half way decent engineers are hired to figure out ways to break products after a specific time frame. Not to make any products better and last longer.
ignoremejustlurkingaround
In decades? All the improvements in electric cars, computers/phones, solar energy, drones and so on are all from recent grads with 0 experierence? Damn, color me impressed!
whatsisname
Or they are just focused on "disruption". Part of the reason the older companies move slower is that they've learned many lessons from the past and have to factor those lessons in for subsequent products, whereas the new "disruptors" have to learn those same lessons again for the first time.
ps238principal
Precisely. Engineers will tell Elon that it takes 10 screws to hold something on to something else, and he'll say do it with five. That's his idiot brain believing that he knows best, and everyone else must be wasteful and not as cool as he is, not understanding that there's a reason why 10 screws were needed to hold something to something else.
herejusttopointouterrors
been seeing more of them on the road lately. saw 3 in a week. this pattern must mean something, but don't know what. and it can't be good.

And still Tesla's keep selling in high numbers
BARP
Tesla's sales have significantly declined, with reports indicating a drop of up to 50-70% in some countries and an estimated 11% decrease in the U.S. market.

Its still the number one ev seller in Europe 😔

Have they fixed this yet or it’s still a problem?
Currahee63
I wonder how many have died while driving in the rain. You'd think the engineers would have thought of something like that and taken precautions.

I mean, to be fair, rain is a fairly new phenomenon and its effects on machinery and electronics are not yet tested or well-understood...

You'll likely get a bunch of reasons for this, my understanding is Elon is against things like flood proofing because it will only flood 'once every blue moon' and it's not worth the effort or cost associated. Basically nothing bad ever really happens to him and on a basic biological level he doesn't understand that bad things actually happen or are real. That's just a take a got reading a ton of employee and former employee stories about the guy though.

They did. You have to be extraordinarily dumb to believe the cybertruck dies in water lie.

sometimes the engineers have to keep mechanics and aftermarket sectors all in ears distance to have a viable 20 year product

As a mechanic, every time I see pictures of the wirings and how things are assembled, I just don't get how those things are that expensive... I'm doing a better job when installing aftermarket crap in vehicles.

There's a mat black one with black windows that drives around here. Knowing that it's constantly slowly dying is hilarious to me.

I got passed by one earlier this week while riding my bike to work and it sounded like pebbles in a dryer. Just fuckin' janky.

There’s one in my neighborhood that easily beats that. It’s bronze, or I think it’s supposed to be. Brushed bronze. So it just looks closer to brown. On the entire back “wall” is something illegible, written in black script, looking like a half-assed attempt at one of those “metal af” fonts that Nordic death metal bands use on flyers. Truly, the D-Bag King!

I see one driving through Prosser often, we always flip it off
Stolf
That just makes them smile. They see it as they got under your skin and they won. No, you want to laugh at them. That really annoys them
Euclid11010
Maybe some of them, but the majority of them that I flip off, and I never miss an opportunity, tend to get really pissed off, so much so that they'll end up pulling next to me and trying to scream through there stupid ass window. I find the thumbs down at them also works well!
When the opportunity arises and you can pull up next to them at like a stoplight, absolutely laughing one's ass off pisses them off too!
Euclid11010
I am, and there are so many of them here it's legitimately insane! I must see four or five of them on my commute to and from the city. Why you would want to own this Boot licking dumpster on wheels anywhere, but in particular in the pnw, is beyond me.
jojoyojimbi
didn't melon husk make a bunch of the employees drive them and they have to or lose their jobs?
Euclid11010
Oh melon husk is a good one! And yes, indeed he did. Would love to see the honest testimonials about that particular experience!😂
jojoyojimbi
i believe 100% of employees said "fuck this, if it wasn't for the mortgage i'd drive this thing straight over his stupid nazi ass..."
