Man, yesterday was a shitshow. Today? Today will not be, if I have anything to emphatically say about it. Let's get this bread.
Basically, my car needed a jump... first sign of trouble. I managed to get the jump and off we went... so I thought. I needed to meet my boss to grab wines for a wine delivery for job two.
Then everything lit up like a Christmas tree and I lost power and was at the middle of the road. In frustration, beat my hands on the steering wheel and suddenly... it was working again.
This lasted for about 10 miles until I was in the middle of the desert between Cottonwood and Camp Verde, when it did the same thing again, only this time, also honking constantly. And I had committed the great sin of desert travel: I had no water with me.
I was going to grab water and a donut for breakfast in Camp Verde.
Oops.
My car insurance has roadside assistance, but I was worried about dehydration during the wait.
It ended up being about 120 minutes until the tow truck arrived. Luckily, had a few friends bring me water in the interim. If they all showed up at the same time, we could have done a DnD campaign.
Due to covid regulations I couldn't ride in the cab of the tow truck though. And so I was inside a car with no way to lower windows because now the battery was dead.
So a 25 minute ride to the mechanics in a car slowly turning into a pressure cooker was a result.
I suppose it only makes perfect sense that once I made it home, I pretty much wiped out the next 5 hours with a set of complete dissociation naps. I was spacing out sitting at the computer desk in games, on the phone trying to arrange car work, and rides to work for today and honestly, I hate when I get into dissociation episodes which are that bad.
Anyway, seems like an alternator issue. Either that, or my car is possessed.
Either their double shot of whiskey, their shot of sotol, or their bottle of Maderan AOC Tannat. Or so I hope.
Samwise is best.
I'd taste the results. So far the wines I've had from Florida have been... awkward. Except for the one that was a muscadine varietal fermented dry and bubbly in the same method used to make champagne. I'd actually drink that one again.
The avocado wines on the other hand that my friends and I tried, eh, not so much.
Send wine to me and Pippin, lol.
I always carry the weight of knowledge.
Yeap.
I kinda miss playing the Sims. It was the only time I could afford a dream house.
Yeah. This.
Yeah bro, what was up with that?
Honestly, I like the 400 CE outfit better.
Mystery ruin gang represent
Fire temple here.
Dun dun dun.
Just my luck.
But how else would we convince you you're in a simulation?
Food for thought.
Yeah, have they actually READ Revelations? I mean, honestly, I feel like only Gaiman and Pratchett really covered it well.
Accurate.

Me, my last game of Civilization 6, playing as the Maori and invading England.
Yup.
BIG MOOD.
Hehehehe
Into battle.
You are enough. Breathe deep. Take your meds. Drink some water. Survive today through spite. You matter.
Awww yeaaaaah.
So many wonderful and new things to fail at
I'm more "bad at humidity plus summer heat"
Yeah.....
That's so sad, Alexa play "Lament for Boromir."
I suddenly remember my dream last night was playing with Avatar: The Last Airbender legos.
I sent this to one of my best female friends after she recovered from Covid, and her response was "You should be ashamed of yourself. I laughed at this for like 20 minutes."
Pippin tax!
Today's message from Pippin: "Wanna use a book?" *Followed by a whole stream of Incoherant muttering for 30 seconds* "hahahahah Glory to Pippin."
tincoyote
As you clearly live in the desert, replace the battery too. Often. When an alternator s**** like that it takes the battery with.

#45 AMEN! This year has been swampy, if not overly hot.

This happened to me driving home for my dad's 75th birthday! Dead alternator in high altitude desert-like conditions. Thankfully I had a

I recommend trying muscadine grape juice to know what it tastes like pre fermentation. Some people just really hate how it tastes. 1/2

Also I recommend Lakeridge Winery's Muscadine wine. 2/2

#16 this is why so many of my friends abandon their faith: pointlessness seems so freeing and open-ended, while faith requires things of you

Right? No inherent meaning means you get to invent your own!

#45 Look, all I’m saying is that you can always cover up more against the cold. There is a point where I cannot remove more in the heat.

Heat is a discomfort. Cold hurts.

I will contend that loose, flowing clothing is far better in the heat than nakedness. Figure it out.
AlwaysUpvotesCatgirls
But what do I do when that’s still not cool enough?
CatrionaShadowleaf
Nah then they just say wearing coats or blankets inside is unprofessional and you're not allowed space heaters under your desk
AlwaysUpvotesCatgirls
DO IT ANYWAY. BECOME UNGOVERNABLE (but remember to unplug the heater at night so you don’t burn down the building).

Pikka
Kelvin, Celsius and Fahrenheit can measure exactly the same temperatures.
ryushi5
ShiftingPattern
And you could measure your commute in inches instead of miles. Fact remains, for certain ranges certain units are used. Astrophysics=Kelvin.
Pikka
Sure, but the image says you HAVE to. Maybe they meant like club requirements or something.
ShiftingPattern
Necessitated by practicality. Imagine the line "Dick so long you have to measure it in miles." Sure, inches still work, but miles make sense
ShiftingPattern
No real temperature with 5 or more digits is ever reported in F or C. Astrophysics, nuclear physics, etc. All use Kelvin.
chloramphenicolderivative
In astrophysics it's either so low that K is convenient or so high that +/- 300 is within margin of error anyways.
chloramphenicolderivative
And Kelvin is only more convenient when discussing very cold temperatures.
ddet1207
Came here to say that.
Pikka
Saves you a few micrograms of pencil lead when writing down your measurements.
jomi20806
It actually very useful in thermodynamics because the energy to temperature scaling is linear where 0k=0jewels of heat energy
jomi20806
And if (x)k=y jewels then 2(x)k =2y jewels
jomi20806
Both C and F have their 0 point well above absolute zero so calculations regarding thermal energy are far more complex
modis
C + 273.15 is not exactly complex. But it is an unnecessary modifier.
chloramphenicolderivative
It's obviously necessary for calculations, but for discussions Celsius is much easier most of the time.
jomi20806
Celsius is easier when discussing temperature relating to how we feel it, but for anything physics related K is king
