These are pretty cool

Would love to see people in business attire crawling into and out of those things.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man, imagine playing Fallout on #2 or #3.

1 week ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

2 makes sense but 3 the screen is too far away and at the wrong angle

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You sure she isnt playing already?

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It was a much more optimistic time.

they dreamed corporate would care about employee comfort

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The idea of “corporate” in the modern sense, really didn’t exist. There were large an small companies, but the unyielding machine we have today was in its infancy, and most Americans had no idea where it was headed.

For instance, w hen Nixon tied health insurance to employers in 1973, people rejoiced, thinking it would not be paid for, not realizing this allowed their employer a huge increase in control.

As someone who's worked with hardware like that I can confirm the blue one is AI generated. The details are fuzzy enough on the others that I can't tell for certain, but if someone is saying "here's a set of things that never existed" and one is AI generated, I think it's safe to say the whole set is, yeah?

Yellow and red are insane, no way. Pink and blue look comfy/cozy, would try

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Super-futuristic at the time to have S. Asia, Asian models!

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#2 I feel like this would be the most annoying to get in and out of

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is anyone worried that these are all AI generated?

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Im so certain they are

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

well I wasn't until you said that! These designs look entirely in keeping with some of the more out there designs of the 60s and 70s.

Very 60's

I miss when we were looking at a Star Trek future instead of a Mad Max one.

1 week ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

If it helps, we're on track for that Star Trek future.
Earths history in the 21st century by Star Trek is very bleak: powerful police states, world wars, severe pollution, mass extinction of species; mass poverty & famines etc.
Mankind walked through hell to achieve Star Trek society.

I want Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Because I can befriend a dinosaur.

The pink and blue ones are definitely good gaming chairs

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SO you just kind of slither in and out of the pink one and the blue one?

1 week ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You could maybe build in some internal hinges for the blue one to open up that gap. The pink one... I don't know.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could do the same, just have it detach from the support in the back and swing open.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

at least pink and blue one look more comfortable...others need you to twist to see screens.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are inserted into them as a small child and are never allowed to leave your job again.

1 week ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

So job security? Sweeeet

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Either one looks like it could have a pivot at the user's right elbow

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

you don't. These are all AI generated images, uploaded yesterday to Twitter/X and it seems they haven't been on the internet anytime before.

1 week ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Oh I assumed as much. But still, it begged the question.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Trying to use the yellow one tweaked my back and neck just looking at it

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Imagine unmuting just to say "nothing from my end" in one of these

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wasn't shrooms back then.... Acid....

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd never be able to clean off all the Doritos dust and splooge.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Beside yellow one, the other 3 would be killer as seats on a plane

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would doze off immediately in one of these

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would love more big buttons and blinky lights at my workstation...

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to build one of these - but how the heck have they done he upholstery? I mean, I can make the objects and run the electronics, but that looks like fabric, without any edges? It doesn't look flocked, but perhaps I just need better reference pictures.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nevermind. See the seams now. Still don't understand how they did the fitting, but it is less ineffable now.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's AI. So none of it is bound by the laws of reality.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like a Dr Who furniture

4 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It did.

It’s just in black with RGB lights and gaming setup instead of workstation.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My new fav reply

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because those mushrooms were actually LSD

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

These are visibly bad design and I'm happy they never became reality. The screens are not aligned with the user's eyeline when they're sitting comfortably. Many of them also misalign the keyboards with the users' hands. And next to the keyboards are curved surfaces covered in fabric. No place to put down a mug, or use a mouse, or even just rest a hand.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They're AI generated 60's themed retrofuturism "workstations". It's not meant to be usable, it's meant to get clicks.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The orange/red one doesn’t look too bad, the yellow one either. No idea how TF you’re supposed to get into or out of the blue or purple one.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Blue you just wedge in from the side.
The pinkish purple one seems like you'd have to crawl in from the bottom.

How do you get in and out of these extras from The Andromeda Strain (great book and movie...WAY ahead of their time)

I heart prehumous Crichton.

That’s the neat part: you don’t.

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Haven’t you seen The Jetsons? You just push a button and it folds back into a bracelet.

Ohh I reviewed Andromeda Strain, it was really good indeed!

Great book although sphere is better

And also Jurassic park (seriously) is an excellent book and 100% worth a read

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've read all of his work. The first JP book is eons better than the movie...which was also pretty damned good.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

JP is such a good book! I saw it on the bookshelf of a friend of mine and made a joke about reading it. He straightened me out real quick and was like you better. Read that before you’re gonna talk shit about it - now I’m a convert

I read that first and then a few of his other books

I have a signed limited edition hardcover from before his passing.
