We must smooth the jaggies.. but now it's too blurry.. we must sharpen the things... but now they're too crisp.. we must smooth the things..

It's surely no coincidence these pictures came out shortly after the crypto collapse and ensuing FLOOD of good, cheap GPUs.

that's because price drop they can at last offer to buy one

Haven't seen a RTX meme in ages! xD

4 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 4

Isn’t RTX a Rooster Teeth event in Austin, Texas every summer?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's because the crypto farmers bought up all the RXT so there was none left for the memes. /s

Imagine the size of the fan in this, or a water cooler.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have RTX 2070 and funny thing - only game that I have that supports RTX is Minecraft:D

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wanna go there so bad. The game Elite Dangerous is my happy place because this is the only thing I want to do.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some will say it’s photoshopped

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well... It *is* JWST captures IR, so we technically can't see the images and they have to alter them.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Somebody needs to show nasa installing 3090’s in JWST. Someone better at photoshop than me

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wasn't a big fan when JW went from his impressionist stage to hyperrealist

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Space was a lot cloudier back in the early 2000s.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not gonna lie, both of them look good to me.

I hope they have started working on the next telescope, I want to see even better pictures in my lifetime.

CRISP

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dang... That's some magical looking stuff right there. It's hard to imagine that everything we are and are surrounded by came out of nebulae

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now let CSI zoom in on it to sharpen the image of first atom to ever exist.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's getting better

Big enough!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

this is why I come to this site

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I love that it's Jimmy Barnes, a famous Aussie Rock singer from the 80s and 90s.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So is the actual artist, kirin callinan

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..."

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Or in the case of my poor 3770k running 5.1GHz@1.55v, a good razor and a lot of liquid metal.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That’s what I’ve been missing? An old@phone!

Hubble doing its best for 2 1/2 decades:

4 years ago | Likes 191 Dislikes 0

Dont worry Hubble, like Pluto you will always important to me. Even when some Space-Nerds say no.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Awww

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I still love the Hubble. There are some sciences it can see that JWST can't

4 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 1

That's neat. Like what ?

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Is this what's left of the pillars of life?

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

I have no idea for certain but I’m going to guess it’s a different dust cloud. Most things on the cosmic scale occur over eons

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

It's the same dust cloud taken with two different space telescopes. Image 1 is Hubble. Image 2 is James Webb.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's in Carina Nebula, The Cosmic Cliffs at the edge of NGC 3324, at least that's what wikipedia says

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

That's utterly amazing.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was in the pool, okay?

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It genuinely baffles me how people say pillars of life and not the 3 stages of syphilis infected penis

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Pillars of Creation are apart of the Eagle Nebula, totally different object in space.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ah, creation. I was close tho... When I saw the pic it reminded me of an article I read years ago that said the pillars were disappearing

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In the newer image they do show they have been ripped apart a bit, there are more images on imgur

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep and these "Cosmic Cliffs" will be blown apart too. That's what happens to stellar nurseries where new stars are formed. Circle of life.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My PC overheated just from looking at this post.

4 years ago | Likes 403 Dislikes 1

bruh my 3090 is smoking from this picture

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

once i felt the programmer horror that is hearing all the fans spin up as you try to open an xml file

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

iGPU lol

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Thanks. You do you Bruh.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

iGPUs have gotten pretty good, recently. Especially the AMD ones.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Even the Vega cores in my 5800hs are bloody reasonable for an iGPU. No match for the 3060 dGPU but more definitely a good compromise 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

between frames and power consumption without getting ugly or turning into a slideshow. 2/2

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, leaks for the lower end RDNA3 one that they've announced for next year say that it will have performance on par with the 60 watt 3060M.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good. I'm hardly guilt free on feeding this but the PC crowd really needs to stop being happy to just pump more electricity in for the 1/2
