Innovation meets capitalism. Empathy need not apply.
FractalPrism
airline travel can be awful due to greedy corps shrinking legroom and poorly made thin seats, it can definitely suck.
BonyCephalopod
You must be too young to remember smoke filled planes
Alkuam2
Apparently you were less likely to get sick on a flight back then, because now they recycle the air without the smokers.
SirButcher
Nope, air still flowing in from the outside, using the air compressed by the engine's compressor, and heated up a little.

Yeah we 're literally doing what medieval people thought only angels witnessed in the kingdom of god - and we made it mundane.
PaintYourWagon
I dont think medieval people 'literally' thought angels sat in a chair fighting for arm rests while watching Shrek 3 on a tiny screen
TresusIbor
And so did the angel sayeth unto me: 'Hey now, thou art an allstar!'

And it got even worse when "someone" decided to add useless security measures just to make people feel safe.

TSA has ruined air travel. Unnecessarily stressful.

Just get a private jet problem solved. 7 billion people on Earth and Ariana wants the sky all to herself. Either get in line or pay up.

If you think flying is bad, try playing Oregon Trail. Or Lemonade Stand.

I watched lemonade stand movies, they were nice..
That's Lemon Party movies.

YourMomsSidePiece
I had to play Lemonade Stand on a Commodore PET computer & load it with a cassette tape, now that's human suffering.

Wow. I never even heard of those. And my pro-tech family had a Commodore 64.
I was very jealous of my friend who had a commodore 64, that was like living in the future.
You win. Mine was an Apple IIc which was blazingly fast with 128K of RAM.

I don't hate the actual flying part, I hate the airport parts.

It's actually a testament to the heights and depths of human nature. We aspire to settle the stars but will debase ourselves to save $25
Percivalhalla
Haha, what kind of airline only charges $25 more for 1st class seats?
I was thinking about things like not paying for assigned seats and then zerging the queue, or not getting checked bags and wearing 5 shirts
idonthaveanyideawhatthehelliamtalkingabout
There is no need for a checked bag, learn how to travel light and how to pack.
Plus, have you seen how airport staff handles your bags ?
I fully believe that if airlines offered a $15 discount but you had to wear a dunce cap for the duration of the flight, people would take it
jefffffffffffffffffffffffff
Wow you are a whole new level of pussy
Potatopeelerkind
Difficult things are often uncomfortable. You act like making something suck takes a special effort rather than just being the default.
Except it could suck a lot less. TSA is excessive and repeatedly proven useless. Cut down on that nonsense and save a ton of money, which
could translate into better profit margins for airlines, meaning they could increase flight prices only slightly and put in fewer seats per
flight and be both more profitable and a way better experience. Then there's the whole boarding and deplaning nonsense that could be made
way more reasonable and 1000% more efficient, and you solve almost all the major complaints about flying.
Snooj
Because we want it cheap and convenient. You want to experience the pinnacle of human achievement for $250 round trip? It'll suck.

I've always preferred frozen yoghurt to ice cream.

You could always pay a little extra for better seats and service in upper class if it bothers you. Even if it's $400, that's like paying-
- around $400 to travel the world in the time of a short nap while relaxing as if you're in the living room. You just dont like "losing" -
- money by paying more for better service. I'll take the sardine packs but I know that's what I'm paying for with $80.
lovingspace
I sometimes pay more for better service (food), but I do feel that airlines make economy class suck on purpose, unnecessarily.
The sardine packs are $400, though.
