Was hoping for broken glass (but that the humans would be unharmed).

Apparently Arnold Schwarzenegger attempted to pay the bill while hanging out with Andre the Giant. Andre picked up 6'2'', 235 lbs Schwarzenegger like a child, puts him on top of a cabinet, and then said "I pay".

Me and my bestie settle this argument with the flip of a coin.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but who's coin are you flipping?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My late Father and my Father-in-law were like this.. they both started a wrestle over paying and fell through a restaurant door marked 'private'.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You mean "pirate". Cause' pirates live back there, right?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You see the real victim here is the cashier who now has to hear from the other guy "why did you take it from him, it had to be me?!"

Plot twist. The guy in black has the phone of the other guy

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. Please. Waste my time while fucking around next to a huge glass door. I totally want to watch you dickheads show off your generosity while being a little concerned that I may be cleaning up blood and glass soon. This is fun for all of us.

Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to sneak away from the table to pay for the group when he felt someone grab him from behind, pick him off the ground "like a small child" and carry him back to the table, Andre the Giant then told him "I pay!"

We need to normalize those clothes in the west. Because every year I get older and in turn: my balls hang lower, are sweatier and itch more intensely. And those robes look comfy.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aye because next time they're due to meet up it's at the fancy restaurant in the swanky part of town, with their families.
I believe I got the bill last time wee man!?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I want to pay the bill I just do a power move about 10 minutes after we get our food excuse myself to use the restroom and go give my credit card to the server.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, no, let me pay really.... oh, ok.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just say "thank you".

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I was a server, I used to hate it when people did this.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

I don't know why you are being downvoted. It really does put you in an awkward position.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not only do you have to awkwardly stand there while this little game plays out, but - more importantly - you're being kept from promptly serving your other customers the entire time.

The most annoying thing a customer can do is waste their server's time. It's exponentially worse than rudeness, bad tipping, or making weird requests.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a very common occurrence in Arab countries no joke

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dont have whatever gene makes people do this.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sometimes it's good to capitulate straight away 1.see the surprise in their face 2. Take the wind out of their sails.
Aye ok, on you go, can be such a fuck you with the right person in the right setting.
It does annoy me when someone I know but not that well insists on paying for or buying a drink when I absolutely 100% do not want it. If I need to leave/be elsewhere/had enough then I'm walking out out, fuck you & your machismo

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

The man in white is a brilliant actor. no one could possibly doubt that he never intended to pay.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They look to be having fun, but for the most part learning to accept a gift is part of respecting a person too. Allowing them to give, and

1 year ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 4

I bet these were brothers fighting over who gets to brag to their parents that they paid the whole thing.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A lot of middle eastern countries have pretty elaborate cultural etiquette over the giving and accepting of gifts. Offering and refusal back and forth multiple times is the norm and a sign of respect and friendship. It's like insulting your friends might seem mean out of context when it's actually a way of expressing the friendship

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That works with a uniform culture, but falls apart online or in pces with a lot of variety, which is more and more.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One lesson I’ve learned And have passed onto my kids is “accept the generosity of a person by saying thank you, it’s something they wanted to do and are in a position that they are able to”.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah! Or "sometimes asking for help/accepting help is giving that person the gift of the warm fuzzies from getting to help" <- and I think that might be even bigger for children, letting them be helpful and learn rather than sent away.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

for compliments it applies too, that denying a compliment is telling a person they are stupid or lying. When I see this irl it looks dumb.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

If you're in a country like Japan, if you accept the compliment some will think it means you agree with it and therefore lack humility, so ppl think badly of you

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's cultural too.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Just like child brides, and honor killings. It's cultural.

I absolutely believe this happened. Men get into weird competitions over who gets to pay.

I was a college student and had just had dinner with two other people. One of them was older had had already pulled his hard out, but I grabbed the bill. He looked at me and said, "no, I pay." I looked back and said, "I get the tip?" He nodded, and we were both satisfied (I couldn't have afforded the full meal).

Some of them also get extremely angry if you're a woman and want to pay your half.

My bestie and I do this all the time. He learned how to pick pockets just to nab my wallet once, but at least I was prepared in Chicago when an actual thief tried the same thing but found the joke moustrap I had there instead. Thief still screamed, fell down, and tried to crawl away while flapping his left hand, causing the trap to FLING off and break a window.

Point is, dude do dumb shit for a laugh, don't underestimate a deep friendship's ability to generate substantial pranks.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In some Arabic cultures, a lot of little things like this determine who is the “leader” of the group. Entering the room last is my favorite just because of that one ancient video of the two princes playing ring around the Rosie trying to get the other to go through the door first.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sometimes to hilarious extremes. Legend is Andre the Giant was having lunch with Schwarzenegger and Arnold got up to pay. Andre straight picked his ass up, took him back to seat, plopped him down and insisted, quote, "I pay." Which Arnold has more-or-less confirmed. Apparently Wilt Chamberlain was involved and they carried him out to put on a car instead?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The documentary on HBO shows an interview that has Arnold saying Andre put him on a high piece of furniture.

Anyone in the restaurant industry has developed tactics to deal with this so you're not waiting on two dudes to argue over it. Ya gotta shut it down somehow if you've got other shit to do. I mean I've literally just told somebody "he gave me the card first, faster on the draw" and then walked away to charge it

1 year ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

That’s a legit reason. Also try, he looks like he tips better. Dude will feel honor bound to live up to that

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

not really. id laugh, but always tip the same

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You basically have to pick one guys side

One time I had two guys arguing over who would pay so I dropped the check in the middle of the table, yelled "death match!" and walked away.

Getting involved in your little dick-waving contest is absolutely not part of the job. Figure your own shit out.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I mean it's not really a joke its more them trying to be generous, that's another one of my tactics is say "they're being generous, I'm sure you can pick up the next one" especially if you know they're like going to a second location like movies or drinks after dinner

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always excuse myself to the men’s room and sneak my card to the waiter ahead of time so it’s already done and dusted before the competition to pay starts.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Long ago I had a couple people do that. Just kept the card by the register till it was time to pay, super easy. 10/10

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I want you to know that that is 100% a great move if you catch the server when they're not busy. Hell yeah let's just fucking swipe it

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I've booked a dinner for my bestie, his wife (then gf), my partner, and another couple we mutually know, and my bestie and I BOTH did this to the hostess within like 20 minutes of each other. Staff split the table between the two of us. Brilliant.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah two way split is fine but it's best if it's all on one... but obviously however you wanna pay. One time I was having a really off day and I got an 8 top with old guys (guess who has two thumbs and sold six Reubens) and they all wanted to pay separate. I walked to the POS with 8 cards and my manager just went "oh, Gravy :(" like yeah I know it's fine it's fine
