The Star Wars

Before Star Wars ep IV there was 'The Star Wars' written by George Lucas. The original screen play has now been officially adapted into comic form with all the characters how George Lucas originally envisaged and intended them to be. You might be surprised how different some of our favourite characters were originally intended to appear.

Prologue

General Luke SkyWalker

Han Solo

R2-D2

C3PO

Chewbacca

Princess Leia

Darth Vader

So this is what the Uncanny Valley feels like... It's like viewing Star Wars from the eyes of someone who thinks it's silly/nerdy.

After reading this, all I can say is, thank god his wife was there to tell him NO!

Han Solo = Swamp Thing

Going to look for this and read the FUCK out of it. Thanks, @OP.

viewcomic.com? What is this sorcery? o.o

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

maybe lucas hates the franchise because he didn't actually get to create what he wanted to.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Leia is kinky

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

everybody looks wierd and kinda dumb, except leia, who suddenly looks like a goddamn badass.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Haha, this is great!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

George Lucas also wrote a script where everyone was wookies, so pick your battles guys.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funny how Chewbacca looks like Zeb in Rebels

10 years ago | Likes 188 Dislikes 4

C3PO looks like a Cybermen

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's intentional. The creators took the original design for Chewie and used it for Zeb.

10 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

same reason Chop looks like OG R2-D2. it was intentional.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Huh. I guess that was intentional now that you mention it

10 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Probably explains the running gag of folks referring to him as a wookie.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chopper is based on the original R2 (seen above) most of Rebels uses the original concept art actually

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Probably explains the running gag of folks referring to him as a wookie.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Most if not all of the main characters are based on old concepts, including Zeb.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wasn't Luke's original surname "Starkiller"?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why does Han solo look like swamp thing???

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Darth Vader? more like full renegade Shepherd

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Featuring the Mexican demon from scooby doo as Chewbacca!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Vader rocking the Hitler hair, I see.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This looks pretty badass actually

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spoiler alert: the plot is a lot like Phantom Menace but worse. I'm convinced Dark Horse made this to make fun of Lucas' terrible writing

10 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

Agreed - I had this a couple of years ago, read it and sold it on. I love Star Wars, but this version is pretty damn terrible IMO.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was fun to read, but it's VERY unrefined storytelling. There were several points I was lost as to what was actually happening.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'm beginning to feel like the prequels went to shit because unlike in the original trilogy nobody called Lucas out on his bullshit.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm convinced that the entire Star Wars saga has been a continuous battle against Lucas' ideas.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

He really isn't a good writer, the original trilogy was only good because others were involved in the writing process.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I think he's good at knowing mythology and creating a universe but he had no idea how to write dialogue or characters.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Which depresses me deeply. That's what I'M good at and what I'M bad at. I feel like it crushes my dream of being a writer.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't give up! Learn from other people's mistakes as well as your own. You can do it!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Meet someone who sucks at what you're good at and is good at what you suck at. Write a bunch of stories and make some indie films. Boom.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*Dark Vader

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I want to see the original script Lucas made for the Phantom Menace, I hear that it also was very different from the movie we got.

10 years ago | Likes 131 Dislikes 0

Pretty much every original draft for a movie is very different then the final product.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I agree, but I don't think that diminishes the interest in seeing how the drafts of Star Wars movies evolved into the films we have now.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Of course not. I wouldn't mind seeing the original drafts of my favorite MCU movies and Harry Potters.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The original script for Return of the Jedi was way different. Yoda & Obi-Wan return in physical form to help Luke fight Vader & the Emperor.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I heard it was amazing. I wish to see it also.

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

Knowing what George had written for VII would also be quite interesting since they apparently didn't use his story at all for it.

10 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Would have been nice to see, "See 'Vector Prime', and have fun keeping up."

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Space Opera he said. Classical real old one.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well admiral Thrawn starts reconquring the galaxy for the imperials and emperor palpatine comes back as a clone.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Never forget the Thrawn Cycle

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

it had more podracing

10 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

2 1/2 hours of nothing but pod racing.

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

That doesn't sound awful...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Considering how much pod-racing I did on the N64, I'm going to say that would have been a better movie than what we got.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Podracer 500

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

With Jar Jar driving

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Driving Miss Padme

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

False. The Original script had Gen Luke and a group of kids (16-19yo) trying to protect Queen Leia, but some of the kids die.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lucas was heavily inspired by Dune in certain areas.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are you sure it wasn't "A Princess of Mars"?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh definitely, there are many parallels, especially to his early drafts and still a lot made it into the movies

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And that's an ARC-170 Starfighter in the background of the first picture, George obviously loved that design.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Basically just another cheeseball 70's sci-fi movie. I thank Lucas' wife, Gary Kurtz, and the technical limits for reigning this shit in.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

and Harrison Ford for just making stuff up and having it turn out awesome!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where do I buy this?!?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Wasn't Luke's last name originally Starkiller?

10 years ago | Likes 367 Dislikes 2

Starkiller, legendary rebel?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Sky Walker?" "Star Killer?" "--NO, Star-Lord!"

10 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 1

It was, but maybe that was before it was adapted into a screenplay? I don't remember.

10 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Nope. John Cena.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, originally Dirk Starkiller. The worst hero name ever.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope..... Chuck Testa

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

in this version of the screen play luke, anakin and starkiller are separate characters

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, this isn't the first draft. One of the first maybe, but not the very first.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No idea, but Starkiller is the name of the protagonist in the 'Force Unleashed' games.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but in this adaptation, Anakin Starkiller the young idealist is trained by General Skywalker instead of Luke and Obi Wan.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And he's was gonna be a chick too

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Annikin Starkiller" becomes Luke's Padawan and is (if memory serves; it's been a year or so) the closest thing to our Luke in this version.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think it was originally skywalker, then they changed it to starkiller only to revert it back.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nope. There was Luke Skywalker, and Anakin Starkiller.

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 8

Note: Luke Skywalker, Anakin Starkiller, and Darth Vader are all completely unrelated. Vader isn't even the main villain in this version.

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Starkiller as, the force unleashed, starkiller?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And also Bendak Starkiller.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thats what inspired his codename to be starkiller. Referencing anakins original last name.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

yes, thats why the first order base in ep7 called Starkiller base (easter egg)

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Or you know, because it literally kills stars to power it's weapon

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

More like fan service then easter egg. REMEMBER WHEN WE HAD TO FUCKING CHASE THEM DOWN ?! WE ARE GRUMPY.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Female bounty hunter starkiller? I read somewhere that was original, but seems not.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For everyone wanting to read this... don't. Trust me.

How bad could it be?

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The prequels are better.

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

No condemnation could be worse than this...

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

yes, this.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"As George Lucas originally intended it to be!" Yeah how bad could that go?

10 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

This comic was not very good.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hard to make a good comic from such a weak script.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

(Shots fired)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's almost like George Lucas doesn't sh*t out gold all the time. Not that there isn't a portion of the fandom that actually believes that

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, fired first ;P

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Han Solo..... SMASH!!

10 years ago | Likes 736 Dislikes 4

Explains why he buddied up with Chewie so much though. :) ALSO WHAT WOULD KYLO REN REALLY LOOK LIKE OMG.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Looks much more like the swamp thing.

Except he has a front neck.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

without the turkey neck

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have that book too. Apparently, Skywalker was originally based off of Flash Gordon. As was a lot of the original concept art.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think older kyle katarn

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Luke S.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remeber reading somewhere that skywalker was his nick name in college

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Although I never heard this, I would not be at all surprised if George did this.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You mean 'Annikin Starkiller', right?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Holy shit he's SYFY TWILIGHT! Luke is Lucas' own Bella Swan!!

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Think it's a coincidence the dude was named "Luke" by a man named Lucas?

10 years ago | Likes 262 Dislikes 1

It was either that or "Ass"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

From what I hear, the main character being named Luke S. was entirely intentional.

10 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 0

I never noticed this. Wow. I don't know what to do with the information

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

TIL that i am oblivious

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You are not alone.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean...he does now...35+ years later...looks nothing like what he did back then

10 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 3

Oh shit I didn't even realize that. That must've been intentional though.

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 6

are you claiming that George Lucas knew what he would look like 35+ years later?

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

No, he's saying the comic came out in 2014

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

George lucas didn't draw the picture. To me he looks more like ep 7 luke

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No. But most likely this comic wasn't made back then. Maybe the artist was inspired by Mcquarrie's art and old character concepts.

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

oh ok, I mean I guess that's a possibility
