Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)
A murder mystery brings together a private eye, a struggling actress, and a thief masquerading as an actor.
IMDb: 7.6/10
Personal rating: 9/10
This movie is very good at delivering its comedy. The fast talking RDJ along with the charismatic Val Kilmer is very entertaining. Furthermore, it's just a great plot.
28 Days Later (2002)
Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.
IMDb: 7.6/10
Personal rating: 8/10
This is probably my favourite zombie film. The acting is great and the way it's filmed makes it feal very realistic and as a viewer, it is easy to relate to the characters.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
High schooler Greg, who spends most of his time making parodies of classic movies with his co-worker Earl, finds his outlook forever altered after befriending a classmate who has just been diagnosed with cancer.
IMDb: 7.8/10
Personal rating: 8.5/10
This movie is heartwarming, hilarious, well made, has good acting and is a very enjoyable watch.
Mysterious Skin (2004)
A teenage hustler and a young man obsessed with alien abductions cross paths, together discovering a horrible, liberating truth.
IMDb: 7.7/10
Disclaimer: This movie deals with very harsh subjects and is not for the faint of heart.
Personal rating: 8/10
This movie is devastating albeit a very good watch. The young actors in the movie made very convincing performances as well as JGL.
Mary & Max (2009)
A tale of friendship between two unlikely pen pals: Mary, a lonely, eight-year-old girl living in the suburbs of Melbourne, and Max, a forty-four-year old, severely obese man living in New York.
IMDb: 8.2/10
Personal rating: 7.5/10
Mary & Max is a sweet story about friendship, love and loneliness. A very nice watch.
The Kings of Summer (2013)
Three teenage friends, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land.
IMDb: 7.2/10
Personal rating: 7/10
This is a fun watch with an original idea behind it. I enjoyed it very much.
The Spectacular Now (2013)
A hard-partying high school senior's philosophy on life changes when he meets the not-so-typical "nice girl."
IMDb: 7.1
Personal rating: 7/10
A more serious and perhaps even depressing movie than what is expected. It deals with very real subjects. I think it's worth a watch.
Training Day (2001)
On his first day on the job as a Los Angeles narcotics officer, a rookie cop goes on a 24-hour training course with a rogue detective who isn't what he appears.
IMDb: 7.7/10
Personal rating: 7.5/10
This movie will keep you entertained all the way through with its snappy dialogue, tense scenes and good acting.
Charlie Bartlett
A rich kid becomes the self-appointed psychiatrist to the student body of his new high school.
IMDb: 7.0/10
Personal rating: 7/10
Charlie Bartlett is a movie about how to handle the teenage life. It's entertaining, funny and overall a good watch.
Donnie Darko (2001)
A troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a large bunny rabbit that manipulates him to commit a series of crimes, after narrowly escaping a bizarre accident.
IMDb: 8.1/10
Personal rating: 9/10
Donnie Darko is a film about heroism and sacrifice, decorated with disturbing imagery, the horror of everyday life, and a soundtrack reminiscent of Lynch's best. It is also a film worthy of several viewings and at least as many varied interpretations.
Chronicle (2012)
Whilst attending a party, three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery underground. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.
IMDb: 7.1/10
Personal rating: 7/10
This movie is a refreshing take on the superhero genre. The thing is in this movie, great power comes with no responsibility. It deals with some serious themes while still having its funny moments.
Robot & Frank (2012)
Set in the near future, an ex-jewel thief receives a gift from his son: a robot butler programmed to look after him. But soon the two companions try their luck as a heist team.
IMDb: 7.1/10
Personal rating: 7/10
This film is interesting, surprising, heart-warming, intelligent, thought-provoking, amusing, understated, well written and well directed. It delivers first-rate performances by first-rate actors.
Drinking Buddies (2013)
Luke and Kate are coworkers at a brewery who spend their nights drinking and flirting heavily. One weekend away together with their significant others proves who really belongs together and who doesn't.
IMDb: 6.1/10
Personal rating: 7/10
It won't appeal to everyone, because as it is so realistic, not much happens. It's more focused on the almosts and the might-have-beens than the happeneds. But it's so delightful, funny, observant, and coyly ambiguous, I really hope people give it a chance.
K-PAX (2001)
PROT is a patient at a mental hospital who claims to be from a far away planet. His psychiatrist tries to help him, only to begin to doubt his own explanations.
IMDb: 7.4/10
Personal rating: 7.5/10
K-PAX is very thought provoking. It has brilliant acting from Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. With a very interesting story, it captures your interest from start to finish.
Man on the Moon (1999)
The life and career of a legendary comedian, Andy Kaufman.
IMDb: 7.4/10
Personal rating: 7/10
Man on the Moon is hilarious. The nature of Charlie Kaufman's humor is the element of surprise and dark comedy, so if you like that, you'll like the movie.
The Other Guys (2010)
Two mismatched New York City detectives seize an opportunity to step up like the city's top cops whom they idolize -- only things don't quite go as planned.
IMDb: 6.7/10
Personal rating: 8/10
I discovered this movie a couple of years ago. It was not at all what i had expected. It was so funny! The chemistry between Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Even though the plot might be pretty predictable, it holds up with its hilarious comedy.
Brick (2005)
A teenage loner pushes his way into the underworld of a high school crime ring to investigate the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend.
IMDb: 7.4/10
Personal rating: 8.5/10
Brick is a very underrated and unknown gem. It's a modern take on the film noir genre. It might be a little hard to follow, but it's a very well made film.
Lola (1998)
After a botched money delivery, Lola has 20 minutes to come up with 100,000 Deutschmarks.
IMDb: 7.8/10
Personal rating: 8/10
Lola (aka Run Lola Run) is without a doubt, one of the best technical films ever made. A profound, exciting, new age masterpiece that has well and truly left its mark on the film industry. I enjoyed watching it a lot.
50/50 (2011)
Inspired by a true story, a comedy centered on a 27-year-old guy who learns of his cancer diagnosis, and his subsequent struggle to beat the disease.
IMDb: 7.7/10
Personal rating: 5/7
I know right? Another Joseph Gordon-Levvit movie. Yeah, i like him and his works. Get over it.

BilboBagginsSwagginWagon
I bet none of you guys have seen this little movie I'm a big fan of. Nothing special, just a little flick called "Return of the Jedi"
sorkijan
Needs shittier gifs. The ones you used aren't nearly as shitty as they could be. Also, these movies are by no means obscure.
Seggs
Srsly, can we not with the hack second movie gifs
druhbruh
They were obscure to me, except for like 4 of them.
sorkijan
That's fair I guess. I just find it funny when someone puts an oscar- winning movie up on a list like this.
Warumbel
Most of them are allways on the "movies you might not have seen" lists.

Brick is hands down the best film in this list. A great "Neo-noir" debut feature from Rian Johnson.

Mary and Max was an odd movie about *spoiler alert* ...... condensed milk. I know I ruined it for everyone. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I never knew I would be so emotional about condensed milk. But in my defense it's so good I could cry. But for real tho Mary & Max is great.

Came here to say that. My face was swollen for quite awhile after. When he's walking through her room at the end? I dissolved into a puddle.

I loved the cinematography. The lens choices in the stairway scene that separates, then brings the characters together is brilliantly done.

shuttlecockinakumquat
Yeah, just calling it "Lola" kind of takes away from what the movie is about. Such a good movie.
MishmashFishSmash
That's exactly what I thought first!

That's the English version. The German version is "Lola Rennt"

CSchmidtIV
Seriously. Was waiting the entire time for anything remotely interesting. It's not realistic OP, it's just boring.

I disagree. Like OP claimed, it's very realistic and the characters resonated with me long after I watched it.

It's one of very few movies I just couldn't finish. Terrible!

50/50 is one of my top 10 fav movies of the last 10 years I appreciated the sad circumstances of the characters and them using humor to cope
r2linad2
Same here; 50/50 is a 5/7! Drinking buddies and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang were also great.
Bahiano1993
KKBB is one of my favorites too, the humor and pacing of the movie is the best

Donnie Darko may be obscure IRL but it's legendary here. Also it deserves a much higher rating

DickButtMcGruff
We like Donnie Darko? Sweet, was always afraid other people would hate this movie so I never talked about watching it. S. Darko shit though.
MrHelsted
I don't think a movie has to be obscure to make it onto these lists.
RevolutionOnHerLips
"movies you might not have seen yet" implies some obscurity, or else people would have seen them already.. or your target demo is young teen
Hijinks
People can hear of something and not see it. I've heard of Deadpool, I haven't seen it though.
RevolutionOnHerLips
And a list like this also implies these are movies you would want to see and are not willfully ignoring for some reason
jeffthewaffle
i mean i do kinda agree with you but i finally watched donne darko last year. I had been wanting to see it for like 5 years prior
Hijinks
I believe the word "Also" is whats in question here. As I believe this reason is the only reason the list exists and you say its one of many
obviouslyrob
I pretty thoroughly dislike it, but I get why people love it. It seems polarizing, you either love it or hate it.

I remember feeling different than my normal self after watching it. Little sad and introspective. So Different from the in one ear out 1/2

And a lot of people feel the same way, which why I don't make static. It's a seminal moment where mere movies suddenly become cinema. Now 1/
