#5 I had this conversation with a friend with BPD recently when they were telling me about their problems. Your anger or hurt can be valid and you can still over react in ways that aren't justified. I've been trying to learn this advice and apply it myself for 20 years.

#25 in a body bag?

#8 Thus the phrase "Ignorance is bliss". It's more than just a platitude.

(That said - it's actually *way* deeper than that. IMO deep knowledge can also be blissful - you just have to know how to apply it. That... and perhaps some key chemistry.)

#37 I did this earlier when out of nowhere I said aloud “I’ve wasted too much money on this shit…” and thankfully no one was close enough to hear me say that lest they start asking nagging questions like “what money? what shit? how much money and/or shit did you waste?!”

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#37 yeah, but with me it's usually something awful like "I'm going to fuck the moon. Fuck the moon, there in the sky. And your Mom." And hope no one heard me.

You take the moon and you take the moon and you take the moon and you take the moon and you take the moon

Human emotions are like a bad haircut - everyone's got one, and it's all over the place.

#23 thats the cover of radioheads Amnesiac*. Simply brilliant album art, structured like a lost/overdue library book.

#33 Other countries have firearms. Few (if any) other countries have firearms as the leading cause of death among teens and children. It's not the guns. It's not men. It's the culture. There is a rot at the core of America that few Americans dare acknowledge even when 1/3 of their population is voting for literal Nazis and another 1/3 doesn't care enough to vote.

#17 I needed that, thank you

#8 The more intelligent are not depressed due to the nature of reality, they are depressed because every human being on the planet could live in utopian abundance but we decided instead to grant unfathomable control over wealth an power to a couple hundred people. Your problem isn't with reality, it's with capitalism.

#45 why the hell would I want it to start all over again?

#28 where can I buy this?

#5 ah, the reason for my divorce lol... Nothing like getting objects thrown at me and being screamed at for hours because I let one of the kids eat the last banana, then having to apologize and explain in detail how I was wrong for not validating her feelings (that I was a piece of shit)

#26 I'm told I simply need to appreciate it all instead

For some reason all of the ads on Imgur today are of guns. Kinda creeps me out.

#33 My view - simplified: Seems to me there exists a continuum of feminine <---> masculine traits, and one could draw two overlapping bell curves in that continuum, with one mode to the left for females, and one mode to the right for males. The long-tail on the far right is pretty much exclusively males. That long tail coincides with a lot of bad stuff, including "toxic masculinity" (not all masculinity is toxic) as well as proclivity to mass murder / terrorism.

#20 No, but my current version hates my past self a lot more…

That, is astute. -P. Simon

I'm pretty sure I induced my amnesia and that is a next level hate to past self.

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

One of the things I used to hate myself for was an incredibly vivid imagination, endless hyperviolent scenarios playing in my mind. I mean, like, from the age of at least eight years old. One nightmare I remember waking up from featured me climbing aboard a monster dune buggy with a ten-foot wide horizontal saw that I used to chop through desert tussocks and the cowboys hiding behind them.

I only realised nearly 50 years later that nightmares were my brain trying to wake me up from asthma.

Then over time you hate each previous version of yourself less. Because you're steadily becoming better

8 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

It's funny you assume I hate myself less as time goes on.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Im not assuming anything, I'm looking at available data. Remember, true nobility is not being superior to your fellow man, but to your former self

#33 this shit is why feminism is important for everybody. Guys tend to get this bullshit about how being seen as anything resembling feminine is terrible because it means some sort of weakness. So we end up having a society that doesn't teach boys how to handle emotions, because men are supposed to be stoic or whatever bs. So their emotional regulation is utter clown shoes. And then we get this shit happening again and again. Feminism teaches thats its not "girly" to have emotion. Its just human

8 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

Also a counterpoint - countries with less guns have far fewer shootings even though they have the same proportion of men. It's a combination of two things. I don't know if society is farther from fixing men than fixing guns, but I am guessing it's men, because some countries have fixed the guns.

8 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

The guys who had their emotional maturity stolen by a patriarchal society are INSISTENT that feminism is trying to take things from them.

8 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

This makes so much sense.

8 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

What a load of bullshit you just said, JAPAN has number of homicides so low that is usually in the single digits, and its not because feminism, not by a very fucking long shot.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

Also don't have the same access to guns. Ypu put a gun in the hands of somebody emotionally unstable. Somebody who's spent their entire life living with this feeling of not being "tough enough" and they'll quickly turn to using the gun at first opportunity to prove how tough they are. Its why we get so many stories of these dipshits rushing after folk who turned around in their driveways, or who shot somebody through a door when they knocked. Men who never learned to control their shit.

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Most violent crime is by far in poor neighbors or by people living there, turns out growing poor is bad for your mental health, OMG who would have guessed? all this men vs women bs is just a distraction as always from the real problem: economical inequality

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Sounds like somebody has trouble regulating their emotions.

8 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Take a wild fucking guess how many homeless people are in Japan? Feminism is very useful tool of the rich to keep us divided, same with religion and million other things

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

#20 my future self hates me even more intensely. After all, I made the situation worse.

8 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then you aren’t far enough in the future yet. That’s fine. You don’t blame the 2am sky for not being full sunlight, do you?

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And yet, without it, sunlight never comes. Sometimes it’s 2am. That’s okay.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would never blame the 2 am sky for anything...but if the 2 am sky makes it so that the sunrise was delayed, I´d be pretty pissed!

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it always does until you pass through it. Not all 2am’s are made equal, the 2am of someone mourning a lost love is longer than the 2am of the happy drunk. Even when it’s long, it will eventually stop, as all things do. Just gotta hold on to that and try not to look at the clock.
