A day in the life of a trucker (May 7, 2021)

Friday! At last. One last effort and off for the weekend. Well.. I'm getting back on the road at midnight Sunday night.

Last night I parked only a few hundred feet from the client. Driving there this morning was an easy drive. Imagine getting lost and ending up 5 towns over...

Unloading the rolls of cable. At one point the forklift guy didn't have his forks setup properly and dropped one roll on the ground, cracking it, and the forks ripped a foot of the protective layer around the cables. That's not good.

Rise and shine, Mister Freeman. Rise and... shine. Not that I... wish to imply you have been sleeping on... the job. No one is more deserving of a rest, and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well..., let's just say your hour has... come again.

The right man in the wrong place can make all the diff...erence in the world. So, wake up, Mister Freeman. Wake up and... smell the ashes...

In Drummondville, getting ready to load a new gas tank. It's about 48' long so I had to stretch my trailer an extra 5' in length, making it 58' long in total.

Got the deadmen anchors on and the sump covers. The tank is next.

And there it is. All strapped down and ready to go.

It ships to Quispamsis NB Monday. The crane is scheduled for noon on site.

Filling up on Go Juice, ready for Sunday night as I'll rush for Quispamsis. I can't leave earlier as hauling oversize is prohibited on Sundays in Quebec. That is why I leave at midnight sharp.

Whenever I'm done fueling I always push the hose to the side, to prevent the next driver from rolling on them by accident.

And parked for the weekend. Going home to my sweetheart.

Speaking of my sweetheart ( @choppingdeadcats ), today we went to a tack shop where they also sell some top quality charcoal..and next door was a music store..had to go there to buy something for my talharpa and my kravik lyre, and while there I looked at a few guitars. I ended trying a Gretsch "Rat Rod" G5410T hollowed body, playing some rockabilly licks for well over half an hour. My girl could see my smile, going from ear to ear, hidden behind my bandana scarf thing I had on my face. On the drive back home she told me about how I looked so happy, and into it, playing that guitar. Once home she called the music store to reserve it for me, as a gift.

She (my sweetheart) is absolutely awesome!!
