MAN. It looked fake for a moment, my brain didn’t know what to do.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If you pay for it aM down

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's extremely expensive to get into wingsuits, so if you're paying, I'm in.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Few UFO sightings that evening?

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll hold your beer.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like a forward facing flame with a highly flammable nylon wing suit might make one end up with a certain award.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The death rate on like every trip is 50%

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks, but i have things to live for

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I thought ALL of you guys couldn't wait to die.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have no context, but my first thought is that that is violently American.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Approximate fatality rate: 0.2% per jump, or 1 in 500 jumps for wingsuit BASE jumping. Wingsuit accidents are disproportionately fatal compared to injuries, most mishaps result in death rather than survivable injury. Night wingsuit BASE fatality rate: not specifically published, but risk estimated at “significantly higher”—possibly >1 in 250 jumps (0.4% or worse), and case reports hint some jumps have a near 50% casualty likelihood when attempted in poor or blackout conditions.

This sport is actually very affordable because you don’t have to worry about saving for retirement.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

there is a much cheaper way to achive the same results: put some duct tape on your eyes and cross a highway.

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Now do roman candles!

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Having seen a flare surge in front of me, no way I’d strap one to my body

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The camera man is even more insane, hopefully it's a go-pro on his head or something

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I mean, you can't control a wingsuit without both arms. You can stabilize in post.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Who says he doesn't have three arms, why are we arm shaming here

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anyone got the name of that song for me?

Freebird

This must be the ufo everyone is talking about

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only someone with a death wish is gonna do it with you. One of you will survive.

10 months ago | Likes 111 Dislikes 3

Yeah, no. "Death wish" is BS. If we actually wanted to die we wouldn't open. When you BASE jump, you feel more in contact with life than any other time. But yes, what this guy is doing has more risk and less room for error than almost anything you can do. I tip my helmet to that hero. (I've got hundreds of night jumps, BASE jumps and wing suit jumps, and dozens of pyro jumps but I'm not good enough to combine them.)

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Exactly. It winds me up enough to reply to internet strangers! Some of us have different neurochemistry. I’m well aware that mine leads me to seek activities that most people don’t understand but the “death wish “ “adrenaline junkie” thing grinds my gears 👍

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Adrenaline junkie grinds your gears? Why do you think you're into extreme sports? Its the neurochemistry my gui. Sure, death wish is maybe a bad rep, but you love adrenaline rushes. Very similar to how a junkie loves heroin. They dont want to die, they just want to have chemicals in their brains make them feel good.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not the best comparison but I get what you’re saying. I have a dysregulation of dopamine and norepinephrine. Too much re uptake of those neurotransmitters leaves me under-stimulated. The interesting thing for me is that, other than my ADHD meds or complete physical exhaustion, it was the only time my brain was quiet! I came to learn that I wasn’t craving an “adrenaline rush “, I was craving the “normal “ levels that, apparently, most people experience 😉

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah the whole “death wish “ thing is very far from the truth. I’ve jumped a few cliffs and lots of other objects and I can assure you that none of us wanted to die. I accepted that it was possible and took every step to ensure that it didn’t happen.

10 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

A particularly strong gust of wind at the wrong moment Is all It takes, feels like, to become a smear on the mountain/cliff side. Sure, you may go jump on a calm weather day - but, weather predictions are called 'predictions' and not 'weather certainties' for a reason. However you wanna spin this, and justify it to yourself, this is fate-tempting at its finest. Not to mention potentially flying into and unexpected obstacle (tho, I reckon you would be studying a flight path, beforehand).

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think of the interview with Jeb Corliss. He said if he had a death wish, he just wouldn't pull the cord. He was pretty mad the interviewer even asked.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but these guys didn't take every step to ensure it didn't happen, in fact, they took steps to make it more likely.

10 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Your ignorance precedes you, my friend. I think I recognise that guy and you can be guaranteed that he has hundreds , if not thousands, of BASE jumps, is familiar with the terrain, weather conditions and his own ability.

splash

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

“Base jumper dies in statistical inevitably” is a more accurate headline than “base jumper dies in tragic accident”.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Proximity wing suit flying, at night, in the snow, with pyrotechnics... Psychotic... I love it

10 months ago | Likes 362 Dislikes 3

Yeah, I'm in

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

..I'm torn on the pyrotechnics, usually I'd be against it being safer, but look at it light the area up, it's gotta be easier to see the hillside like that.. so I mean as long as it doesn't burn half the back of your wingsuit off... safer..?

10 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Also if he crashes he'll be visible.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's true, finding the crippled guy passed out in the dark on the hillside would be much harder than just going to the middle of the.. uh.. brushfire.. hmm.

Yeah OK that one's a wash for me, dunno which one is safer XD

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s a literal death wish but damn he’s going doing what he loved, being fucking insane

10 months ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

I mean, if you don't know the area at all, it def is.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Statistically, guy is probably already dead. These guys don't tend to live long.

10 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

If I knew I was terminally ill, I'd give it a shot

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's my bucket list plan... Unfortunately, you need like a couple hundred regular dives to get certified for a wingsuit, but still, may be worth it...

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No helmet and no goggles doing 100mph into snow is the really psycho part. But I guess it's not like he NEEDS to see anything...

10 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

He wouldn't be able to see anything in front of him anyway, just snow piling up on the visor. Have to wonder if he guides himself by looking down instead of ahead

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

He has goggles on. But even still. I would die in that weather without a hat even without jumping down a mountain

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My ears would get so cold!

10 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

one miscalculation like this and you are fucked with a capital fucked

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's why they're doing it at night in the other clip, so they don't have to see it coming.

10 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Ouch, is he okay?

10 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

he is probably pretty fucking far from ok

10 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Shins absolutely shattered.

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Probably has a drink named after him

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Guy's name was Jeb Corliss. Broke his ankles, several toes, his fibula, basically fucked up his legs big time.

10 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

And still had to land afterwards.

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Absolute best outcome when "crashed to his death at high speed" was an option if I'm being honest.

10 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Did he keep flying after the collision? How did he not plummet to his death after??

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

From Wikipedia: "The impact caused him to tumble forward one revolution before he regained some control, cleared some additional ledges and then deployed his parachute. Due to the lack of stability, his canopy quickly spun him into the ground."

10 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It baffles me how some people can only feel like they're alive if they almost die.

10 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I know for real. I feel most happy when I'm making stuff- or planning stuff I'm going to make if I can't be making stuff. I often wonder, if the event wasn't recorded would they still do it?

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug

10 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

There are plenty of ways to get an adrenaline rush that don't require you to risk smearing yourself across half an acre.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I'm assuming the more extreme stuff you do, the bigger a hit you need

10 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yep, they’re not called Adrenaline Junkies for no reason!

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As with any other drug
