Most viral edit: thanks for the support y'all! It's hard being a woman out there these days.

For those of you that took this too literally it's just to force the men in charge to have some empathy. If you don't like this idea how bout we regulate the shit out of viagra then? Same laws that are on woman's abortion meds should be applied to man's get it up meds. If the goal truly is to stop abortion then why not attack it from all angles? Why just the woman's?

Second edit: y'all. Come on y'all you are so close. I in no way shape or form want this to actually happen to men. I think it would be tragic for you to not have a choice about what happens to your body much like women don't right now. It was a walk a mile in my shoes commentary.

"Vasectomies are reversible" is technically correct, which is the worst kind of correct in this situation. It's been possible to reverse in a few cases so you can technically make the claim that they are reversible without strictly lying.
BUT saying so without mentioning the very low success rate means OP is basically sharing misinformation.
Either they shared it knowingly, or they just assumed it was true because they saw it in a meme the internet and didn't bother to check the validity.

I fully fucking agree

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I understand the point of this post but the idea that they can just be reversed is a pervasive myth. The success rate isn't that high and it goes down the longer ago the procedure was done. Vasectomies should always be preformed with the idea that they are permanent.

Thank you!

The secret hidden agenda behind their abortion issue isn't really the baby or even regulating women lives.

They want more babies to be born to feed their endless cycle of capitalism. Basically as each generation gets old and starts taking their retirement, a country needs a larger population working and paying taxes to support them. Then an even larger workforce to support them when they die. And an even larger one for THEM when THEY die.

Immigration can fill the gap, but Republicans only~

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

want rich white European immigrants. Not nearly enough of those to fill the gap here. Because europe is just better, in general.

So it all boils down to the same issue really. More people to support the old people!

But COVID 19 may have solved that problem in a rather brutal way because it hits you harder the older you are and is now a seasonal infection.

I was happy to get a vasectomy. Don't know what all the fuss is about.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

The point is not giving men a choice. See how they like the government controlling their bodies.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Counter points did an interview with Michael Knowles. Fucking dude thinks IUDs counts as abortion. I just fucking can't even...I just can't. If anyone is interested here's the sauce, its a wild ride. https://youtu.be/RkXZMRivegU?si=cv6DzoXnJIWP3yZ2

As a man who doesn't want children but can't get a vasectomy on the NHS because i haven't had children (go figure!) where do i sign?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had one over 40 years ago and it has proven to be a blessing.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I was told they are not reversable

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

I got one a couple of years ago, the doctor told me that you can have surgery to reverse it but the chance of it being successful is not high, also very expensive and not covered by insurance.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

so can people on Imigar stop MSUing Making Stuff/shit Up false info is false never good

Your user name suggests…..a lot.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only problem I can see is a potential sudden rise in STD/STI because hey, shooting blanks!

2 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 2

Apparently it's a big problem in retirement communities.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

sigh. that is already an issue, especially in inner city neighborhoods. I did tech work for a HEDIS review like 20 years ago. The medical records from the inner city are horrifying. a well child visit for a 13 year old that includes chlamydia and gonorrhea while having an infant isn't unusual.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"its either her brother or her daddy" is an especially chilling report I read that a doctor documented in a well child visit.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I work in a prison as a medical professional. When doing education hearing some variation of "i ain't wearing nothing. I wanna fuck a chick not a rubber. " is also common

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

lol, condoms do not exist in certain communities all over this country. I imagine its similar worldwide.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We give them condoms when they leave prison

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they almost certainly do not get used and you know it.

Stop STDs and abortions at the source, require that all males wear chastity cages until their dicks are required by their wives for procreation.

Or, mind your own business.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...can I volunteer as a test subject?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Screw that. I'll take the vasectomy over being forced to get married to get my penis rights. That's right up there with the current abortion problem and I'm pro-choice.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

They're not seriously suggesting it. It's essentially the inverse of what Republicans are trying to do with women right now - and when the genders are swapped it's incredibly obvious how unreasonable the stance is. It should be that obvious when applied to women too but.... here we are.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I have seen people that seriously thought it was a good idea, though. "No sex before marriage because it's against my beliefs".

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are aware that they're NOT ACTUALLY reversible, right? Except at extreme expense and tiny rate of success.

Your plan means that when women decide they want kids, they'll have to go get sperm donations from someone who ignored the law instead of their own partners.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 6

Naahhh bank the sperm before just in case. Nbd. But for real tho this is just a commentary on the shitty situation is women find ourselves in, not an actual plan. Don't take it so literally

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

You can't just bank sperm. I mean, technologically you can, but you can't just go to a sperm bank and say "keep that for me, will ya?"

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Free vasectomy? Where do I sign up?

2 years ago | Likes 209 Dislikes 3

Right here, just step right up. The Free Vasectomies sign is on the other side, trust me.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With universal healthcare, where healthcare is accessible to everyone and no longer excessively inflated prices to feed the rich who own the healthcare system.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm against this because I had to pay for my vasectomy and other stupid bullshit a boomer would say.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Up here, eh.

Mine was free. Barely even a consultation.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

no I'm kinda on board with it

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

While I'm an abortion supporter and having had a vasectomy myself....A) They don't work 100% of the time, and B) Reversals don't work 100% of the time.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I know I know. The point wasn't to actually say I wanted this for men. The point was for men to realize how shitty it is for others to make decisions about their bodies. On the whole y'all don't seem excited about it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

My comment was just more of a "why it wouldn't matter" comment and not a "I disagree with the point of the thought". As I said...'abortion supporter'.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No no you're on to something there

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

When you are ugly, you have automatic, free birth control. So, I've got that going for me.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

If you exist it means that is not that great, meaning it's certain some of your ancestors got laid despite looking very similar (unless it is non-genetical ugliness, e.g scars)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Except that their not. Not always at least, what your advocating is forced sterility.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

There are many women who are forced to be sterilized from complications due to not getting the medial care the need when pregnant. Seems the same to me.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

That's just stupid. Black people were slaves for hundreds of years, to make up for that should we now assign a random white person to be a slave to each black person? Or how about we cancel all medical and college debt forgiveness programs because I had to pay back my own loans? This is shit your mom should have taught you as a toddler, two wrongs do not make a right!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Omg slow down. I in no way shape or form want this to actually happen to men!! I want it to invoke empathy that is it. If it's not good for one it shouldn't be for another. It would be a tragedy if this actually happens to men just like it's a tragedy that it happens to women daily. You're taking this way too literally.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You realize how often I've seen people who are actually serious about requiring men to undergo procedures like this on this platform? I just assume everyone is serious at this point.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have never seen that. That's awful! Well I'm not one of those peeps for sure. Body autonomy for all!!!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m so down for this actually, but to also have access to abortion

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

If they were reliably reversible, AND if we could stop Moscow Mitch & Comrades using this as the ultimate gerrymandering tool, I'd be completely on board.

I say this as a man.

Way too many people make the decision to have children for the wrong reason or at the wrong time. (On both sides of the pregnancy.)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

And freezing sperm is way easier and more cost-efficient than eggs and embryos.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

@op Notice how everyone is addressing whether or not vasectomies are actually reversible, not the real issue you raised?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Yuuup. Interesting right? Almost like it's offensive and why would anybody force men to do that??

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Every time this gets posted, it fascinates me how many people make it to the first step (outrage at forced sterilization) but don’t get to the second (realizing the post is actually about forced pregnancy).

No one wants this to be law. This is not a policy proposal, it’s a false equivalence argument. On the other hand, there are actual policies all over the world that deny women bodily autonomy.

It’s meant to make you mad, folks. To be abhorrent. Now take the mad to fix the real world problem.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They're not all reversible, no

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

Got your medical degree from Trump University?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

My uncle was one of the first patients in the United States to undergo a reverse vasectomy procedure but it failed. Our family has watched nearly every breakthrough since. But go ahead and tell me what makes you think I'm wrong

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Weird, the Mayo Clinic, people with actual experience and smarts say otherwise.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/vasectomy-reversal/about/pac-20384537

I wonder which one I'm going to believe.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

It literally says right there that they aren't all reversible and even the reversible ones don't always result in pregnancy. I don't think you're making the point you think you're making

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well...any given vasectomy may or may not be reversable.

2 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 6

Plus a good amount (5% a meta study says) have chronic pain in the nuts after 6 months. Any surgery carries with it some risks, people seem to think that a vasectomy have about the same risks as cutting off a wart for some reason.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And any given pregnancy may result in death. In the US, the chance for women in general to die during childbirth is 1 in 5,000, which would make it the 7th or 8th deadliest job in the country (far above police officer and soldier). For black women, the chance is 1 in 1,900, which would make it I think the 2nd deadliest job.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

When I got mine, he specifically stated it as "it may be reversible, but the way you should think about it is that it is not." No one should have the preconceived notion that you can just have it reversed. It's usually only a small % that can

2 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 0

Yup ours said something like 30% chance of being reversible and to treat this d permanent because it most likely is

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That's what I was taught as well though I think something changed since when I was researching it it was MUCH higher success rate (maybe it's just bad numbers due to it being rare to reverse idk). Though I could see the reversal being more involved. In either case though vasectomies are much easier/safer than a tube tie (unless already in a c section).

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You can have your sperm frozen and never worry about reversing the vasectomy

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

And becomes much less likely to be reversible over time.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Got mine ~24y ago - doc said that it would be reversible for about 7 years and then a steep decrease in likelihood thereafter.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Gee, my friend … It would be terrible if a government forcing you to do something with your body led to consequences about whether or not you have children. Ya know, like it’s doing to women.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a urologist who does vasectomies, this is true.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah around here they definetly aren't. Or at least it isn't simple. And possible IVF treatment would have to be paid with own money (around here you get them for laughable low prices if you meet the criteria for fertility treatments in public healthcare).

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

and a baby does irreversible damage to a womans body

I blame Michael Scott for that popular belief. My wife literally thought I would be able to “snip snap snip snap snip” if I wanted to reverse it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Men are catastrophically failed by the system in many ways. Our culture undervalues men and denies them support while at the same time holding them to an impossible standard of self-reliance and strength. Men are over represented in prisons, violent death by accidents, combat, and suicide.

Meanwhile, the same system legislates women’s reproductive rights with just as little care or concern. Women also suffer those things listed.

It’s a single war, two different fronts — and we’re all losing.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its true, but it does mean calling it feminism its problematic and a lot of feminists have a big problem with that, I believe that clearly the right focus its to call such activism "humanism" to focus on overall progress of the most broken and vulnerable members of society, for example the biggest correlation of violence against women (and crime in general) its poverty, so fixing inequality should be top priority for that and many other reasons.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Men's bodies have ways of stopping unwanted vasectomies. No man will be sterilized if it's not god's will.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

vasectomies arent actually reversible, the rates of success on vasectomies can be as low as 60%, and honestly even if they were 90% (which is what they are on the high end) its still not a guaranteed reversal. so a vasectomy has a 90% chance to be reversed immediately after the surgery then it goes down from there, until it reaches 60% chance to be reversed after a few years have passed. As a guy, if i wanted kids theres no way i would have a vasectomy. just give me a pill like girls have.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

And having a baby? What's the reversibility percentage on that?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

100% in the first 2 trimesters?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh yeah? In every state? How are y'all missing the point this hard?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the point is that vasectomies are not reversible and saying otherwise is a myth, also the point is that we have no birth control for men, which a lot would gladly take birth control if it was an option, spreading misinformation is still spreading misinformation even if the misinformation backs up your personal biases.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The point is that forcing women to carry a pregnancy term against their will is a violation of their bodily autonomy and presenting a satirical parallel can be an effective way to get men to engage emotionally with the topic. But y'all got stuck on the "how dare you suggest violating my rights" part and are ignoring the rest. Whatever. I thought it sounded like a pretty Modest Proposal.
