Lineup went twice around the block. A ferry coming to the island while another departed. There were ferry workers here and there holding signs giving an estimate for wait time. Hundreds of people waiting in line and I was maybe delayed 20 minutes.
Living in the Europe now, trying to explain to them that I have to mentally convert metric to nonsense in order to understand what they're talking about.
It's frustrating that the only people who haven't embraced metric, also insist on misspelling metre, kilometre, tonne - and instead re-use words that have adjacent meanings (meter, ton) so now they need to *clarify* those words with uncomfortable phrasing like 'metric ton', which just frustrates everyone who actually uses metric. If North Americans just adopted the nomenclature the rest of the metric world uses, it'd be a lot easier for everyone.
