Most staff at a doctor's office by me is unpaid interns it pisses me off they stay for 1 - 2 months and get rotated in and out like livestock. Like these kids pay thousands and spend years in school and go to unpaid internships for required hours and after can't find jobs cause too many of them are done by unpaid interns on temp contracts. Unpaid internships shouldn't exist. Pay people for their work.

Those are practicum not internships amd that doctor while likely using a loophole is part of a university or college program to give those students hads on experience needed for them to gain their diplomas or degrees.
Its slightly different than an internship.

Here in the US, unpaid internships rarely exist. When they do, they are almost always explicitly illegal. The vast majority of internships are paid and some are paid very well.

But, to be more right, while they are almost always illegal, that doesn't stop them from being offered. This is because employers love wage theft and will flagrantly violate the law to engage in it.

I had to do one of these to get my master's in teaching. It should have been a warning of the amount of exploitation to come, but I did work as a teacher for 2 years before dropping it altogether.

there was a brief period in history here in america in the 1950's that companies pretended to have some morals and loyalty to people. some actually did, it wasnt much but it was there. that day is long gone. they have ridden that belief for so long. now its clear that they only ever want to exploit you in every aspect. if you have an interaction with them now of any sort, then they are trying to use you in some way. even job postings themselves are a scam as they are just harvesting your data

Loyalty to an employer is a scam. You intrinsically owe your employer no more loyalty than the store where you buy your TV, it's a business transaction. Be loyal to your job skills and your career, and only to an employer if they earn it.

They're basically dead from what I can see here. Maybe in other states they're still around but scrolling through my universities job site I don't see any unpaid ones. A few that are scams (say they're paid but you need to find funding from an outside source lol) but unpaid nope.
